Well finally I have been able to get this silly site to work today !!!
I got back yesterday, but until now I haven't been able to get to the main forum page, let alone been able to post anything !!
I dunno !! I go away for 10 days and the whole place falls apart !! ;o))
Well !!!!!
Siberia, Omsk, and Natash` ... :o))
I'm not going satisfy any of you pervs by going into the gory details, but I think that if I tell you that I will be back there with Natash` on the 4th of June you can get a reasonable idea of how well it went :o))
We haven't (by mutual agreement) discussed marriage as yet, I felt and Natasha agreed with me, that we need at least a few meetings before we seriously broach the subject, simply to be sure we will still feel the same about it in a few months time. But while we were together we were inseparable :o)) (unless someone had used a crow bar, but thats probably too much information :o)) )
Better to take a few months now than to end up in the same mess I was in last year again !!!
If its going to work then taking our time now wont do any harm, at least we have had our initial meeting now and it went perfectly for us both :o)) There is a lot to be said for getting this traumatic event over with as soon as possible, because make no bones about it, it is as scary as hell for both us and the ladies, until you actually look into each others eyes for the first time, and I have done this 3 times now, flown 1000`s of miles to meet a woman I have grown fond of, and it Does Not get any easier !!
Number one turned out to be a scammer and I sussed her out very fast once we were actually in the same place, number two many of you know I eventually married only to get burned by her 3 months later, (tomorrow would have been our first wedding anniversary :o// ) maybe its going to be a case of third time lucky, we shall see :o)))
Since we have now met phone calls are no problem as we are both fully comfortable with talking on the phone, now that Natash` knows my capabilities of Russian and I know her English skills, we can compensate and help each other, as I said before, sometimes talking on the phone can be very hard when you haven't met, but it does work for some of course, doesn't it Del ? ;o))
Well thats the brief over view, I'm sure over the next weeks many other facts will become relevant in posts I will feel obliged to make :o))
It looks like you lot have all been very busy while I have been gone :o))
I'm buggered if I am going to trawl through the whole lot I have missed, I have work and a life to participate in too you know ;o)))
Anybody who has any Decent questions to ask, I will be only too happy to answer, at length, as I always do :o))
Is there any posts/ threads anyone thinks I should take a look at, just in case I can help or contribute in any way ? ;o))
Cya all tomorrow
Tim
Director of the "Keepin it real" department :o))
Oh yes,
My personal welcome to the two new ladies, Cinderella and Ptichka, good to have you here ladies, and I hope you will both enjoy your time with us, and stay a long while :o))
And to the boys,
Now we have "Pink ones" in among us "Blue ones" keep it clean fellas :o))
Ladies do like gentlemen you know, and especially FSU ladies :o))
Hello there Tim! Glad to hear you had a great time amd that everything went to well with Natasha. For a while I didn't think you would make it back. How was the weather?
As for questions I have plenty, and each one needs an essay-like response in APA format. Don't feel shy about footnotes and bibliography!
1) How's their beer?
2) Did you watch any hockey over there, he asked expecting the answer no? They are, after all, the second best country playing the game (Anyone want to venture who is first? MUAHAHAHA)
and finally
3) Do their toilets flush clockwise or counter?
Anything regarding socio-economic analysis is frowned upon Tim, unless it centers around beer and hockey. Oh, wait a minute, I have a final question for you...
4) How many blue and white leaf fans ran outside their homes in a complete ferver when Toronto beat the living sh!t out of Ottawa in the first round of the playoffs?
1) How's their beer?
Dunno mate, I don't drink beer, its fattening and tastes terrible !!! But the Bodka is extremely smooth :o)))
Unlike that Smirnoff crap we have in the UK thats supposed to be top quality and tastes like rocket fuel !!! But I could have answered that question 2 years ago !! Remember I have spent a lot of time in the FSU already eh !! :o)
2) Did you watch any hockey over there, he asked expecting the answer no? They are, after all, the second best country playing the game (Anyone want to venture who is first? MUAHAHAHA)
There is a huge hockey stadium in Omck as it happens, but no we didn't go to watch any this trip. The river Om was frozen over when I arrived but they were only fishing through holes in the ice rather than playing hockey on it. It thawed after I had been there 4 days (Must have been my charm and personality having that warming effect on the whole city, didn't need to worry about that with Natash` though, she wasn't the slightest bit cold from the minute she met me at the airport :o)) ) As the ice melted the damn city temperature dropped by 4 degrees !! I found that very strange, but apparently its usual in Omsk !!
and finally
3) Do their toilets flush clockwise or counter?
