I open this to debate because I'm hearing a lot of complaints and during my one visit to Odessa last summer things just didn't seem right there. Also my email forwarding experience with all the ladies from Odessa are all red flags. Not one solid correspondence from any of them which included email services from Fiance.com, AFA, and Amazing-Women. And we all know now what happened to Steelman during his recent visit to Odessa. Yes, he went in unprepared but still the result and his complaints seem to be more and more common in regards to Odessa. When I was in Odessa last summer for 10 days I hired my personal interpreter and good friend Natasha to go with me. With her I didn't need the agencies really. We met girls in the streets, cafes, and clubs. But I always have back up plans which included printed out profiles of girls and contact information of the agencies they belong to. With one agency we set up a date with a girl. She no showed me. No charge of course. But it did cost me some precious time which I don't like to waste when I'm only there for 10 days. Another agency called "All for Love" is in my opinion an absolute scam agency. Prior to my arrival in Odessa I purchased 8 ladies personal contact information from them which included the ladies phone numbers (the only reason I paid for them) so I could have my interpreter call them and set up dates. Well, four numbers were dead with no connection at all. Two were wrong numbers, one girl was married, the other was not on any agency and was sick of these phone calls. There went $100 out the window. I had planned to go to the office of the agency and raise some hell but I ended up meeting a beauty who kept me busy so I just blew it off as a loss. Also, I notice while walking the main street of Odessa there were billboard advertisements for marriage agencies everywhere. I must have counted 5! It would seem this is big business over there and must be making money. The main complaint I am hearing from my fellow colleagues is the the girls are either not serious and just dating for fun and gifts (professional daters) or they are flat out scammers working alone or sometimes as a team with their agencies. So, for all you gentleman who have experience with Odessa I open this debate. danny3777 Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 1/23/2006 3:39:20 AM   Deano, There are scammers wherever you go and there are at least one or two, supposed, agencies from the Odessa area flooding some sites with, supposed, ladies from Odessa. I guess it only takes one supposed agency to post perhaps 50 profiles and the scales become, or seem to become, tipped. There was also such a group of profiles coming from Donetsk but once learnt they were easy to spot because they posted as being from Donbass rather than Donetsk and likewise the Loo-Gangsters seemed, more often than not, to have an underscore in their address. But wherever the profile may say the lady is from, is that where she is actually from? For years, once they became famous, the Loo-Gangsters have posted that they are from anywhere except Lugansk. What do we know about Steeleman's ladies, on what site did he find them all and the fact that he had arranged to meet them in Odessa, and they no-showed, well that might suggest that they are not from Odessa at all! I notice just recently on the 'All for love' website they are now posting a girl from Odessa who I had seen for a couple of years posted on another site as living in Tver Russia. But as I stated I'm getting a lot of complaints and advice from colleagues not to go and waste any more time in Odessa. As you say, it is good to meet a lady naturally and in person rather than via correspondence, indeed that is how I met my wife, but there are things to be learnt from correspondence, you can detect from a ladies manner of questioning or talk where she is coming from and if she has the right or wrong attitude, meeting in person then perhaps before you know it you may have found your way to the expensive designer clothing shop! I was guilty of it myself once, trying to do things on the cheap via free dating websites, these are lairs for scammers and whilst you will never be scammed if you never send any money one can waste months or years of their life looking in the wrong places. I'm not suggesting however that paid dating sites are scam free, far from it, some can be as bad as the free sites but it's a case of using the letter writing stage as a learning about the other person curve rather than considering it as a formality that one needs to go through before meeting a pretty lady. Martin danny3777 Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 1/23/2006 12:06:01 PM   And Deano, I only went dating in Odessa once 2 years ago and a few days before I met my now wife, the lady I met with was 'taking the piss' thus I dumped her on the 2nd day, I wouldn't describe her as a scammer though although I'm aware that there are many a dodgy profile of ladies from Odessa. As I said to someone else recently, you need to go to somewhere that is off the beaten track, somewhere that is a pain in the ass to travel to. Odessa is becoming too easy, there are several international airlines with direct flights to Odessa and other airports served internationally, aside from Kiev, include