Author Post Maser Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 5/8/2008 1:55:12 PM   Hi all, it will be impossible to be brief, but I just tell you my story in the hope there is someone out there with some knowledge how to tackle this, to start I say that me and my wife know each other for more than a year and we got married in February this year, currently living in Ukraine with the intention to move in a western European country. She has a kid from a previous relation and our relation is harmonious and we enjoy each other company. The problem are the her parents never accepted me, I am original from Australia and they have done anything possible to stop our relation, first the call the ex husband (a Russian looser) so he can claim the father rights (he never bother before) that going to the local police and making a report that I was employing girls from Ukraine to take it back to AU for prostitution (ludicrous) I actually spend 2 hours in the police station answering private questions, such “your wife dress too nice, where she get the money” obviously they have friends in police, they also were trying in court to take my wife’s daughter away and deprive her of mothers rights, not to count the ongoing harassment on the street to me and my wife, and the harassment to any relation or friends that talk to us. Going back in time I was trying to finalise her VISA (my wife) for Australia, but the document that my immigration agent sent to my wife old address (her parents house) got stolen and photocopied, we believed some doc got also manipulated (with my surprise some stuff like the business card that I send in the same envelope where in the police desk!) between VISA cost and solicitors(useless) here so far I have spend a very considerable amount of money, I have my wife and a beautiful little girl and at the end I am not complaining, but we deserve a normal life, the law in this country is very beyond the times, people can harass and accuse of anything and if you want results you most likely have to bribe someone. For the rest I do understand is a unique issue, for the records I like this country and I think there are lot’s opportunity if investment and the vast majority of people are good, the woman here have something special about compare to the rest of the world, despite all I consider myself lucky that I have find the right woman. Your posts always bring me a smile. Maser I do not know where you are if you live in the FSU or if you have succeeded in getting your wife and her daughter to Australia. Family in the FSU is close. It is unfortunate that you got off on the wrong foot with the parents. That is one area I have seemed to get along on. If there is a father and he wants to make trouble that will always be a showdown no matter if he is told by family or not because he is required to sign a release for a child under the age of 18 to leave the country. So if he does not agree legal action is inevitable. If you already have your lady and child in your country I would suggest having your wife explain it to her parents like this. "We want to be family and we want to be friends but if you continue to cause trouble for us when we are in Ukraine it will be more difficult for my daughter and family to visit there." If you love your wife you will try to work this out with her parents because if you do not it will always be you against them and your family will be in the middle. Revenge will get you nothing. Treating them with respect even if they do not return it will eventually win their respect after they learn and trust that you have good intentions for their daughter and grand daughter. You say you tried to obtain a visa for your wife (only the wife in the first instance?) but you also say you plan to live in a western european country. If you have an EU passport getting your wife a visa/permit is very simple for an EU country, if you plan to live in a EU country other than the country you have an EU passport for (sounds odd but its true). This idea would allow you to live in a western european country and obtaining a visa to australia would also be easier I would imagine from that western country. As for the kid you'll probably have to go to court and get a good lawyer. Maybe you need to have a talk to the local mafia to have a talk to the father as well. I never asked from him anything - just to blow off out of my way. in his miserity he is using his biological fatherhood as weapon against me. he wants to be a father very much - wants his "rights", after 3 years he suddenly realized that he has a daughter. Ok no prob. but with "rights" there are "obligations" too. as they say: "give to an idiot long rape and he'll hang himself" and this is the funniest part of performance. I think when this metaphor refers to a Ukrainian woman protecting her family you will have big problems if you start to violate that. And rightly so.
