Hello all - I guess I am a bit of a Anastasia veteran, I have been on for about a year and half, and I visited a girl Easter of last year (didn't work out). I have been deep into Russia a few times before (not for wife hunting) and I also have friends in Kiev as a home base, so my Ukraine trip was relatively painless, even going to a smaller city such as Mariupol. I even met 3 other Anastasia guys during my travels there just in the airports to and from Mariupol! Anastasia seemed to treat me well enough, for picking up at the airport, setting me up with a very nice apartment, and of course the girl I went to meet was indeed the girl I had planned on meeting. I really liked the fact that she had an actual video, which made me feel a bit more comfortable. We had Easter with her and her family, and I saw her everyday I was there. In the end though, it turned out her friend had talked her into signing up for the agency, and I don't think she ever thought a guy would fly all the way over to see her from USA, and when I actually showed up she was happy, but maybe not really ready to leave her Armenian family and culture behind so fast. Oh well, lesson learned, good friends made - to this day, she still texts me messages for holidays and the like.
A year later, I have talked to a couple more girls, one seemed very interested in me and real (but has recently disappeared from the site), the other I wanted to be real, but I now believe she may be a 'letter writer only', and I decided to just stopped writing.... so did she...hmmmm. I had talked to both of them on the phone numerous times with my own calling card (I speak enough Ruskie to get by), but the conversations always seemed trite and abbreviated. I was about to give it all up, when I found a sweet girl from a small Ukrainian town, that also had a video on Anastasia.
We have since been writing novels to each other lately, and everything is going as great as one could hope.... But she told me in my latest correspondence that (if we meet) she wanted to meet in a big city, like Kiev or Odessa... This is actually perfect for me from a logistics point of view, but I read this whole Anastasia thread the other night, and I swear I read that it is a bad sign if they want to meet away from their home town. Is that true, or am I mistaken? She said that she was worried that if it didn't work out between us in her small town that it would jeopardize her 'reputation' and it could be bad for her. Maybe she is just worried to be embarrassed? She said we could meet her family later, no problem, just not for the first meeting... What are your thoughts on this? Spacibo.
Hi. Are anyone still around here?
I have been using Anastasiaweb for 3 years now. It is quite expensive, but I have found several very impressive women. I do not believe the ones I am corresponding with are fake and they have never been asking for money.
I am probably younger than most of you and that might work to my advantage maybe, but I cannot offer a big house etc.
They seem to show real emotions as well. Disappointed when I do not reply for several weeks and very interested in what I think about children and starting up a family.
But I see so many people around the net calling Anastasia a pure scam. Let us take one video example:
I get really nervous when I see stuff like that considering I have already spent more than $1000 at anastasia without yet meeting any of the women I correspond with.
Some have videos and such and I can hardly believe they are scamming me. I sent flowers for one woman and got the picture and all.
They all also seem eager for me to visit them in Ukraine. I am planning to go there this year or maybe next.
Plz someone, cant you just tell me that Anastasia is not a scam before I spend several thousands of dollars travelling to Ukraine??
Anastasia works on the principle that a 56 year old man will pay to open a letter that has been written to him by a 26 year old beauty.
The girls on that site are mostly drop dead gorgeous and have no problem getting men from their own country. Therefore you have to wonder who writes these letters.
The video link you mentioned here is exactly how it works. It’s a business to make money.
Try normal local (Russian or Ukrainian) dating sites and watch out for scammers there. You’ll figure them out soon enough….easy to spot.
Stick your profile onto a pay per month dating site (not a marriage agency) and start chatting to girls there.
If you can’t speak to her on the phone, receive mail from her private email, or see her on webcam she aint real.
If you’ve been using Anastasia for 3 years now and still haven’t gone to meet someone yet doesn’t that tell you something?
All the sites have good and bad women on them. I've met a scammer on anastasia but I think someone around here (quasimodo ?) met his wife on anastasia (before they were married natch haha).
