He tries to divert some bride seekers to South Africa by condemning the Russian Bride business. Why invite competition if SA women are so great? Nigerian and Ghanian scammers have studied the techniques of Russian scammers and are great copycats. They are a nuisance on SA dating sites. They post fake profiles of sexy white South African girls who create the impression to foreigners that they are keen to leave SA. Some scams are direct copycat acts but with an added twist: Identity theft is almost always part of this scenario, because no-one is going to send money to a girl with a Nigerian sounding name. They need the stolen indentities to pick up money and pose as people of mixed race at the pick-up point in order to justify the English or Afrikaans sounding names. There are other, more innovative schemes as well. Often the pictures used in the fake profiles are stolen from, believe it or not, Russian Bride sites. So if you see a profile of a South African girl with an Eastern European look, you know what you are dealing with. That name does not come from a telephone number Gert, that is an article in the Nigerian Law especially introduced to have a handle on those scamming. This law was introduced after international pressure was put on Nigeria, and in all we're talking quite a few years here. You're wrong, this type of crime is a lot older. Nigerians are not known for being criminal but for having invented crime, they don't need to copy the lame tactics adhered to by FSU scammers. Ever heard of such a RW-scammer crumbling a bank? Me neither, but 419-scammers caused two South American banks to go bank fairly recently. Clever white-collar criminals playing for higher stakes than your couple of hundred bucks. Ghaneans are even more stupid than the russian amateurs, and better don't even compare them with the Nigerian professionals. I am fully familiar with 419 scams and the penal code number. Apart from this rather well known scam (I think just about everybody is familiar with it by now), Nigerian syndicates are involved in various crime schemes mainly centered around identity theft. The bigger syndicates sell stolen identities they are not interested in to smaller groups who use it for dating fraud and to pick up money. Most common are airfare/visa scams but opportunity often spawns higher value crime such as housebreaking and theft. I am not going to detail those because of its limited relevance to this forum. DBN55 has a tendency to run down the Russian Bride business on other forums and to advertise the dating site datingbuzz.com. That site contains a lot of the fake profiles I referred to. That is the cause of my scepticism. PS: Dodging these criminals is part of my life because I have a security consultancy business and I am often a frustration to them. Having lived in the Ukraine for about 5 months in 2004 I can confirm many of the things dbn55 writes here. His blanket statements is what hurts his validity. Many agencies (Notice I didn't say ALL)do use the "Free photo portfolio" trick to get the young beautiful girls on their website. Most of the girls know their photos and contact information will be sold and they may recieve letters from foreign men. The girl is real, the contact information is real, but the girls intentions are not. Usually they have no desire whatsoever in meeting or dating a foreigner. dbn55 also mentions the professional dating kick back. This also happens in many of the agencies. Especially in the big cities such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Kiev. dbn55 also states the beautiful girls are scarce in the FSU. Wrong! I have never seen such a concentration of beautiful women in my life! But!!! He is right about the beautiful ones being well taken care of by the rich or well to do men of the new FSU. Such a girl is called "Invested" and she is well taken care of indeed. dbn55 is right. It is very difficult for us foreigners to compete with these men. Even if we ourselves are rich they will have the language and culture advantage over us. He is also correct in stating that many of the girls just go back to their boyfriends after you leave. Actually they aren't even considered boyfriends. They are either their investor or they are their lover. And yes your sweetheart fiance will continue to be with her lover while waiting for her visa. Sorry guys but that is the cold hard truth. I seen it happen many times. Again this doesn't apply to all women but it does apply to many of them. Many of you have found a wonderful girl your first try. Many of you have never been scammed. Consider yourselves smart but also lucky. The bottom line is that the majority of this Marriage Agency business is corrupt. I still believe in it and will continue to use it but I also keep in mind the dark side of this business. Just as in Rape cases we only hear from a very few who come forward with charges. Most are never reported. The same applies in the marriage agency business. Many of us have been scammed, cheated, used, and disappointed, but dont come forward with our story because we are ashamed. dbn55 it would seem has been a victim. You can debate and disagree with his story but please dont attack him for it. I apologise. While it seems like he advertises SA girls and the datingbuzz site, he has also posted a few scammers from datingbuzz. Can you be more forthcoming with details of your experiences Mr DBN55? No follow ups from you so far? I am prepared to take you on and even refer you to the organizer of the social club I referred to before. I know there is a second group in my city too, but I do not have contact with them. His posts on other forums have been deleted. It is true that white Northern European women are very beautiful. I speak of personal experience. Skandinavian countries, the Netherlands, and Central Europe sport some of the most beautiful women on earth and the good old USA does so as well. The problem in America is that few women are pretty and well-shaped and not fucked in the head and the ones who satisfy these conditions are taken, so there aren't many prospects, this is talk that is totally repetitive. Everyone's talking from our own experiences and there are people who are less lucky than others and also people who give up their pursuits more easily than others. It is true that there are more beautiful women on the streets in FSU than on the web. It is also true that beautiful, family minded women are scarce and that is the challenge to find one of those few and make her yours. I think my former Kiev girl, Elena was such a non-serious free photo portfolio add for bride.ru I think Deanis has clearly mapped out for me the type of women she was and I could not categorise her as a true scammer but a scammer in that her intentions did not appear to be serious with me and that she was happy to get what she could from me and there was never going to be any