Girlfriend and I met with a plumber last Sunday, had an amicable chat, showed him the, some three weeks, work that needed to be completed and we agreed that he commence on Monday at a daily rate of PHP500.00. By the time we got to the land on Monday one or more of the other workmen had been stirring the shit, that the plumber had travelling expenses, and had persuaded the plumber to ask for more money, PHP700.00 per day, in the belief that I would kick his ass from the land and give the plumbing work to the other, shit stirrer, at his exaggerated monetary demands. Well the plumber, aware of what was going on, agreed to do it for a fixed contract price of approximately half what the shit stirrer had demanded for doing the work. :) Meanwhile Aussie neighbour's wife fired all her workmen last week and one of them, in particular, has been grovelling to me/us for a job. We haven't yet appointed a tiler and, on a daily rate, a realistic labour cost for tiling the accommodation building is between PHP15,000 and PHP20,000 although, on a daily rate, they might drag their heels somewhat to increase money in pocket. Well one of the idiots (a mason) that works for me quoted a fixed contract price of PHP110,000.00 but I am not prepared to offer any more, than is necessary, fixed contracts. Well this fired worker from next door can do tiling, we offered him the job for PHP400.00 (negotiable) per day but he only offered a fixed contract price of PHP50,000.00, I replied that I am not contracting out the tiling to which he replied with a revised contract price of PHP40,000.00 ... I replied "What part of this do you not understand ... I AM NOT CONTRACTING OUT THE TILING?". He then suggested that we have men (masons) already on site that can do the tiling and he doesn't want to put them out of work, via girlfriend I'm explaining that we haven't appointed any individual(s) for tiling at present thus there is no putting out of work to be done. We last saw him walking off down the road, head and shoulders down, probably wondering how he is going to support his wife and kids. It's all their own little mafia, they think if they deter others, no doubt with financial incentives to go away, then I'll be forced to accept this little short assed idiot's quote of PHP110,000.00 ... Rag'n'Bull Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 7/10/2012 6:00:51 AM   A tad busy to fart around with "my dick is bigger than your dick" pissing contests on an internet forum, yesterday we shipped several hundred roofing nipa's across the island then up at 0345 this morning for the ferry to the mainland, now in the Surigao City hotel with the van full (on weight) with 196 litres of paint (besides the 160 litres of paint we bought here last time two weeks ago), 200 kilos of tile adhesive, 60 kilos of nails, 9 roofing (plainsin) metals, 264 metres of wood mouldings/cornices, some ball valves, electrical cable, circuit breakers, sandpaper, buckets and electrical tape, we've done some grocery shopping and we've even picked up a DVD player that we had bought via the web. It's now 1800, the hotel cafe/bar is just opening so guess where I'm heading whilst girlfriend has nipped out to do some clothes shopping. Hopefully back to the island tomorrow (subject to space on the ferry for the van) then back to shipping nipa's across the island for the remainder of the week.