One thing you should know though that most of the "model" class woman on the site front page and the feature galleries are just that - models, so if your not young handsome and rich (or failing the first two, very rich) then forget about them and dig a bit deeper. A "marriage minded" FSU woman simply doesn't put "sexy" pics of herself up on the internet.
The fellow who made the video noscamplz put up either is not the sharpest pencil in the box or is just exaggerating. He chooses to use a mid range credit price of 6 dollars to project the price of opening his 80+ letters when he has just prior to this pointed out 100 credits could be purchased for $399 but he has opted to spend $480+ for argument sake on them.
And as bassuk said you can find good and bad women everywhere. Actually I do not think it is Anastasia's intent to promote scammer ladies their system just lends itself to opportunity for them.
I don't know what to make of you Noscam....why you have been using anastasia for 3 years shows you don't know what you are doing..maybe you just like to write letters and receive letters and that is enough for you. People like you are what helps make anastasia the money maker it is....everyone wins but you. You need a plan and go visit girls within a few months, only a meeting can tell you
IF girl is sincere and if there is some chemistry. Like bassuk said, there are good and bad women on every site and pay-per-letter is prime for girls/agencies to use men be enticing you to write to them...I am sure you have received hundreds of first-time letters from girls. Most will not ask for anything but write very often($$$)...its not scamming if you choose to open letters/videos, you are getting something for your $$$. They are ALL eager to meet you...that is until you are coming or just never show up....all depends on whether girl REALLY is interested...that is why timely meeting are very important. I still don't understand why you have written for so long...if a girl is really serious, then she will not write for such long time without a meeting...it's your money though.
I think if you send a message to any of the 18-22 year old eye candy you are throwing your money away.
I have had cases of what I am pretty sure is scam messages on AW, id's 1121992, 1122285, 1119384 quite frankly if you are going to spend your credits on these girls use the pictures for some fantasy time and leave it at that. They have scam written all over them, but they are quite hot looking.
I have however been speaking with a very nice lady, 29 with one child, her pics on the site are very nice and I responded to what was probably a form letter. I traded messages on the site with her, I have spoken to her using their phone service (once). She provided me with her postal address in the second real message to me, I had a scam check site not conencted to AW send her a single rose, they checked her ID and verfied she is for real. I have also received pictures from her which are just "normal" pics (no nudity or sexual poses) and she is actually better looking in some of those pics than the "pro" pics used on the site. When we spoke using the phone service she offered her cell number without me asking for it. I've spoke to her about 4 times on her phone since, we have traded text messages and I hope to go see her in October. Is the cell phone service bad in the Ukraine? When we talk to each other we have a hard time hearing each other, it also takes forever to start ringing after I dial the number. Anyone else notice this?
As a bit of a test I offered to pay for her cell phone saying that I knew that it was expensive, she refused to have me pay the bill. She has asked for my email and we now send emails to each other and do not use AW any longer. We only started talking to each other about a month ago so based on some of the horror stories I've read on here I think its pretty good. The real test will be when she removes her profile off AW. I would not expect her to do that until after we meet, I'm planning on spending 10 days with her. She works so I'll have to keep myself busy part of the day sometimes. And to top it off she is from Nikolaev which based on AW must have hordes of amazing women everywhere - I guess I will see. It also seems to have a bad repudation on for scammers, its the only thing that concerns me but at this point until she does something that indicates she is a scammer I'm going with that its for real. I agree with everyone who says if someone asks for money almost for certain (99.9%) that they are a scammer.
dh77. In the past I have had some problems calling Ukraine but the last 4 months the service has been super. It almost made me wonder if previously the ladies were avoiding my calls but this one answers with no problems over 25 days out of 30. A couple days a month there seem to be problems. The sound quality is usually good, I use yahoo messenger phone out to call her cell phone so her sound comes over my computer speakers and I have all kinds of volume control. Sms messages are not that reliable. Sometimes they work great and the next time they just do not go.