committment. I think this girl "Elena" may have been one of the invested girls deanis talks about. Deanis you should search "gt6354" on google and see for yourself having been in the Ukraine and knowing how things operate in the Ukraine. I was trying to put the finger on, what this girl really was about..I had the gut feeling she was not serious and it was all empty words and lies that come from her. Now having read this thread, things are becoming more clear to me. Elena may not have been a scammer in the what is regarded as the meaning of the word but a non-serious, not really wanting to date foreigners except for the financial kickbacks that would come from it so really all she id was lead me on but is that not a lie and scam too. I think my experience was..the girl was definitely real..the contact details were definitley real..but her intentions to marry a foreign guy were not real. Thanks deanis for the info..I am able to categorise this girl now..she never directly asked for money but hinted it and her intnetions were not real. The type of gilr Deanis talks about is the one that will pull the big scam on the personal visit..get her foreign man to buy her many things and then she will dump him. All should be very concerned about he facts Deanis raises..we need guys like this in this forum who have lived inside the FSU for a considerable time recently nd not guys like TOAD who talk dribble and all they can do is attack othert members here because theyve got nothing better to do or nothing meaningful to contribute here. But there is a rule at least in my agency that all the photos we make are our intellectual property and will not be given to the girl. This works perfectly. About that guys with thick pockets... Well... I met this sometimes but here it is almost not present. it depends on the city. I am sure that in Moscow, St.Petersburg, Kiev such practice is more than widely spread. Those cities are for sure more rich than many European or US metropolitans so the consentration of big-buck-men and women wearing a price-tag on their neck is more than great. If you stand apart from the capitals you will see absolutely other picture. I am sometimes surprised myself: you see very beautiful girls in the streets and can never believe that they can be lonely but then she comes to my agency and you hear her story sometimes rather pitifull and you feel shame for this country and for its men who made it so that she decided to look for a man abroad. When I get older I will definitely use my philology education for writing a book on the cultural phenomenon of 90th 2000th called "A Russian Bride". They lead us on to get us to buy them dinners, gifts, drinks for their frends and presents for their kids born to another man and all the while they dangle the "you may get laid...or not" carrot stick in front of our horny eyes. The more we follow the stick like an idiot, the stronger their resistance to let us into their panties. The only solution is to let them know that we're not interested in chasing 'her' particular carrot stick, because there are other more attractive and far more accesible, healthier, straighter, fresher and tastier carrot sticks out there. Haven't we all been in this situations with western women enough times already? Are we so fucking naive that we expect some women from other countries not to play these very same games early in our interaction with them, specially when distance and non-personal contact are such huge factors? That because I have not met her face to face she could be up to something. I appreciate the reality check I really do but I am not new to this and have pulled the plug on several scammers already. In fact those little beauties led me here. If it was not for Irina from Kazan I would not have found Fiancee.com, this forum and more importantly Marina. We have been writing and calling now for close to 3 months. It is why I don't frequent this forum that much anymore. I'm too busy writing to the real thing and not dscussing it. If you knew the nature of the emails and calls I think you would understand. We have talked about everything from Arthur Miller to Stonehenge. From democracy to previous relationships. It actually works. There is a lot of joking and she has actively tried to save me money not spend it for me. She sends me things at her own expense and is delighted with anything I send her even some junky jewelry. her little girl is the same. She has helped with advice about the planes and is trying to find me an apartment now after I politely refused to stay with her in her own place. She is not short of money by Russian standards and is not exactly thrilled about the prospect of coming to America. I have not received one single canned email right from the start. I wish I could say that I had not sent one to her but I did. Obviously nobody knows if everything is kosher until the actually meeting takes place but both myself and she feel confidant about this. When I return in March I will write a trip report about what happens even if it is sad but I don't think it will be. I have mentioned this before in the past but I will repeat. These scammers and time wasters seem to fall into the early to middle twenties group. Not all obviously, but most. This is not strictly true but I do think that if a man is 50 and he is trying to find a woman of 20 or 22 he is asking for it. They know the game just as Toad says. Men tend to think with the wrong head and because of the great publicity job the marriage agencies do, believe that it is a great big cookie jar there. In a sense it does seem to be, but one has to keep a sense of proportion about these things. I am 12 years older than Marina, right in my target age group of 10 to 15 years younger. I also did not discount children, to me they are a bonus. Consequently I have found it very easy to find suitable women. I am merely trying to be realistic. There is much more I can say about this to strengthen my argument but I don't want to reveal too much personal information. Suffice to say that I think I am going to end up joining Tradman, Jetmba and Southerman before this year is out and it is a little hard to believe. I will make sure to post my experiences. I am going to Donetsk and have A layover in and out, both in Kiev for one day each. I find it hard to believe everyone or mostly everyone is corrupt.... Remember also.. if your that worried about your girl , there are agencies that investigate fiances... they will check to see if they have A boyfriend or anything that might be strange going on.... Cost around $500.00 from what I ve read to have them check everything including theyre private e-mails. How they do it I dunno I never used em I just know they have them.... 500.00 might save you money if your worried about it. Personally Im just going to go and have fun and meet A nice girl I think is attractive and interesting.. its A date..
