I was thinking of buying a yacht business on the med and live on it, while I rent out my house. It is only in the initial idea stages yet with finance having been applied for. But can yachts drop anchor at ukraine ports/marinas? I know there are yachts in Varna in Bulgaria but I dont know if they are allowed to go over to Simferopol for example. it could be a good little charter business during the summer months going across from Varna, as when I was in Varna in 2005, there were not boats to the Crimea and nor from Constanta port in Romania either. YOu could probably cross in 2 days or so. There was a catamarang to odessa from Varna twice a week, but that was a big commercial one.
Perhaps, someone would like to go halves on this business venture?
Nice one BF had a good laugh with this one.
I think should take your motorbike and side car to Kiev and then hire a ricksaw and make your way down to Odessa that will make a real impression with the local ladies.
Just coz I didnt buy bottled water or expensive over-priced flight tickets when you dont need to, doesnt mean I cant afford a yacht. To put matters straight once and for all, I CAN afford a yacht finance pending with 20% cash down (ie £20-30K)
yes, I meant sevastopol not simferopol. I get mixed up with those names. Or is the port at Yalta. At least I could smuggle my lady into Varna. Mind you the yacht would be stuck in the black sea unless martin wants to sail it up the Dnieper river. Now that would make ME piss my pants. :)

I think boredfukka takes globus and starts to dream. From USA to Vladisvostok (in earlier posts:)Sp nice to sail in black sea sitting in sopha:)But in the end business idea smuggling ukrainian-moldovan girls to Turky might work:)

anyway i wish people would answer the question.
BF,
If I understand you correctly you want to start a commercial shipping venture internationally to/from Ukraine, such a venture that may need passenger licensing, passenger insurances, a bonding, international route licenses, safety equipment inspections and approvals etc. etc. etc.
And you consider it reasonable to make a decision based on what people on this forum may advise you to do?
No, I asked if anyone wanted to go in with it. There are a lot of MCA coded charter yachts all around the world you know. But probably someone would nick the boat in sevastopol marina, maybe even a taxi driver.
BF
i would not sail up the Manchester ship canal or the Norfolk Broads with you, knowing of your in depth knowledge of the Ukraine drinking water experience and the effect it had upon you.
The Manchester ship canal is probably cleaner than Ukrainian tap water. What a pity they cant get clean water systems. Why does it have to be like that?
BF,
Have you tasted the water in Malta, it's full of salt, or the water in Ostend, Belgium whereas they source it from the sand dunes and it's full of sand and salt, you don't have to travel as far as Ukraine for sh1tty water.
And as for London, rumour has it that London water is literally recycled urine etc.
All water is recycled urine unless it's natural rainwater. Where you think the sewage goes? But is recycled as good as the real thing? Or are there always a few molecules of urine and pooh left in?
The sewage goes into the natural waters, seas and oceans etc, these are evaporated into the atmosphere forming clouds and returning to earth as rainwater.
To answer ure question Boredfukka: first own the boat, live on it, get all the paperwork u need to move it from Southern France (say) to UK (say).
I owned a boat. I lived on it. It was moored 2.5km from Schiphol airport in NL. I had a place to moor it in UK. Uk permits for boats are much stricter than NL and it would have cost me a fortune to get the sewage, fire, HSE standards set by UK. So I sold it.
And if u think it is easier in FSU...Forget it mate. Not only from my work experience.
Example.Today. 4am at Serbian-Romanian border (by car)
Boredfukka:
1)Nobody from RO wants to travel to Ukraine, or v.v - so no point thinking about it.
2) Varna to Ukraine is a KNOWN Trafficked route by the EU as it is raised in the agenda to their ascension - so u r going to tackle the EU! singlehanded !!
3)ure market research is rather poor. Azerbadjian and Georgia etc are becoming much lucrative in tourism and sight seeing than Ukraine (just read the airline mags)!
Why not sell the boat to a Moldavian (Rusian Fed side) and give him the contact of an albanian kosovar (working with albanians on Albania coast) and u have the classically recongined (by EU and UN) people trafficking in the 1990's.
Lul.
PS: yesterday I saw a red Ferrari in Tivat (Kotorska Bay in Montenegro) immatriculated in Vanuato. Any explanation needed!!!
The hearsay is that many luxury cars in eastern Europe were stolen in western Europe. Stealing a Ferrari in Vanuatu to import it to Montenegro sounds as the craziest car theft one could imagine. Luckily, my Lamborghini is safe in the garage...
why dont the romanians go to the ukraine? Do they go to moldova?
Thanks for the info about the boat. But I would charter it in the MEd not in the uk. Fuk the UK for things like that.
wht is trafficked between the ukraine and varna then?