As far as the phone bill they have a different system there. They pay for calls they make but incoming calls are at no charge so it does not cost her anything for you to call her. Most do not use a monthly bill like we do but buy a card or put money in a machine to add minutes to their phone.
Land of oz, thanks for the info about sms - I was wondering why she didn't reply and then other times she gets back to me in less than a minute when I sms her, I suspected she didn't get some of my messages. It would be great if there was some way to know for sure if she gets it - what a total pain!! When I call its obvious the quality is not very good, so I do not think its that she does not want to talk to me, in fact we do talk to each other its just very noisy. She does not have internet at home so can't use skype or that would be ideal. When you call do you wait a long time before the first ring?
I know the phones works that way, I said I'd give her money for her phone which she did not want which is great if you ask me, offered to send it to her WU, which she flatly said no to. I do think they pay for outgoing sms however. Perhaps she is with a different provider than your girl thus the quality problems?
What is Nikolaev like, anyone have any first had experience? How many people there speak any english? Any recommendations for renting a flat?
yes with outgoing sms it cost them .67 hrevena or about 15 cents with Kyivstar. I am not sure about UMC which now calls itself mts
Martin posted on another thread and it seems to work that with kyivstar you can send a message on the Internet free of charge at http://www.kyivstar.net/en/sms/ and after you send it click on check message status. If it is successful there are three progressions you see: message accepted and equed, message sent, and message delivered to recipient. If you get the last one then your message should be successful. This may take a period of time so just leave that window open and check every so often until you get message failed or delivered. There is a drop box on this page, if your lady's prefix is in it then she is on kyivstar.
Umc users can be sent an sms at http://www.mts.com.ua/eng/sendsms.php but I have not tried the message status to see if it tracks it the same as Kyivstar. If you do a google search for umc send sms beware because music blares at you as soon as you open their home page. I hate sites like that.
dh77....look at thread by Beijoguy...it has some thoughts about Nikolaev.
Small city with lots of pretty girls walking up and down sovietskaya. I like to eat/drink at an outdoor restaurant...and just watch then all stroll by....... you just know they love it!!!
Thanks for the comments about Nikolaev, I've been sending emails back and forth to her for a while now and we have talked about me coming over but she wants to make sure she has all the days off when I come over, based on your post beemer18 perhaps she is worried if she is at work I will get distracted?
I travel to the UK alot for work and the flight from there to Odessa is dirt cheap so I wanted to just tag meeting her onto one of my business trips. I can find something to do during the day when she is working, not really a problem.
She is definately not a scam, and I did meet her on AW, I can't say for every girl on there but this one is real.
She uses a phone service called life:) which is from a company called Astelit. SMS to north america cost then .50 UAH. There has been no issue at all about money, never asks for a penny.
She has been getting all my messages lately, so not sure what the problem was. Are Ukrainian women competitive with each other in terms of guys? It seems she definately does not want me spending any time alone there. Which I guess is good because she is interested. I've dated girls at home similiar age to her and they try getting your hand in your wallet almost instantly, so this is a nice change (she is 28, I'm 44)
Does anyone know best place to check upon an Anastasia girl? I mean, to search with her ID number in order to see if anyone else has had a strange feeling about the contact with her?
I'm of a different thought on this. Meeting in Kiev is okay. I think it gives both the ability to relax and get to know each other. Without the pressures of the home town. These girls are really competitive in nature and they know how the gossip circles work. As much as it is important to meet the family, her social circle approval is almost as important. My wife told me her best friends approval was as important as her mothers. I owe Lucia alot. She told Larissa to go and not look back. She told me Lucia's opinion of me is what helped her make the decision to leave Ukraine. This is a huge undertaking for these ladies and if they make this decision in haste I would have some concern.
