Well the Hurricane model is saying that the storm is a direct hit for not just my city and county but my neighborhood of all the places it could go and here we are. I live right on the beach and on the 14th floor of this high rise, we are suppose to leave at 6pm but you know, I wait till the morning nad then leave if the winds are over 110 mph 78km I have been through this it might be Saturday or Sunday till it gets here if it does and if you don't hear from me again I made the poor choice. It is getting butt ugly though I will say. They will most likely cut the power as a saftey concern. I live on St.Pete Beach in South Tampa in Pinellas County if you are tracking this dern thing.
I live just south of you in lee county and they evacuated all our barrier islands and we are now preparing for a 8 to 10 foot storm surge if it passes just north of us like its supposed to. I'm about 12 foot above sea level so it looks like this is gonna be a close one. Im going to prepare the house for wind damage right now.
I'm down here in Collier county and I'm not as worried now as it looks like landfall will be up in the St Pete area. My big worry is my vacation home in the lower keys
Was supposed to leave Friday morning to take my daughter to FSU...looks like a change of plans now
I just hope it doesn't cause the red tide again. Spoty a few years ago but it lingered in the surf around the fishing pier. Had to pay a charter. I think it would be best if you move northward. No point to be the hero here. Save yourself first. You never know someone may see you leaving and decide to leave too. What do you have to lose other than life and a chance to meet one of the wonderful special ladies in the FSU. OK then that will lesson the competition. We will be saying, Yea!! crash and wessman died in a hurricane. I wonder why they did not evacuate. I believe I would go surfing right when the wind makes the waves like 15 to 20 feet!!!!
Yeah i'm waxing the board, I can stand here on my balcony of the 14th floor and when the storm suge pushes by I can jump the rail and catch the wave, might be able to chase one to Moldova, hey it could happen, better than tryin to cross the Bearing Straight this winter when it freezes over. I mean a little red tide or a pack of hungary Polar bears, what do you think man.
We had a ten minute thunderstorm here in St. Pete Beach yesterday as they got pounded right down the street. I am not feeling to good for crash in lee county thet got wacked, be a while before power is restored there, hope he was'n on the beach.
he never showed his hipocritical face in calif when the fires killed 21 people last christmas.
send the ice cubes, water and relief funds and get the f..k out of the way, bushie boy. let the real professionals of fema assess the situation. you're incapable of such things.
the last thing these people need is another politician taking advantage of their misery for a photo opportunity
Come January 27th Both George and and his smarter brother Jeb now Jeb that is sort of like the a hillbillie name, Jeb what the hell is that short for toad well any ways these two are out of wotk come the New Year. We could have purchased Iraq from Sadham Insane for what the ticket price of the war and rebuiling cost. Ok screw buying Iraq take one tenth of the money and buy the price of oil down and there you go gas 64 cents a gallon and a robust economy, maybe we could educate our children not to ever get Politically duped like this again.
I'm back guys. The worst part of the storm (near the eye) was about 25 miles from my home. We experienced hurricane force winds here and unfortunatly many people weren't prepared. I seen alot of damage around here and I had a little myself. Luckily I didn't get it as bad as Punta Gorda but my power just came back on since the storm hit. Ive been living off my generator and I can tell you it was pretty hard just to find gas for the dam thing. But anyway, trying to get back to normal around here and I'm glad to be back. I sure do hope I never have to experience anything like that again.
I know I received some emails, and I will answer them as soon as I can.
Glad your safe I was concerned about you as I am about 45 miles from there, I was sweating it out for a while we had some Tornados up here after the cane but all in all no problems.
call me harsh, cynic or whatever else you want, but I have no sympathy for people who install motorhome after motorhome in disaster prone areas of the country then expect FEMA and the US taxpayers to foot the bill to rebuild their 'cane meat' homes when the big BJ hits them hard.....nonsense!!
I guess the did not show you the photos of Sanibel Island that is now two islands or the footage of Captive Island that once was a pituresque community of 1 and 2 milliom dollar homes that are now mostly rubble. Yeah alot of old people live in mobbile homes Toad and I agree people should have more sense. But this storm cut a path 150 miles long across Fla and of the 20 billion dollars in losses, less than one half billion in losses were wobbley boxes. Many buildings with the new storm standards went down, the new Discount auto parts wharehouse that was all block and concrete no windows and up to new hurrican resistant standards was leveled like a cereal box. The eye wall produced a sustained wind of 145 mph with much stronger wind bursts in excess of 180 mph so this was a real storm.
It does not matter where you live in Florida it is a disaster prone area, it does not matter what type of building you erect when mother nature decides to bring it down asta la vista baby,
