Are you very familiar with the paperwork to get married in Moldova? My question is regarding the time frame that the paper work is valid for. From the US Embassy Chisinau web site:
"...An easier way to do this is with two certificates, which you can obtain from the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy in Moldova. These two certificates have been accepted at the Office of the Civil Condition as satisfactory proof...and wait one month and one day before getting married...However, in practice, this waiting period is often waived, and Moldovan officials will sometimes not require U.S. citizens to wait, taking into consideration potential visa problems and the need for U.S. citizens to return home."
We just talked about this last night. I will be visiting her again this fall and we would love to marry then, and so would her parents. However, I can only stay for 10 days this time (arrive Sun - depart Tues). I don't think it is realistic for us to get all this done AND get married before I go, even assuming they waive the 30 day period.
I know I have to be there to get certificates from Counselor. I wonder though, can she process all the other papers while I am in USA? If so, I can come back in 2-3 months and we marry then. Or, if I must be there for the whole paper trial, how long are the papers valid for?
Hi jet, it was the same in the uk, but now they open a full consulate and embassy in Chisinau in July, so can apply for either visa in Chisinau or Bucharest
Hi Musicman, the british embassy advised me that I need a document from my local police, to say I have no criminal record, to be verified by the foreign office in London, and also a certificate of non impediment issued in my local district but saying that I was going to get married in Chisinau, you then have to have a pre nuptial medical in Moldova(seems compulsory in most European countries(England excepted) You must then submit all these papers and wait 21 days...I do not think you have to remain in the country at this time....I am back in Moldova October 14-24th, hoping to bring my girl back on a fiance visa...I have pestered, harrassed and shouted at the British embassy and they have promised to issue the visa within 7 days if successful, we have decided to marry in England..when are you out there?
I was not looking for a former Russian lady at all. I never even thought about it. (no offense to those on the quest) I met her in a chat room, of all places. She was talking to another girl about music that I liked, so I thought I would just get to know a beautiful lady in some part of the world I had never even heard of. (Ok...I had heard of it as Moldavia, but I would have flunked a geography pop quiz. Trust me!)
I had know Idea what the next year would bring. She is TOO DAMN FAR AWAY, but she is everything I have ever wanted in a sweet wife..in a best friend. She is a very special young lady to me. So I have no choice but to go through what many of you have already done...jump through the hoops and get her HOME:) It is so hard to only see her every few months, but phone calls and web cams help.
I never read about the pre nuptial medical exam on the US Consular web site. Thanks for the heads up. I will look into that more. I guess what I really want to know is how long is all the papers valid for...the exam, the marriage docs? If I proecess them and then go back in 2 1/2 or 3 months, will we still be able to get married using them? That is the $64,000 question. I just emailed the US Conular Office in Moldova. Hopefully I will get a fast response.
I will be flying in on Oct 14 & leave Oct 26. I wish you the best with your wife to-be. It will be 8-10 months before I will be able to have mine with me on a K-3 Visa.
hi Musicman, I am flying in on the 14th of October as well, if you are flying with Malev hungarian then we may be on the same plane, I don't know how long they are valid for....British embassy always answer my questions next day
Well Musicman, maybe if your girl is is working or you are at a loose end, we can meet up for a beer, can you not bring her to the US on a fiance visa?