You got these questions from Bob and Doug didn't you eh !!!!
I cant say I noticed, but Russian toilets are a little different from ours, you will see what I mean when you see one, but the hole down which the water goes is at the front, not in the middle, and it flushes with all the water coming from the back toward you and then down, very interesting concept and will I'm sure be of amusement for at least the first time you use one for its whole intended purpose !!!
Question 4 doesnt even deserve an answe mate :o)) It isnt about Russia or Girls :o))
> I'm not going satisfy any of you pervs by going into the gory details
Don't worry, I don't mind getting a personal email. ;)
> as I said before, sometimes talking on the phone can be very hard when you haven't met, but it does work for some of course, doesn't it Del ? ;o))
Yes, it can but you at times you need to have a great tolerance and understanding. If you do, the rewards are worth it. Say no more.
Like you, I am starting to scare myself *less with this whole experience and every day seems to be filled with concern for the reason that I won't naively travel so far without some kind of security.
I am glad that you've had a wonderful time and not rushing head over heels into full-on commitment. I'll post some questions later, I have my own troubles to deal with first and 6am is an early start for me!
> Now we have "Pink ones" in among us "Blue ones" keep it clean fellas :o))
I always keep my pink one, clean. lol
Is that all right for you? :)
I want to know more about the "first moment you met". The feelings going through customs in anticipation to looking and seeing her for the first time. How quickly the ice was broken and how; any delay there may have been to connect being with her as opposed to the way you had connected being apart. Did that bulk order of viagra you had mistakenly routed to my address do the trick? Now that you can put a voice to her pictures, is it everything you imagined and more? What kind of accommodation did you opt for? How easy is it to communicate with the generation above (parents) ? Will I be getting 25% of the massive savings you will now be making in international phone calls? lol
As for sat at the back taking advice, I already know the appreciation you will get in return for having made the effort to learn, spell and write the language; even if it's just a few words, sentances and as simple as her name.
dma
All that effor you go to is good, but remeber this, she is still interested in the true you. So be yourself. the truth is, if you do not have that initial spark, all other efforts are for nothing.
As I recently wrote in one of letters to her, if this doesn't work (long term) I would still continue my learning of the language - it is interesting and helps develop your own personal skill-set aside from the mundane routine and narrow interests that most people fall into not prperare to comtemplate new ventures. When I learned German at school (albeit not very well) I didn't think what practical use would come of it until 4 years ago when I ended up being in partnership with a German company commuting on occasion - without that groundwork having been done, I'd have felt completely uncomfortable to the point of the venture not occuring at all, so that effort did lead to something.
Additionally, the effort now has improved relations giving a greater chance for the spark to occur and more importantly for her to know me "better" and I know this by the way our talking with each other has improved considerably in the last few weeks. I'm a terrible flirt and tease (and I don't mean bad!) and trying to get that across in spoken language without some kind of effort in translation is near on impossible. Now, I am suceeding to the point that my humour leaves her in hysterics to the point of wetting her knickers and THAT IS ME!!!. :-))
The true self has to come out one way or another and you need to find a way that works for you but the situation we have found ourselves in requires that we have to try harder than what we're accustom to.
It is never for nothing dma, just the way you said it gave the impression that hard work on that point will always be rewarded. Of coarse you girl will appeciate it. I know some Russian and it has helped me a lot and learning any language is good. Just that I have read some post here and some people are under the impression that if you do this, and if yoy do that, 1 plus 2 equalls happiness. I know someone who went to russia, put in no effort at all, met a girl and has had no problems ( wish that was me acually) I did not mean to out you or you advice.
"Always" is perhaps something that cannot be guaranteed but it would be fairly reasonable to assume that:
no effort = little reward
especially as this is a competitive marketplace.
I am under no illusion that any basic learning = love and happiness
and there seems to be no negative reason why not to do this, if anything lots of positives on why we should motivate ourselves to learn and understand.
