He read that from Russian news and further, he claims there were protests and some were killed. The first two months of Ukraine protests were peaceful. Ukrainians do not like make violent protests. I watched the news all the time. I did not see such news. I recently searched for it, I could not find it. I came to conclusion that this news was made up by the Russian news. When the Ukrainian protests reached at least 100,000 - pictures supported the numbers. There were reports that it was about a million. That is believable. Yet, Russian news reported 10,000. When I discussed this with a friend on vk, she said she saw news that said 3,000. I just saw a news report that there was a massive protest for the Ukrainian invasion of Russia. I am sure this got a lot of press in Russia, and but not in the US. Other twists are the murderers are the protesters... I remember the US ship that visited Odessa,, I didn’t think it was 5 - 6 years ago,,, maybe 4 to 5 years ago but who knows,,, time flies. But I DO remember that it was met with open arms,,,, the sailors got the royal treatment! Plus, I was in Odessa Jan-Feb 2009 and 2010,,,, no anti American sentiment! kiwinorth Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 6/25/2014 9:44:26 AM   yes crazy stuff,, no i didnt read, i saw it on Russian news when in Russia,,, Belgorod to be exact. it was translated to me by a friend as we watched Russian news. i believed what i saw until you opened my eyes RB, it was so very convincing, it really was. a whole lot of bashing of anti American(or ship) protesters in Odessa,, well it claimed. it was very bloody and ugly why it stuck in my memory. i cannot believe their propaganda rubbish got me hook line and sinker. just shows how easy it is to be fooled. when i think about it now, it may of been two different pieces of video,, the rioting which was some what grainy and then the real clear stuff, they trying to interview the bashed up motherf#ckers. i remember it because of the horrible sight it was, it left a very bad taste in my mouth how police could do such to their own so violently over a silly protest. actually its a bit of a buzz to actually had experienced it (seen it:) i laugh about it now, been fooled so easy. but if it fooled me so well, think of how many Russians it did also. building anti Ukrainian decent must of been its part reason. it shows Puton has been making steps and plans on something for a long time now.. yes i think you are right RB,,, and i did see it, it was also translated very plainly to my ears. at the time i was taking in anything on the Georgian crisis, why those ships drew my attention. at that time Russian TV said Moscow also sent some of its Russian fleet from somewhere(not black sea fleet) to intervene with these two American ships on the black sea,, this was before they or one of them docked at Odessa,, nothing came of that. wineman Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 6/25/2014 12:38:51 PM   Go to Russia Today, www.rt.com and read the Kremlin's version of the news. [As a historical note, before Putin, post-Soviet Russia had a quite good free press. But for years and years now, almost ALL Russian TV, including "reality shows" and even situation comedies have been saturated with Kremlin political propaganda.] It's in our human nature that when we see compelling images with our own eyes -- however staged or manipulated those images may be -- they seem to be Truth. I am now in Ukraine, and in the frequent discussions of politics, my amazement has grown even stronger about how thoroughly people are deceived by Russian TV. So much of what Russian TV has shown is not simply wrong, but actually impossible! Russia's main message since Euromaidan started -- a message that even the Kremlin will gradually have to abandon -- has been "Ukrainians hate Russians" and want to harass, oppress, or even kill them! Considering the composition of Ukraine's 45 million population, the comparison would be: imagine that in Nazi Germany, instead of persecuting Jews, Hitler had decided to persecute everyone with brown eyes. Simply impossible! But even though the Kremlin thesis was blindingly stupid, at least 100 million viewers of Russian TV seem to have swallowed it. This includes millions of Ukrainians who prefer to speak Russian, even though they have ALWAYS lived in Ukraine on equal terms with those who prefer to speak Ukrainian. If you ask a "Russian-speaker" about the cruel oppression from the Kyiv government, they ONLY example they can give is that official documents must be in Ukrainian. THAT'S IT. I believe that Putin is a rather crude character. People have given him a lot of credit for being subtle and clever, a sort of chess master. I don't buy it -- he's shrewd like Don Corleone in the Godfather, but no deeper than that.
