Reading the sentence above I also feel this is very much like the english I read in letters from Russian women I have written... My english is far from perfect, I am not an englishman/American.. But people like me and others that have english as a second language or is EFL speakers (english as foreign language) have different ways to write because of the nature our motherlanguage is built up, and reading your stuff Loopy, I think you are from the east!!! There are 16 CDs in the set - and so far I have actually gotten around to listening to No. 5. Of course these 16 CDs are not REALLY Comprehensive because after I finish them I am supposed to buy Really-Comprehensive Russian II and Really-Extremely-No-Kidding-Around-This-Time-Comprehensive Russian III. Each of which is also about $300 but discounted to some degree on ebay. I understand that these CDs are SUPPOSED to be the best as far as actually learning to speak Russian but there is very scant written material included. With Comprehensive Russian I, for instance, there is a tiny pamphlet that contains little more than the Russian (Cyrillic) alphabet. jetmba. She has supposedly lost her memory and doesn't know who she is. She cannot be contacted of course, because "It would upset her." A "friend" he made in Ukraine who he actually met as his translator seems to be in on it. My lady also knew her and was aware of several schemes she was involved in or suggested. This woman, his "trusted friend" is now acting as the go-between, working with my friend, her sister and the supposed amnesia victim, that my friend professes his love for and continues to send money he does not have for her treatment and the translatos services.r He has been advised by his US based attorney - who deals exclusively with FSU cases - that he is being scammed. He doesn't want to believe it. I have advised him that I believe he is being scammed. He doesn't want to believe it. Lastest news - is that this poor soul, his fiance, has been sent to Moscow to see a specialist. Of course this specialist requires extra money as does the travel cost. Who do you suppose is kicking in? It seems to me that he cannot justify leaving her (if that makes any sense) in her time of need. He seems to have no concept that while there IS need on her part (Ukraine is a very poor country) she has fewer qualms about his well-being. I met the girl in question when we were in Ukraine. To me the most obvious thing about her was that she was so incredibly quiet. He was head over heals for her on almost first meeting and began the application process for a fiance visa petition before even returning to the States. The first obvious sign that something was wrong was when his attorney found out that she had actually been married twice before and she claimed to have only been married once. It seems that the second time was only to acquire an apartment in Ukraine. That it somehow slipped her mind was one red flag. But that she had actually married to acquire an apartment was an even bigger red flag. I would have steered well away from her at that point. The rest of the story is written earlier in this thread. If you are intersted you can read it yourself. But its amazing what a guy will fall for and what some women (from any country) will pull.
