I later found out one was an escort and listed on other sites. Several have said that they do not believe the letters after many serious sincere letters they just say come visit and I will believe you. They tell me how much money it cost to be beautiful and one even told me that beauty came before family and I should look to older women if I do not have money to keep her beautiful (both of us in our 30's..lol). By far the women of latvia seem more like the higher maintenance type. To be fair I have met 2 or 3 very sincere types that seem oblivious to this and though they do say they have a higher standard of living they feel that love and family are more important than money or country...so as usual it is hard to judge but I must agree that there is a higher % there that have told me strait up that to be with them will be expensive and letters mean squat come and visit them now. The one that is an escort actually still writes me all the time trying to give me advice. She has suggested that I look in the Ukraine if I am serious for a bride..but warns it will cost me much more there? My findings say that maybe Riga is the more expensive trip but I can not say from experience. In fact, except for the fact that Russian is A common language to both countries they seem almost entirely dissimilar. Latvia's GNP (per capita) was $3,708 in 2003. That seems meager (and it is) but most of the wealth is centralized in Riga, so in that area you will find the most affluence. Moldova's GNP (per capita) was only $398 in 2003. Again you will find the incomes in the capital city to be a bit higher but that is REALLY a low GNP. (By comparison the US GNP (per capita) during 2003 was $36,562). But the biggest diffrence is HOPE. One Latvia woman I dated for a week worked as a receptionist/security monitor and earned about 5 Lats per day ($10). But she could see the country growing. Rather than to decry what she didn't have she talked about what she did have compared to past years. In a decade or so that country will be undiscernable from any other European country. In Moldova the poverty may actually be more crippling then the above figures suggest. Early on I think I made a thread that I had recieved two letters from different girls with the same paragraph very warm and loving....I confronted them and they said they were friends but they of course both meant every word....fishy at best but one seems very warm still while the other is more cold. I have always got detailed answers but many loose their patience and want hard dates you are comming. One warned me that I should bring my money and not worry so much about a plan and having women to visit. I get the feeling that the escort business is alive and well there. I think you can tell the ones showing the most skin seem to be that type children or not! My fiance was relatively wealthy in her country, but due to the expense of going out, she would stay in at night, invite friends over or do knitting or needlework, hence she is very intelligent and no push over, but gets pleasure from her house and family and traditional pastimes. I know for the UK, Riga is now the place everyone goes for their stag night, very lively and quite affluent.
