With that being said it was a learning experience as well. It was a total reversal of what I was used to. I was being checked out and pursued by women, not the other way around. Also I found a lot of preconceived perceptions to be false as well. First off the Ukrainian guys aren’t all a bunch of abusive alcoholics, and the women aren’t all sweet innocent girls that want nothing more then to start a family, that’s all an internet sales pitch. I went to Odessa on my own and if you plan on going I would suggest you do the same. I checked out several agencies and socials and my experiences were mixed. There are two major tour companies that have socials and tours in Odessa they are Anastasia and AForeign Affair. I attended an Anastasia social and was pretty disappointed; it definitely wasn’t worth the door fee! There were many beautiful women, but I later found out that some of them were prostitutes, and I don’t feel that most were serious at all about finding someone. Mainly the atmosphere at the social just wasn’t right for meeting someone serious. I spoke with some of the guys from the AFA and the Anastasia tours, and the AFA guys were a lot happier, they had excellent accommodations at the hotel Odessa and the Anastasia guys were extremely upset with their hotel (the black pearl). All of these older guys (at least the smart ones) were realizing that their expectations of finding a 20 year old wife to take home to their house and do their laundry were a little unrealistic. If you absolutely insist on going on a tour I would take AFA, their clients seemed to be more satisfied. I didn’t go down there to hang out with American guys all day, so I skipped the tours all together. I found that a lot of the girls were just looking for a free meal for the night. A lot of the agencies were too large, didn’t know their girls, and just wanted to take your money. Most agencies are in some way affiliated with AFA or Anastasia, I only found one that I know wasn’t for sure. Out of all the agencies down there I found two that I was satisfied with their services. The first was The American Business Center (Ukrainebride) this company is run by an American guy named frank who is brutally honest about the industry and really opened my eyes to a lot of scams ect… Frank knows his girls and will straight up tell you if he doesn’t think you are a good match for their personality. The down side is that frank’s is a little expensive, but you get what you pay for, and he is independent. The second was Romantic star (romanticstars) they are run by a lady named Helena and it is a smaller agency that knows its girls as well. The accommodations in Ukraine were for the most part substandard and small. I suggest bringing your own toilet paper because most of the toilet paper down there is John Wayne toilet paper, tougher than hell and doesn’t take shit off anything. Food and everything is very reasonably priced! I met a Ukrainian neurologist who makes 250 dollars a month, so take into consideration that you are living better then most Ukrainian people, when you feel like complaining about something. You shouldn’t have to pay a gypsy taxi more then 10 grivna’s (two dollars) to go around town they will try to hit you up for 20, a Ukrainian pays 5. You will have a great time if you keep your expectations realistic! I met one of the most beautiful girls from Kherson and am still in contact with her. I am going back this summer for a month, because a week and a half was just too short! Do yourself a favor and meet a lot of girls and figure out which one(s) are right for you and worth corresponding with. What about you? jmoluv Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 10/9/2004 3:08:06 PM   id. i still have a plane ticket and a double entry visa i have not used yet. you bet your ass i am going back . i have found it is better and more economical for me to get over there on my own and just pay the cover charge for a social. i dont want to hang out with the competition on the whole tour if you know what i mean. european connections only charged me 200 dollars for a 5 hour social. in , same hotel in kyiv that afa uses . afa wants 400 dollars as a walk in with no tour. i made two best friends for life who i can easily bring home and are compatible. i just cant seem to get any gratification or anything sincere or what even seems close to being realistic just e-mailing sincere letters to these ladies on this site. their letters just seem like they are not talking to me. i might try a different city this time . have you ever thought about using afa to go on their south american tours . i heard from guys i met in kyiv who went there that it is a very good scene and the women are actually more receptive than the fsu ladies . just what they said thats all. jmoluv idiotdetector Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 10/10/2004 6:23:58 AM   Jmo- I am an Australian so I know nothing about south American tour and girls there realy only seem interested in Americans. I have only heard of one guy that has a south american girl and he lives in a world of pain so his brother told me. I agree that it seems useless wrtiting to these girls. I have gone twice to girls I have writen to and on the ground face to face, it was worth nothing. Both times only lasted 4 days. I still write to girls though as it helps me decide where to go. I just returned from Gorlovka (donetsk region) anf I liked it there, cheap to go, pretty girls and although I did not find my perfect match I would say most girls seemed genuin and no one at all tried to scam me. I am writing now to a girl in a nearby city to Gorlovka and I talked to her on the phone yesterday and she was very different to all the other girls I meet, at least on the phone. There are just as many girls in the south region of Ukraine. Also have you ever been to Ekaterienburg in Russia. Also many pretty girls and did not seem to be full of scammers. Although I got scammed big time there eventualy but that was my own foolish fault in poor selection of a girl and not listening to my own thoughts and cutting out earlier. Anyway I have this friend and he has been to big cities, mosco, St pets and all his best times and best girls are from smaller cities. You happened to go at the end of September and the beginning of October when amazingly two of them were holding Tours at the same time (Anastasia and AFA). The other company European Connections - also highly regarded by those of us who have taken a tour with them - held their Odessa tour at the beginning of September. Naturally you did not encounter those tour participants. The Eurpoean Connections tour was also held at the Black Sea Hotel - just as Anastasia's was. (Not the Black Pearl as you called it.) I have also met Frank of UkraninanBrides at the American Business Center. I agree with your assessment that he is knowledgeable but his agency is very expensive. His website has tried several radically different pricing structures in the last year and he has finally settled on a fairly costly one. Another agency that some people like in Odessa was "Adam and Eve". I applaud you for making the first trip alone and getting around as well as you obviously did. We have had three recent writers (including myself) in this forum declaring their visits to Odessa as "the time of their life". Very breifly to Kiev but I did have some experince with the agency there. So I did visit and I have an opinion. Why do you not get to know something before you form an opinion. Twenty years younger is not an impossibility by any means. But just being an American or Western European guys alone won't do it. These girls are not, for the most part, just looking for refuge from a bad economy and bad local men. They are not willing to jump ship for just any opportunity. If you are realistic however, of you havea nice personailty, a nice lifestyle, an education and you are not obese or extremely old - you can do quite nicely. Being from the west will immediately make you aware of two things. #1. You will immediately attract the scammers - who feel that westerners are rich but naive. They will take you for anything they can get and you must learn to identify and avoid them. #2. You will "get your foot in the door" with the beautiful and intelligent women you have probably traveled there to meet. They will give you audience and consideration which you would never have gotten from similarly intelligent and beautiful girls in your own country. But you must appeal to them as well as they appeal to you - or it will not work out. A western mans' greatest opportunity to "get his foot in the door" is probably in Moldova. But it is also more dangerous and corrupt. Ukraine, especially the smaller cities, are like heaven on earth. But again be wary.
