No pay for letter sites. 2) If she won't give you contact,(Cell, home number, Home address) move on. 3) If she is adamant about using only agency services, move on. 4) If she starts inquiring about your personal assests and income, move on. 5) If she wants to visit you in your country first, move on. Most if they like you will want you to meet family and friends, their approval is important. 6)Don't send money to someone you have never met. 7)Move away from letters and start talking daily by phone, it's about a cost of a lunch and worth so much in the end. 8) Remember these ladies were surviving way before you came along, it's the life they know and understand. Keep that in the back of your mind. 9)I know it's possible, but I have yet to meet a lady who doesn't have a cell phone. Just look when you walk the streets at all the people staring at them, so don't beleive I don't have a phone. 10)Don't send money to someone you've never met, don't use agency services!! Agencys are there for one reason only. Your money. Handle all your meetings yourself. Tell the lady you will schedule all transportation and pay for it ahead of time hers also. This will drop many ladies immediately. Just some simple prudent steps I used in the past to eliminate scammers and time wasters and the lecherous agencys. I don't mind spending money but I want the ultimate bang for my buck. Being smart helps you find a honest lady, one that is serious. Ask the questions up front and quickly, when they start backpeddling, move on, it's your money and your time don't waste either on a picture and a promise. I know these will not work for everyone, but it did for me. Use what you find here to mold into your personality and you will find a great time and possibly a great lady. Let me tell you about some of my experiences this year with agency girls so I can hopefully spare some others guys out there the misery I have gone through. Well I have done this for awhile now, I have had my experiences with writing and meeting Ukraine girls in the past. They we're mainly bad of course. I had not gone to Ukraine for about 2 years, I was still writing girls but had not been able to go for a trip because of things with my life and work. This year I decided I would like to go and meet someone for sure. Well basically I would write some letters through the awful websites Natashaclub and Army of Brides (note to guys: do not use these sites, ever!) to women, I seemed to get some interests from girls but of course most girls would eventually disappear without a trace after writing for a little while. Most would not give any of their personal contact information to me and would only talk through the agency and most letter writing didn't go anywhere and they didn't seem to show any signs of wanting to meet. One girl from Kharkov who did want to meet with me did not know any english and wanted me to pay for her english lessons at 350 dollars a month. I refused and decided this was not someone I wanted to meet and we eventually stopped writing each other. She also refused to give me any kind of personal contact info and would only talk through the agency. Another girl from Kiev wanted me to take her on trip to Turkey for our first meeting. I refused and told her I wanted to meet her in Kiev. She didn't seem to be too happy about that and surprise, surprise she stopped talking to me soon afterwards. Another girl from Kharkov wanted to meet with me too. I got her email and we talked away from the agency but she refused to give me her phone number and address. She wrote me lots of lovey dovey messages and went on and on about meeting me. I was really interested in her but then things started to get fishy for me. She put up half naked pictures of herself up on the agency site (she did not have pictures like that when we first communicated) she told me she only wrote me (which was a lie) and then when I started to arrange to meet her things just didn't seem right. I told her I would book my own hotel through the internet for when I came to Kharkov. She didn't like this because she "doesn't like hotels at all" (?) and wanted to get me an apartment at 90 dollars a day. I told her I could book a nice apartment myself online for about 50 to 60 dollars a day. "No" she said "they will be no good and you have to take the one I got for you. I already made a deposit on it too." This made me more suspicious because I know all about agencies making money off of men with apartments and interpretors (she wanted us to have an agency interpretor for our meeting too) She also had said she would meet me at the Kharkov airport but when it got very close to our meeting she said an agency member would come and meet me instead. So by this point every instinct in me was screaming don't go, this is a massive agency scam. So right at the last minute I decided not to go through with it and told her that. She must have been really mad because I have not heard from her since. Maybe there is some chance that I was wrong and she really was legit but it sure seemed funny to me and I think not going through with it was a good idea. This post is getting really long and I will tell the rest of my sorry tale in the next post. It just gets better and better. I'm just a guy who calls things as I see them. As for Army of Brides, this clown Oleg Sedyshev operates out of Mariupol Ukraine, my wifes hometown. He has a horrible