Remember the Air France Concorde Crash? ... The only Concorde to be lost?
Someone tried to tell me only a couple of weeks ago that it didn't crash because the wing was on fire, that all the fuel went from one wing causing it to lose trim or whatever ... But it crashed because it was 2,000kg overweight and it rotated 11kt below the recommended speed for rotating.
They didn't read it in any official report ... They read it on some website ... So it must be true!
I barely remember the crash,,, and have no idea of why. There was talk of metal fatigue though?
The overwhelming majority of news outlets have been reporting this story about the WMDs,,,, and it seems that the only thing being argued, is the condition of the weapons,,, are they usable or not?
I highly encourage anyone who has doubts,, to go over there and open one up!
Yes, a Continental Airlines DC10 dropped a strip of metal on the runway ... However such a problem was known about, British Airways Concorde fleet had "mudguards" fitted to prevent such an incident, alas Air France couldn't be bothered!
This brief BBC news-video shows how the fighters on both sides are keen to resume conflict. A separatist rebel leader insists a new independent state called "New Russia" will extend through eastern and southern Ukraine, and into Moldova up to the border of Romania. And a far right Ukrainian ideologue who "hates Russians", gives the ceasefire a maximum of one week.
POROSHENKO CLAIMS THAT THE MAJORITY OF RUSSIAN FORCES HAVE LEFT DONBASS
Petro Poroshenko, Ukraine's president, says that according to Ukrainian intelligence reports, two-thirds of Russia's military forces in eastern Ukraine have returned to Russia.
Two caveats:
1) Of course, they can return in one day.
2) Poroshenko will be under enormous pressure from the majority of public opinion, and so has an incentive to paint this cease-fire -- which arguably, at least, is a surrender to Putin -- in the rosiest terms he can.
UKRAINE PROJECTED TO BE ABLE TO MAKE IT THROUGH COMING WINTER WITHOUT RUSSIAN GAS
From Russian news service RIA Novosti:
"Ukraine can pass the winter without Russian gas under the condition of reverse supply from Europe and gas savings of 25%, the head of Naftogaz Ukraine Andrew Kobolev said in an interview with Ukrainian 'Fifth channel' on Thursday evening."
Ukraine has been storing as much gas as possible (several countries have large underground caverns set up for this purpose), and made arrangements to buy "reverse flow" gas from Europe, particularly from neighboring Moldova.
The traditional late-summer shut-off of water heating systems, usually a few weeks in duration, has been extended into October in order to bank up Ukraine's gas reserves for winter. Note that the projected ability to manage the winter depends on 25% reduction in gas consumption, which should be manageable because heavily subsidized gas prices in Ukraine encourage wasteful usage until now.
According to Kobolev, the reduction of gas consumption in the Eastern war zone has helped Ukraine to save enough gas to manage winter needs. So ironically, Putin's savagery has accidentally helped his victim.
How naïve for this truce. It is merely a stall to send in the cargo trucks to rearm the traitors and not be attacked. We will see renewed attacks by Russian forces in the next few days.
America thought they where so clever getting rid of sadam and now look at the joint .
to get rid of putin .... whats the point in that ? so some worse nutter can take his place .
its time America just stfu and stay out of everyones way
they are the reason the world is like it is now .
putin does a damb good job of running things why rock the apple kart.
NATO'S SENIOR MILITARY COMMANDER SAYS UKRAINE CEASEFIRE "IN NAME ONLY"
US Air Force General Philip Breedlove, presently serving as NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe, said today "...the situation in Ukraine is not good right now. Basically we have a ceasefire in name only."
He said violence levels in Ukraine, including the number of artillery rounds fired in the past few days, are as high as before the ceasefire.
He went on to say that the number of Russian troops in Donbass has decreased in recent days, but because the entire border between rebel-controlled territory and Russia is being held wide open by both sides, it has become impossible to estimate the numbers accurately -- and in any case, moving Russian soldiers just across the border means little, because Russia can speedily send them back into Ukraine.
"In Moscow, thousands march in protest of Russia's Ukraine policy.
On Sunday, thousands marched in Moscow to protest the conflict in eastern Ukraine and the Kremlin's "irresponsible, aggressive policy" in the region.
It took weeks for Moscow police to grant the Parnas, Yabloko, and Solidarity opposition parties permission to march, the Los Angeles Times reports, and organizers were not allowed to speak to the crowd. The mostly peaceful march — which had anywhere from 5,000 to 26,000 people, depending on if you asked police or organizers — began in Pushkin Square and went about two miles to Prospect Sakharov, with just one skirmish between protestors and counter-demonstrators.
Several protestors said they did not think the protest would cause the Kremlin to change its course. "They still have an imperial mentality," a biology professor named Lyudmila told the Times. "What can you do?"
Since fighting in Ukraine began in April, at least 3,000 people have died. Russian polls show that a majority of Russians are opposed to the country becoming engaged in war in Ukraine."
Ukraine's administration and forces should not stand by and allow the Mistral class ship, "Vladivostok" to be delivered to Russia. They need to destroy it in it's berth, as well as it's sister ship, just as the Israelis did to the nuclear power plant in Iraq in 1980. WITHOUT DELAY!!!!!!
It appears that Poroshenko has had enough of the lies, the manipulations by delay and has replaced the governor of Donetsk Oblast with a general. Also he is weeding out or the weak, duplicitous and corrupt bureaucrats that do not "ride for the brand".
OBAMA SEND ASSISTANCE!!!! DO YOUR JOB!! THE POSITION AS WORLD LEADER HAS BEEN EMPTY LONG ENOUGH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm out of touch here being without TV, radio, newspapers etc.
Was there a big "who ha" if this weekend's Formula 1 race should go ahead in Sochi, Russia and, if so, on what grounds did they decide that it should go ahead?
I've been wondering the same thing ... I've faithfully watched F1 races during the past 17 years, and most of the few I missed were due to travel in the former Soviet Union. But I haven't been following the sport's headlines and politics this year.
Though FIA is the sanctioning body, I assume that the racing calendar is set by the Formula 1 Group (FOCA/FOTA/GPDA). I feel sick about F1 holding an event in Russia while that country makes war on a neighbor that has never harmed or threatened it. I would like to think that there was some very serious discussion about the appropriateness of this event, but I haven't seen any information about that.
For my part, I absolutely refuse to watch this race from Criminal Russia, and if Russia is on the calendar for 2015, then F1 can go to hell for all I care. Maybe a terror scare from nearby Chechnya will cause the race to be canceled ;)
