Even my "famous" Ukrainian ex knows it has been my long-term goal to semi-retire to become a self-employed hotelier in a foreign land and long-term is for the past 15 or 20 years. Of course I could have tried developing a business in Ukraine or elsewhere in FSU whilst freezing my balls off each and every winter perhaps in a shitehole of a soviet industrial city ... But then again I could have chosen a tropical island in the Pacific Ocean where the government of the country are pumping millions in to developing the island for tourism whilst I just sit pretty for a few years whilst the value of my investment multiplies before I sell up and move on ...
