Believe it or not, there are SOME MIXED RACE peoples in UA and RU,
I mean direct white and black interracial mix, though only a very small few,
probably not enough to be noticed.
My lady friend recanted to me after i told her i was curious of what
she would say upon asking her, after we had been talking for several weeks,
i have been wondering, but knew she had to be okay with it, yet still wanted to know what she had to say about the fact that i was
mixed of color.
Of course, true to form with her, she said it is more important how the
person is and what's inside of them. She told me about a young little girl
that she, her sister and her friends knew that is essentially their neighbor,
hence an Ukraine native that is mixed as i am and how sweet and beautiful the
kid is.
That struck me for i always thought that, that kind of thing was more or
less nonexistent, her being from Odessa.
Just now i recall watching a VH1 episode of "For the love of Ray j",
young U.S. R&B singer and a mixed Russian girl being one of the ladies
vying for his affections, of course the american girls, black or white,
had to act true to form and typically american, with all the drama and attitude.
I geuss that's what makes those reality shows what they are and so pop here,
still life imitates art, or is it the other way around, or maybe a little bit of both.
In my experience of Ukraine and western Russia, most of the people I see on the street look quite north-European. Rarely, I see people who look east Asian (I think most of eastern Siberia, and in some of the former-Soviet southern republics, a big proportion of the population looks - to my eyes, anyway - Chinese or Chinese-European).
More in Ukraine than in Russia, I see a lot of variation in skin and hair color. The ethnic history of Ukraine is fairly complex, involving migrations from different parts of Eurasia at different times. To see a "coffee-colored" person is, I think, unusual, but not shocking.
What is truly rare is to see people with dark brown skin - over there, they are so few as to be very noticeable in the crowd.
My guess is that women in that part of the world don't have a particularly negative attitude toward people with a high degree of African ancestry -- it's just really unfamiliar. I think of when I was a kid, for those who grew up in lily-white suburbs never seeing a black person (and in those days, blacks weren't even much on TV or movies), first encounters simply felt strange.
As has been mentioned before in this topic, a small percentage of women are very specific about not wanting Arabs/Turks/Muslims to write to them. I suppose this is more for cultural than racial reasons.
So in a lot of words, I'm saying I don't think that these women necessarily like only white men - it's just what they are used to.
Ukraine does not have he same exposure to black people as most european countries. If you're black (coloured or whatever you're allowed to call it these days) you'd be looked upon as a curiosity.
I doubt if the women would be interested in you..regardless of what she says about the person inside...etc.
Worse case scenario would be if you had the crap beaten out of you for being different. (or worse as what has been happeneing in Russia)
Young Ukrainian men are angry at the state of their country and lack of secure future and look for ways to vent.
Other things they are angry about...they see European and American men showing disrespect to their women by coming to their country thinking they can pick up a poor girl for little baubles.
I don't rememeber seeing any black ppl in Ukraine...but then I wasn't looking.
Hulahand had an explanation that AOB already went through all of their members which is why I am not getting letters. It's not a good explation because they are getting new ones everyday. But, it is the only other explanation other than....
I turned my profile on more than a month ago at AOB and to see. I got one letter. I turned my profile on at RWBrides less that a week ago. I got 21 letters. Something is up.
When I moved to Florida from West Virginia, I was harassed for being a "Yankee." I insisted I was not a Yankee and was told, "Anything north of Grove City Florida
is Yankee to me boy."
Former Yugoslavia where people look and speak the same, absolutely hate each other, a deep seated hatred for years and years, as bad or worse than any racial hatred anywhere in the world.
Interesting, my Russian tutor has seen photos of ladies I have written to and commented that some are not Russian, perhaps they are Chinese or Asian.
I think that any dating site would not care what race and/or color someone is as long as the money is coming in.
It's not the site itself but those who frequent and respond to it who determines whether or not it is a racist site.
I would think that also, Texasdude, but why 21 letters from one site in about a week and 1 letter from another in more than one month? The women featured live in the same cities.
I already have a Ukrainian girlfriend and I am not answering them. I am just puzzled. In all fairness, AOB has provided me with query credits and videos at no cost.
RB: I am thinking maybe AOB are actually trying to end their evil ways of sending out phony intro letters without the girls knowledge to the men. When I used that site in the past I got about 10 to 15 letters everyday and I know that every other man on the site we're getting them too. I can't see you not getting letters because you are not white. There was one poster on here before who had a phony profile on AOB with a picture of an old man in a wheelchair who's hobbies included deep sea diving, hanggliding and sky diving (that was classic BTW:)) and HE got letters sent to him! LOL! :)))
Maybe they have gotten rid of their spamming practices? Like I said I have not used their site for a long time but it's the only thing I can think of really.
I don't know what "very little correlation" means. I went to Ukraine three times. They were all from pay per letter sites - AOB and RWGlobe. I can see that that some letters are probably written by another or they had some help, but they all met me and were accomodating (although there were issues with the first two).
I didn't upload my picture on AOB when I first signed up for about a month. I got 10-15 letters daily then. Mondelo, we need to hear from a current AOB member.
Durak,
Thanks for pointing out those details and distinctions,
these are things i have always wondered and thought about,
even learned and what you say makes the most sense to me.