reputation with the girls there also. Larisa has friends that used his agency and experienced horrible results. He operates also an anti-scam site which is hysterical in itself. He has ruined the reputation of more than a few honest girls that won't play ball with thim. He also steals profiles and pictures from other sites and claims these at his own. A couple of her friends were telling us that she would get calls from agencys she didn't even know existed and when she did a google search of herself she found she was listed with many of his agencys. This guy is blatant about it. His address is listed at the bottom of each of his pages. He doesn't even hide the fact that he is advertising some 20 odd sites with the same postal address. Sometimes the women get screwed over just like the men do. If you don't do what he says, up on the scam list you go. Defamed without any justification. This is one of the big reasons that I absolutely have no use for agencys beyond correspondence. I know some guys are going to say, Oh this agency is great etc, e tc. Well they're not. As long as you know the score of what is going on you will understand that in the end agencys do not support creating a match between two individuals. It's not in their benefit to do so. They are there to sell translations and their other services, the girls are just the medium they use to extract this money from guys. Just ask any woman who used an agency in finding a guy. They will tell you that when the became engaged to a certain guy, the agency lost all use for them. Even telling them to continue writing to create more income for the agency.Looking for help on documents for a visa, they kick them to the curb because their value is nil with the agency since she found her man. Or maliciously try to ruin their relationships with their prospective mates. I know guys who this has happened to. They also will get calls from agencys telling about a guy who is writing them while they are engaged and ask them to correspond, when they refuse, the agency will correspond with them anyway falsely creating contact with a guy. Agencys operate heavily in the grey area and many outright operate falsely and have no remorse in doing so. As long as you approach agnecys as business and nothing more you can make things work for you. They really aren't there for your success in find a lady even though they claim to help you find the girl of your dreams. It's a nod and a wink with agencys and the deceit is so rampant it's expected, even from the so called honest ones. How their help will ensure your success with your chosen lady. What bullshit. Mondelo, if your lady was legit, she would have worked it out with you. If she was really serious. You're playing it smart, and it may take some time but you'll find a good lady . You can find interpreters very cheap in Kiev etc without the high price of agencys. Plus I figure that an indepenant only has one thing on their minds and that's to do a correct translation. Go figure, to have an interpreter travel to a place like Kiev you're paying for their room and board, air travel and time to interpret. You can have close to a grand wrapped up in an interpretor and for what? Hell I know a lady that will take you on a sightseeing tour of Kiev, translate all day, travel in her car at the time it was about 100 grivnas. The tour is excellent and worth more than 20 bucks and the lunch you buy her. This adventure isn't really that difficult if you use common sense. Good luck in your search. I appreciate it. But I am so done with this now. I will finish the rest of my story for you guys now. It's a bit long so bear with me. I was also talking to girl from Kiev since January. She is very beautiful and she wrote me lots of lovey dovey letters as well. I have to say I liked it, what man wouldn't. We didn't always talk regularly because she goes away for her work a lot. But I was impressed that she seemed successful and didn't seem like the typical agency girl who was out for some man to "take care of her" I thought she just was looking for a relationship. Everything seemed to go right, we started talking by email, she gave me her phone number and it just got better and better. Still sometimes we would go a long time without talking but when we did talk it was great. Sometimes we talked on the phone and I have to say that she did not say the sweet things she said in her letters, she seemed more regular with me. I did not think much of it then but I know now I should have. Well finally last week I went to meet her. I had told her that I had finally gotten some time off work and could go. It is very hard for me to get away from my job and it is part of the problem on me having a social life where I live. I am always burned out and tired from being so busy. Plus where I live it is definetly not the land of opportunity for meeting attractive single women. She seemed happy that I would fly all the way from Toronto to Kiev to meet with her (a damn long trip) Well let me just say that right from the beginning it was bad. I slipped on some stairs carrying my luggage right at the beginning, fell down and really banged myself up. Then went through the Paris airport (oh ya the Paris airport sucks, they think everyone is carrying a bomb in their shoes, whatever frenchy) Caught my other flight that went to Kiev, felt even more and more airsick. Got through Kiev