I made two trips to the FSU, 2 years ago and enjoyed the experience. I was fortunate to be able to spend a couple of months 'on the ground'. As far as communication is concerned, this subject has probably been done to death. However, there's no harm in resurrecting it for newcomers. I'm now in Thailand, living with a Thai g/f. I did NOT want a Thai girl that could speak English. And definitely not one who could play pool! (most working girls can). I found the language issue to be no hindrance and, as far as Thailand is concerned, a definite plus. (No previous 'form'). Language can and does get in the way of real communication and we found that we were able to get by, very well, without unnecessary chat. Some people are very uncomfortable (and unfamiliar, these days) with peace and tranquility. However, we both enjoy a peaceful home. It has been 18 months and my g/f's English is naturally much improved. I sent her to school and she studies diligently. Initial problems were resolved by contacting a friend, who spoke English. I didn't have a complicated checklist of qualities I was seeking. In fact I like my g/f's simplicity in describing people... 'Heart good' or 'Heart no good.' Once you have that 'heart good', everything else follows. Not easy to find, though, no matter where you are. Another important quality my g/f has is simple gratitude. A quality lacking in most western females. There is little room for it in the mindset of the modern material girl. I think once you have the basic knowledge about each other, and this is where an interpreter is helpful, the rest can be picked up. Academic types and chatterboxes might not care for this arrangement. For me, it has been a delight. FWIW. What you have achieved, i strive everyday to attain. To live and prosper in another country. There is one thing that everyone seems to avoid and that is the fact that when you marry a foreign girl (no matter where) you are by far the best deal on the table for her. A good man, life in a stable country, as well as security make the foreigner appealing to her. Once you get her here, everything changes. You are no longer the best deal on the table for her. Her options are endless for her once he hits american soil. Plenty of stable and successful men, or a chance at independence (career).... Unless you have alot of $$$, you cannot win in this game. Any fool can go to another country and get engaged, but do you have the right stuff to keep her?? Most of us who come to this website are just average middle class joes. An FSU girl aint going to go for us. Why shoud she leave her friends and family for the same middle class lifestyle she probably enjoys now??? If you are wealthy, then you have a chance in the FSU. If you are just a middle class joe, try a dirt poor country. All girls look for security when looking for a life partner.... its just a way life is. I dont go out drinking ( i despise sports ) i dont go walking and i dont like the air head tourist thing - once you have done the tourist thing huh which i did all that back in 1989 then why would you want to do it again . Thailand i do like it very much having said that the bird i see 2/3 times a year on the err pass through is a Malayan bird absolutely lovely she'd stop a train bit of fun couple /few days never hurt anybody --you got to do something in life . Still at days end id not ever swap sweetheart in russia ------i can live in russia iam used to it thailand i dunno mate -i think more danger in thailand in a few ways than in russia . Take all the residency crap / visa crap out of thailand id have a go living thier later in life ( with miss russian of course ) but whilst there is red tape living in that place i wont entertain it . I took my girl from russia to thailand last december she loved it to death. Made it a bit difficult to roam out you know err ummm play up a bit i did try but natasha shes to smart watches me like a hawk . She did comment to me darlink is look as like many prostitue hear this country - of course i said ''bloody discrace isn't it'' should lock em all up --( with me of course ) lol lol. Russian girls not being one sided mate ( i very much like the thais ) but the russians are smarter by a mile . they look to a future where as the thai girl - she'd looking for next westerner at the bar --yu know. If the thai girl casts out money thinking then you got a good girl ! the thais whilst beautiful mate in the loyalty stakes no i dont think you would get that level of loyalty as you do in a russian i really don't.