I think a big reason for that part of the world being such
a great interest to me is, i am always intrigued by the diversity
yes there are a great number of North European origins
in Russia proper but as you cover all of the Former Soviet republics
and southern regions, especially Ukraine and southern and further on to Odessa region even.
The variance and diversity is incredible in that part of the world.
Not only peoples that have some Asian influence mixed in with their
Caucasian but due to Crimea being so southerly,
its access to the black sea and bordering mediteranea countries,
Greece, Turkey and Arabic origin bordered regions,
which makes for a wider range of type and appearance of woman.
We know that throughout history, they all have had close access to one another and moved about freely from trade and other affairs.
To me, all of the history and differences are amazing.
I'm sure a lot of it is a case of something they are not used to,
if generations are so use to living in the same place and not having gotten around to other places, peoples and things.
Still, how close it is from Iraq, to Armenia and Azerbaijan and the
proximity and access that Israel, Jordan, Syria have to Cyprus.
How often and easily people go from Odessa to Istanbul and vice versa.
But possibly some women from these areas might have an attraction,
as long as it is not a case of something being Tabu,
not to the degree of curiosity or novelty but i would think that any1
being aware and intelligent would know of the history of such a variation,
of people being from so many different places by living so close in proximity.
I haven't heard any1 say anything about this site Fiance.com,
i think It's pretty good with no content restrictions.
As much as i like 1st. Int'l Marriage it is too expensive,
at least here you don't have to pay for individual letters
just your membership, emails are unlimited as well as both acquiring the
personal information, there are some sites that are totally free, but few and then there are the few that have an annual membership
with unlimited email contact with no restriction to information.
I have come to a strong belief that it is highly important for
a woman to be able to speak English or whatever language,
if she says she is interested to be with and move to the mans country.
She should then learn at least an above basic level of the language,
it will only benefit themselves and make everything easier all the way around.
Because of the relative lack of natural barriers in the grasslands that stretch most of the way across central Eurasia, people have been migrating east/west for thousands of years. In more recent centuries, there have been big influxes (into Russia) of people from Scandinavia and central Europe, and more recently Turkic peoples from lands that Russia conquered to the south.
In population terms, Russia is a great melting pot, providing a fascinating variety in shapes of faces and coloration of eyes, hair, and skin - which underscores how crazy is the talk of the white supremacists there about "pure" Russians or Ukrainians. Geneticists can tell us, all people are fairly close cousins!
And to me, you make a very important point about language. To begin, it is much easier to get acquainted with a woman, and to find out whether you are really compatible, if you can speak the language. But if she doesn't know your language yet - unless you plan to settle in her country, it is very important that she be studying hard and willing to learn. Otherwise, life can get very difficult when you bring her home.
i am asian and have a white wif from odessa....we have two mixed race boys....i never had a problem with dating before i met the missus.
some of the girls. well most of the girls expect their western dater to spend spoend spend...it seems that if your asian (or turkish looking then you are tight!!!)
I dont think they are racist but i think that "Political Correctness" hasn't hit ukraines shores as yet.
Fiance.com is good. I complained to Olga about the site and she said,
"Join the site and see for yourself." This is a good site to scattershoot a lot
of letters. You can write and receive as many as you want. It definitely beats pay by letter sites.
I have used VolgaGirl.com. It is a pay by word site. Can get expensive. Letters cost $6 to $12 each way.
Not a big database of girls but all seem real. The interpreters and office staff are first rate.
No problems getting phone and internet info from girls. The interpretations are the best I have used and
Helen in the office is very helpful telling you if the girl you are writing is serious or not.
Have also used Khersongirls.com. I am in the U.S. and Kevin ran a background check on me before I could
join. Impressed that he is thinking about the girls as well. Pay by letter site. Those girls who have
not received many letters are $5 per letter. Others are about $10 per letter. Very expensive to get
personal information, as much as $49.95. The girls from Kherson all seem genuine. The girls from other
parts of Ukraine on his site is hit or miss.
I asked my Russian tutor, "Are FSU women racist?"
She simply said, "Of course." I showed her a photo of someone I was writing to who was with her daughter.
She said, "The woman is Ukrainian but the daughter has thin eyes, she must be Chinese."
We here are more tolerant or pretend to be but the fact is racism exists to some degree in most cultures.
How then shall we live?
Actually. Just let everyone choose who they are comfortable with.
Some like mixing, some don't
Those who like mixed will find others who like mixing - they will even consider it exotic!
Those who don't like mixing won't. Sometimes it is even extremely awkward to choose someone who is of the same colour,
but speak a different language, and follow a different culture.
It is someone's right to NOT choose YOU, as it is YOUR right not to choose someone else!
To call such people named because your EGO hurts because you are "rejected" is being grossly misguided.
Get over it, get over yourself .. MOVE on .. you will survive and find mutual love .. somewhere .. :)
Amusing that I was only having a conversation with my Australian colleague today that the resort, that I am developing, might not have enough 'shade' spots.
I told him, and it's true, brown people might want to be white and hide from the sun at every given opportunity but white people actually want to be brown and for every available minute during their annual vacation(s) they are attempting to change their skin colour to brown.
The beautiful lady that sits approxdimately one metre from me as I write, well she's of a golden brown complexion and I wouldn't change her for anything.