customs, had some fun watching a drunk guy fall down then go and drink some more vodka he had and then try to steal some Arab/Indian guy's stuff when he wasn't looking while I was waiting to get my luggage. I got some money changed to grievna and actually met a honest really nice taxi driver who took me to the city center for only 170 grievna. He was a super nice guy and he didn't try to rip me off, I was really impressed. So I got my hotel and checked in. I called my girl and she seemed really happy that I was in Kiev. She told me she would call me later that evening and that we would plan on meeting the next day. I am happy, finally I thought something was going right. So I go out for a walk and go to the O'Brien's Pub to have some food and hopefully watch some football. I could not really get a good spot to sit because it was busy but it was okay, I enjoyed watching the pretty girls come in and all of the pretty waitresses. All of the waitresses are looking at me a lot too. Either they think I'm a freak or they think I'm good looking. Hopefully good looking I don't know. :) Later I took a walk on the main street and watched all of the women, went back to my hotel and got myself some much needed sleep. I wake up in the morning and have a cold shower (no hot water, yay!) still I am in good spirits because I will finally meet this girl today. I have dreamed of it for so long. That's when everything really went downhill quick. So I get a phone call and I'm thinking it must be her. But it's some woman who I don't recognize, I think she must be someone who works in the hotel or something. But as she goes on she tells me she is such and such person who works for my girls agency. My girl phoned the agency about us meeting and the agency will set up meeting each other that day and I have to pay the agency 80 dollars to meet her. Okay so you have to imagine what I'm thinking now, actually I'm totally dumbfounded and don't know what to think. I just cannot believe what I'm hearing. I've had some really screwy things happen to me with Ukrainian women and agencies before but this has to take the cake. It takes the whole bakery actually. I say to her why can't this girl just meet me herself, she knows where I am. She says that's the rules of the agency. Pretty silly I think since we don't even use the agency to talk anymore, we use phone calls and email directly. My first thought is to say f-u if this girl wants to meet me she can meet me on her own I'm not paying 80 dollars to see her, what is she a prostitute? But I decide to go along with it because I really do want to see her. Stupid mistake. She says they will meet me in the hotel lobby together and I will pay for the meeting then. So I go down and wait and eventually the most unattractive Ukrainian woman I've ever seen in my life comes up to me and tells me that my girl is waiting for me down the street. I guess coming up to the lobby of the hotel was too much effort for her. I follow this girl out who asks for the money and tries talking to me. We walk a bit and I am already forgetting everything. She is beautiful and seems really nice. Although she does look way older than her pictures. She is 29 but looks more like 40. I'm not too worried about it because she is beautiful and I'm just so glad to see after so long. We decide to get something to drink together. She tells me I look young and she really likes it. (I am 36) I run my fingers through her hair a bunch of times and seems to like this too. Well we talk for about 1 and a half hours while we have a drink. She asks me a lot of things and I ask her things too. It seems to be going well. I am a bit nervous and she knows it but it is just because we have just met and I like her a lot. I think it is a normal thing for someone to feel. She asks me about my past relationships with Ukrainian women. I tell her I've had some meetings but they we're not good and I had one relationship that went bad. I tell her as much about it as I can. Like a typical Ukrainian girl she sides with the girl not me. I am convinced I could have said this girl shot my dog and stole my car and she would have sided with her against me. :) She asks me how many times I met the girl. I tell her 3 times in one year. This is a big mistake. She gets all upset about this saying it was not enough times. I think "well next time I will just hop on my private jet and go over there every weekend to see the girl I'm interested in." I am a regular guy with a regular job. I am not poor but definetly not Donald Trump. I'm starting to get the feeling she is not happy about that. Still I thought things we're good. She wants to go home and change and then meet later. I say I would like to go see a museum or something. I am a big history buff and like ancient history of Russia/Ukraine too. She seems impressed by this too. I also say we could go out for dinner later too and get to know each other more. So we leave and she doesn't really say much to me and when we part I try to give her a kiss on the lips, she moves her head so it lands on her cheek instead. But she says we will meet in this spot in a few hours. I start walking back to the hotel and I start feeling this feeling of dread in my stomach. I just can't explain it at all. Maybe it's because she is not the lovey dovey girl she seemed to be in her letters in real life I don't know. I go back to my room and listen to