But at the end of the day, you generally get out what you put in as with anything in life. My point is that without the effort, the chances of getting your personality across in respect of the opportunity to have a "proper" meeting where the real spark has chance to ignite requires effort far and above what we normally do. Most girls IMO seem to want to see, no offence, "anyone" that will visit offering a request to visit without long correspondance or talking (getting to know that person); if you already have a girl that just wants you and only you to visit...that's a big difference and clearly something has occured to create that bond excluding others. There's never a guarantee but I know that the effort I make will make me and who am I stand out from the crowd and that I can judge rationally have progressed and struggled previously having made little effort. At some point, you both have to learn - the sooner it is done the better.
I agree. Makes you wonder why so many girls looking for English speaking husbands have no english at all them selves as, after all, it is them who eventually have to live inside this language, not just skeak a few phases. Maybe that is a good thing to look for in a girl as it may show her williness to put in hard work in all areas of life. But of coarse, money can hold these girls back, I know
Maybe that's a question for one of our forum girls to answer.
As a guy, consider for a moment (and I have already as a short term solution to being together) the difficulty we would have if the shoe was on the other foot, instead we expect them to make and cope with those dramatic life changes.
Regarding the "effort" thing (sorry to drag it out), I believe it's a contributory factor in so far as I believe we all discriminate in our selection process. I know personally when I started this had a cut-off point in terms of language ability in the girl.
<4 rating = I am not interested.
It may seem unfair to some but we all have some kind of system of elimination.
I am back. Looked through the thread and should say I am on you side. I respect all the effort you put in getting over the language barrier. Moreover all the guys would prefer to meet a girl who could speak at least basic English as for them it is really hard to make themselves learn Russian, which is , I do beleive is complicated for foreigners. But we have a good example - you! Keep it the same. Remember I suggested my help? You are always welcome to talk po-russki so mnoy.
lol ty marsh. should "so" be "s" in the last line?
I think you have to look beyond the fact of whether girl likes boy & boy likes girl which more often the case than not, they will! I think it's a question of can they realistically live and communicate together?
Clearly a lot of guys expect the woman to do all the grafting but I'm a person that favours as much balance as possible. it's not that difficult (it's not that easy either) but just requires motivation and determination but given the end goal I don't see what more reason anyone needs?
Thanks ID :o))
I know of one beer there which is very popular and as far as I kinow available in many Russian cities, its called Siberia Crown.
Del`
"first moment you met".
It was at Omck airport where there are no cutoms to negotiate as I had already done that at Moscow. If you go to any other city in the FSU you will go through Moscow first to change planes and also do customs, so when you arrive in your girls city you wont have anything to worry about except getting your case and then meeting her immediately after. In fact at Omck you go into a hall to get your case and to get to there you go out of the gate and around, so I met Natasha before I actually got my case and bag from the conveyor, and it was perfect from the very first moment :o)) I got a huge hug and lots of kisses, and she didn't want to let my hands go after that coz she was cold and I was warm, as I usually am :o))
The feelings going through customs in anticipation to looking and seeing her for the first time.
(covered that in the last bit)
How quickly the ice was broken and how; 10 seconds, with a kiss and a hello, in Russian of course ;o)) And from then on we were inseparable :o)
Any delay there may have been to connect being with her as opposed to the way you had connected being apart.
None whatsoever, but of course everyone is different !!
Did that bulk order of Viagra you had mistakenly routed to my address do the trick?
I forgot to take it with me !!!
But I didn't need it anyway ;o))
Now that you can put a voice to her pictures, is it everything you imagined and more?
Much much more, and as i said, in 4 weeks and a bit I'm going back for another 10 days at very least :o))
What kind of accommodation did you opt for?
I had rented a flat, as I think I mentioned before I left, but I had the "private" invitation, so renting a flat was perfectly legal and in order.
The flat was lovely, and we were very comfortable there.
How easy is it to communicate with the generation above (parents)
Got on like a house on fire with them both. Dad used to be a pilot of military transport planes, so my knowledge of aviation and a keen interest in planes made it easy to get along with him fine. Mum just thought I was great because I treated Natasha so well :o)) Natash`s sister wanted me to teach her how to swear in English !! But I politely refused and she was fine about it :o))
