The fight then is with the Russian Army or the Russian government not little babies at a school. These people are slimy cowards and did nothing to help their countrymen. They have put all Chechnyan peoples in a bad light and hurt their cause for independence, no matter how deserving they truly are. I know that the media over there does not reflect the happenings. 4. History is full of religious fanatics (Crusades, El-Kaide are just two examples). The world is experiencing these crimes because either "sides" think that the other side is not caring about their innocent children. If we will be caring the both the innocent children in 9/11, Beslan, Iraq and Chechnia who got kiiled consciosly and react in the same way, then the mankind will go further. But if you violate the laws of war, then its something inhuman. Bombing a military naval base is not fanaticism, but bombing civilian towns with atomic bombs to force a nation surrender is .... No real soldier wants war, but will fight to defend his nation. I think there is a definate difference between the terrorist movement and a unified war. Also civilians were killed at Pearl Harbor but there is always collateral victims in war. The difference with the terrorist is the attack the civilian populace first to force a government into action. The bombings at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which I will defend Trumans actions were to force the population to act against its imperial government. Along with saving countless American and Allied lives. The wanton act that happened in Chechnya is pure cowardice. So comparing terrorists to responses in a open declaration of war is not rational. As to Japan they declared war on us, and they weren't the model for the Geneva convention. As few are that are left around ask some of the WWII vets that served in the pacific and let them tell you about the death Marches. I'm a member of the VFW here in Indiana and we are losing a precious resource in our vets from the pacific war. It really annoys the hell out of me when someone makes an issue about bombing civilian towns. First we did not declare war on Japan and second both towns Hiroshima and Nagasaki had military targets in it. It is sad that innocent people died along the way but that is war. If you don't believe they had targets in them, Mitsubishi had major manufacturing centers there, they didn't just make cars in the 1940's. Along with NSK and some major bearing manufacturers. So there is a distinct difference between terrorism and Declared war. There is a difference between a terrorist and Freedom fighter. Freedom fighters don't use innocent women and children as pawns in their fight for freedom. General Sherman said it best in his memoirs from the Civil War, you wage war against the populace so they think hard about raising arms against any one nation again. Sure, Mitsubishi was manufacturing war birds, why did the US army not target just the manufacturing sites with conventional bombs? It is very simple and the simple truth is still vaild for US government today in Iraq: to minimize the losses. American lives are much more important than the other lives, even innocent and civil. Do you think that you have the right to bomb the civilians just beacuse their government declared war on you first? I absolutely aggree with you about the fact that the terrorist acts in Chechnia are cowardice. Why the hell are the Israeli jets taking off with nuclear weapons in dangerous situations? US has the right to develop nuclear and chemical weapons, also Israel, so why not N. Korea and Iran?