Lvov, Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkov & Simferopol. Find another city, away from these, to go to. It's about a 5-6 hour drive from Kiev, and a couple of hours from Kharkov, so it's off the beaten path but still liveable. I stayed in the best hotel there, which was acceptable (hot water, decent bed, and a little restaurant). I had the best room in the hotel, which cost about $50/night; smaller rooms were less expensive. The women were beautiful, as they are everywhere in Ukraine, but they have a pretty simple life there, so for lack of a better term, they were not "westernized." There is a university there, and many of the girls that I met were studying there and so spoke pretty good English. I used a great local agency which was reliable and inexpensive ($10/meeting IIRC). There's not much to do there, but it is pleasant enough. There is a nice little downtown with some restaurants and cafes, a bowling alley, and a couple of churches to look at. There are probably some nightclubs but I didn't go to any. The best restaurant that I found was next to my hotel; it was a traditional Ukranian place in an old wooden mill. Overall, I found the women to be straightforward, sincere, and marriage-minded. I might go back this spring or summer. I was kind of suffering from the problem of not wanting to commit to anybody because I wanted to see who I would meet in the next city. I think the girls pick up on it too when you tell them that you are going to another city next week; they know what you're doing. Guys, dont be scared to go there on your own. Forget socials. Start writting to the girl, then start calling her every day (using the '5p per minute' connection) not once a month. Then you will become more close to her, you will feel her attitude and will not waste your time if its crap. When you are there- keep your girl away from her friends, (im talking about first meetings) go to Kiev, Crimea; there is a great aqua park somewhere in Nikolaev- go there for a couple of days; And dont have 'plan A' and 'plan b'- you will end up alone as before.go for one girl and spend maximum time with her. (how? read above) Ask her to introduce you to her parents (its a good sign, if she will) And the last advice- the best time to go to Odessa- is summer! They have a gorgeous beach with lots of discos, bars, restaurants.... etc.It is a place and best timing to see the most beautiful women in the world (trust me- i've travelled a lot!) That's exactly the way I handled it with my lady. No bumps no BS. I will definately advise Yalta. I wrote and called Larissa every day when I decided she was the one I wanted to be with and also that is what she wanted. Too many guys are paranoid, devise too many plans etc. Well thats my humble opinion. It worked for me and on February the 8th she will be in the states with me. Addison you give some good advice but you make it sound way too easy than it really is. Writing girls directly and calling them everyday is not as easy as it seems it would be. First, to write directly she must be able to read and write English strong enough to do this. Most girls do not. Second, she must have her own private email and be willing to go to the Internet cafe. Again most girls do not and will not. It's great that Addison and Nasfan were lucky enough to find girls capable and willing to do this but it is rare to find such a girl. Most girls you will find on the agencies will refuse to give you direct and personal contact information. Two main reasons are the one I just listed above and the other is the scam agency does not want the communication to go outside of them. Addison gives great advice about keeping your girl away from friends during the first meeting. It is a great idea to take your girl on a small romantic get away to Kiev, Crimea, or Odessa. No distractions from work, Family, and friends. You get all her attention and really get to know each other. Addison did you say there is an Aqua park in Nikolaev? I know there is one in Alushta (Not far from Yalta) a small city in Crimea but I have never heard of an Aqua park in Nikolaev. And I will always have a plan B and plan C. I still think that is good advice. I agree the best time to go to Odessa is in the summer but not to meet a girl. It is great to take a girl there for a romantic get away. In the summer Odessa is flooded with tourist from Europe and Russia. You will be competing with many men from Italy and Russia for the same girls. The local scammer girls know it is feeding time during the summer. New men coming in every week to play with and use. The beaches in Odessa are far from gorgeous. A gorgeous beach you will find in Hawaii, Caribbean, Thailand. The black sea is not the Pacific Ocean. And there are no palm trees in Odessa. The beaches are usually dirty and the water is polluted according to the locals. But I agree with Addison about the many great discos, restaurants, and of course beautiful women you will find there. Addison alsa gives great advice about meeting the parents. By asking your girl to introduce you to her parents you show her how serious you are about her. In turn, if she agrees to this then it tells you how serious she is about you. It is a very big and serious step to invite you to her home to meet her family.