I know some guys are going to comment that meeting in Kiev is nothing more than a shopping trip. Well that's wrong, at least with a serious lady. If you are conned into a shopping trip time to move on. Only you can part with your money. My wife is very proud of her heritage and wanted to show me the history of her country. We didn't do any shopping until our arrival in Mariupol. We spent 5 days sightseeing in Kiev which was very enlightening. It wasn't until my third trip to see her that we did a resort vacation trip to Crimea. You have to balance out your meetings with pleasure and reality. It's great to go have fun, but the reality is you are searching to see if you are compatible with each other.
It all works different for everyone. I did have a long correspondence with my wife before our first meeting. I wanted to meet sooner, but had job issues that wouldn't let me go as soon as I would have liked to. Though it gave us time to speak daily by phone and we learned a lot about each other. When we first met, it seemed like we knew each other for a long time. Nothing is etched in stone here. Just be natural and use common sense and you will find what you are looking for.
Well I am still talking to her every day, we use mail.ru which is great, except for all the russian but oh well, I want to learn it anyway.
She deleted her profile off Anastasia, so that is a good sign!!! She is working two jobs for the next couple months so it looks like meeting in December. She still has not asked for money, she is very reluctant to complain about her situation even though she has to work two jobs.
I did (at my own choosing) send her some credits for her phone, so she can text me, it costs her .50 UAH for every message she had sent me at least 15 of them on her own money so she spent a few dollars of her own money texting to me and I didn't think that was right, besides it was only around $30 to give her 100 UAH in credit on her phone so not like someone is going to get rich off that!!! There is a site you can use to send them the phone credits directly, so no cash involved at their end.
So yes, until I meet her its not for certian but I ask you where is the "scam" here??? I think as much as there are definately some scam people on these services, I had alot more problems using Lavalife and other sites meeting total witches in Canada!!! Plus trying to get a half decent looking girl in Canada is like climbing mount everest. Why are viagra sales so high in North America? Is it that men are impotent or that women just do not know how to turn them on. (Or they are big ugly bow wows - sorry but it is the truth!)
I would add that I think it is pretty easy to tell the scammers, I noticed that many of the girls seem to send you messages where they clearly did not read what you have sent them. I think that is the best way to sift through the "scam" adds. Honestly I think I had extreme luck using Anasatia I was only on it for 3 days when she first sent me a message. I am also lucky that she can speak and write english at about 8-9 out of 10, which is pretty good.
I was only a member on their service for one month, and the total cost of messages was about $250 plus the one phone call to her which was through their service which cost me about $120 dollars for a total cost of about $370. So they are very expensive, if I had known about fiance.com I would of used it but she was not on here so perhaps it was meant to be? We shall see.
I do think they should change that the first letter from the girl should be free, that way if the "introduction service" they provide adds any value they will make money on the follow up letters. I asked Marina if she did the initial letter to me and she said she did, which is cool to know. So there was at least one girl looking at ads and choosing who she sends messages to.
I would get about 25 letters every day from very hot looking women, I am sure 99% of them were form letters from an agency. But I did get a real letter from someone I would not dream of having a chance with in Canada so I'm a happy customer, but I think this site is a better value for sure.
dh77....don't worry so much about the scam, many girls just want to be taken care of, nice dinners and someone to visit them. To me that is a not a scam. More than likely that will be what happens to you. It is still possible you and girl will hit it off, so go with it if that is what you want. You'll never konow for sure until you meet...words only go so far.
Does girl speak english? Does she text in english?
I have lived here for the last 6 months. 1.5 months in Ukraine (with KyivStar simcard) and the rest in Russia (with Beeline simcard).
My family and friends have never had a problem receiving a SMS from me in Russia, and I have not had any problems receiving SMSs from them in Australia.
In Ukraine, it was the same story. Except for 1 friend with Optus, who did not receive anything I sent, and when he tried to send something to me, would say "Failed".
So I think it is bull, about SMS not being received. It seems to always work, or will never work .... not occassionally.