some music for awhile. I am still thinking about having to pay money to meet this girl and it is really bothering me. But still I am really happy in the thought of seeing her again later. But then I start thinking that this girl won't show up if I go and meet her again. I just feel it. So about 45 minutes before we are about to meet again I hear my phone ring and know what's going to happen next. Of course it is her and she says she can't meet me again. She thinks we are not right for each other. She is also upset about the fact I only met the other girl 3 times in one year. She doesn't like that I was nervous when we met. She was not and just couldn't understand that I could be. I try to explain that it was just first time jitters because I really like her. It is how I am and I will relax when I get more comfortable with her. It does not mean I don't like her because I really do and want to develop a relationship with her. But she says I am not strong enough and doesn't want to be with a man she has to mother. She seems pretty convinced about me after less than 2 hours together it seems. But she also tells me how nice and smart I am and how young and good looking I am too but it is not helping me to feel better. "Hey you are so great but I never want to see you again!" lol! I'm not really sure what to say or do at this point. I am really emotionally exhausted and don't feel like fighting, I also have this nagging feeling that somehow I have just been scammed so I'm not 100 percent sure I even want to try and fight to keep this girl interested in me. I'm also really angry that she is just not giving me a chance to get to know each other better and doesn't appreciate the effort, time and trouble it took to come and see her (which is not unusual with these women, I've run into it before) How do you learn everything about someone in 2 hours? I had the whole week there and wanted to spend as much time with her as I could. I didn't plan to meet anyone else. I had no real back-up plan. (yes I know I am supposed to) I just wanted to see her. So I just let it go and let it end. We say our goodbyes and that is it. I call up a guy I know who has travel agency in Canada and he gets me a direct flight home for the next day. I just can't stay there for one more minute. I want to go home so bad. In the past I might have stuck it out and maybe flirted with some girls in a resteraunt or something but I just don't care anymore. I am tired of trying, I am tired of being duped, I am tired of never being good enough, I'm tired of these girls insane expectations. I'm tired of their insanity. I'm just tired. I leave the hotel the next day and get swindled by the taxi driver who takes me to the airport. He charges me 350 grivnas for the ride. I know he's scamming me because I'm a foreigner but I don't care I just want to leave. I have my long flight home then go through a massive hassle from Canada customs at the Toronto airport for coming home early. Appearently everyone that goes through the airport is a suspected drug smuggler. I didn't get the memo on that. Appearently everyone they hire that works at the airport there are douchebags too. Good to know. So that was my (last) trip to Ukraine. Good times. I don't know where to start.....I too write my experiences and enjoy reading others...good or bad..since they are learning experiences. Sounds like you just picked a bad apple. Now if you had others apples to see...maybe you would have stayed the whole week and not felt like you were at the end of road. Sure, agency's are a problem but I use them only in very first meeting and not again. In hindsight, since you were talking with girl directly, when agency called you THAT was sign you were used by the girl.....maybe she probably also didn't find you to her liking, sorry. I am one of preachers of seeing multiple women, if needed, doesn't mean you can stay with your primary girl whole time, also I like to visit 2 cities. At moment, I focus on Chisinau and Odessa, where I have friends there to make sure my time is filled with or without a girl. It is amazing situations you can get into just hanging around with frinds.....the girls you can run into by chance. Hopefully you will gain more insight and try this again. Usually an english speaking girl in only associated with an agency because she works for one or owns it. I had an incident where a girl I met on a pay per letter site turned out to be an agency owner who was using her own profile as a honey pot to correspond with lots of men and pocketing the fees (search for "alana kazan" on this forum). She even came on this forum and tried to deny it until someone else found a site where she was listed as company director for an agency ... Do not underestimate the lengths these women will go to just to pocket a few dollars, remember that 80 dollars is a good weeks wages or more for a typical pofessional person over there. Also the lying about the age thing is something a genuine girls wouldn't do, I mean you find out soon enough if they ever had to make a visa application. So you've been scammed by a pro if that's any consolation, well I guess its better than knowing you were rejected after 2 hours by someone genuine. Shows how scammers are evolving though, gone are the days when they would overtly ask for money without having met you for real, no, the modern scammer is much more subtle and patient.
