Just to deviate from the unproductive and politically charged tone of the latest threads/postings and to follow form with my natural ability to bring up controversial topics to center stage I ask those who know better (okokokok...for once I admit I don't know it all)....
....Do FSU women marry NON-caucasian foreigners?
Asians?
Blacks?
Indians?
Albinos?
Green martians with antennae on their heads?
Olga, Pitchka, Timh....fire away, lol
And let the chips fall where they may.....
And damn it, do not call me racist, lol....One of my best friends is a black educated american man who is just as sick and tired of western women as most of us are and he is trying to gauge his chances to find an FSU woman to build a family.
As I will speak about Ukraine, and Lugansk in particulary, I will say. Due to the fact that in Lugansk there are 5 Universities, which are rather popular, especially medical university among foreigners, a lot of foreigners come to Lugansk to study.
And getting married with a foreigner existed in the times of the USSR even, but then the society would not agree with such a marriage, and a newly-married couple would have to go over many problems.
Now many girls marry Black men and people treat them rather nicely, except some of coures (but I guess that's true for any country), a couple of years ago many girls were getting married with Asian men, and were turning into Islam (but that aroused mis-understanding, when you see those girls in the streets all in black, or at least in the clothes from feet to head - when it's so hot on the streets...it's emberrasing). But now girls don't have such a big wish to get married with Asian men.
Indians, don't know for sure, as in my life I saw one, and if my memory doesn't play a trick on me:)))
Green martians with antennae on their heads? Haven't seen them lately here:))
(reference to Futurama episode where Bender the robot was turned into a human, and the antenna on his head disappeared)
Bender: Hey, my antenna's gone! Nah, it just moved. I'm not getting good reception on it though. Maybe if I wiggle it around a little...
Fry: Bender, no! You'll make God cry!
Actually, the best material in that light was Red Dwarf where Kriton turned human.
<section of dialogue>
Kryten: You don't have them. Just the zoom. Mmm. Oh well, no, that's
fine, that's great, no, that's, that's really great. That's great.
Now then, er, my, my nipples don't work.
[pause]
Lister: Er, in what way don't work?
Kryten: Well, er, when I was a mechanoid, the right nipple nut was used to,
er, regulate body temperature, while the left nipple nut was used
mainly to, er, pick up short-wave radio transmissions. Now, what
I'm saying is, no matter how hard I twiddle it, I can't seem to
pick up Jazz FM.
Hope there are other Red Dwarf fans in this forum!
Easy answer:
Very, Very rarely does it happen, let alone work.
I have never met any FSU woman, and I have met hundreds of friends of my X wife and other friends of other people there, have married anyone which we would term as "black".
I hasten to add here that I do know a few who have married Korean men, but on the other hand I also heard that Russian women are very against marriage to Muslim men too (Uzbekistan, Kazakstan areas especially)
These are just fatcts as I know them, they could be missleading or wrong, but I thought I woudl share what I personally know and have been told :o)
Personally I have friends of many races, but I do recall my X Russian wife commenting "So many black paople !!" with a rather disdainful look on her face when we were in Lodon while she was here.
It was a side of her I hadnt seen before, and to be frank, rather annoyed me, but I let it go and nothing was ever mentioned again.
I can only guess atht her attitude is in some ways typical of a lot of FSU women, but of course there are bound to be just as many that are quite the opposite to her.
Toad- I have seen a couple of wedding pictures of black men marrying Russian women. There chances are probably lower but not impossible. If your letter writting to women is anything like your posts on this forum, I put your chances far below your friends! LOL
I have heard the same as you Tim. Being of good Russian stock seems to be important to them also since even if you look Russian, if you don't have a Russian last name you can not be considered Russian, even if you are a citizen.
Red Dwarf........I thought I was the only fan. Can't get it anymore, though.
DaleE,
you're weirder than me...:D
but no, Marc is a gentleman and a scholar....Based on his and my own findings what tim says seems to hold true as the general rule.
Tim,
Your X's disdainful gestures/attitude are typical of a person not accustomed to share breathing air with people of different ethnic backgrounds.
It's a lesser form of racism cause by the natural fear and rejection of the unknown. The worst kind is what you see widespread in the US, both from whites and black alike.
"since even if you look Russian, if you don't have a Russian last name you can not be considered Russian, even if you are a citizen". Man and how can you know what the real Russian or Ukrainian type seams to be??:) There were so many people, from different countries living here (in Ukraine), starting with the 9 century, when Ukraine was christened, or even earlier...that there is nobody who looks like a real ukraine should look like. OK the majority has some features of real Ukrainians, shape of head, color of hair (which is supposed to be black), rather dark skin color...and so on. But you will never find anobody who has all these features:) And besides during the USSR if a person wanted to get a good job, he had to change his last name to something that sounded Russian, so many Ukrainians, Jewish, Gypsees and so on changed their last names:)
In this situation, my last name is somewhat strange, not a single teacher of Ukrainian or Russian, could tell me of what nationality it is:))
