I Fed Exed my passport yesterday, inluding a photo and printed copy of my online flight confirmation.
Today I already received a letter from Russia-Visa.com acknowledging receipt of my passport.
They will present my papers to the embassy Feb 3, 2005 and they expect to have it all aproved by Feb 11, 2005.
I also paid to have it Fed Ex back to me. Only $10 on top of the normal fee.
Total cost $200 and in plenty of time to show it off at my next pre-departure party...:)
I do not like last minute doc processing.
If you can get the passport earlier, I'd do it.
Oh really? Hmm... I suppose I should tell you this.
Once after take-off the guy next to me asked if I knew what the statistics were of having a bomb in the plane. I didn't have the foggiest and told him so. He lectured me about 1 in some 60.000 flights or something, but - but he said, the chance of having two aboard were a lot less, 1 in over a million, and that was why he always carried one.
You know, this really gave me the creeps, I became hellishly nervous to be honest, for I was blisfully unaware of the figures for three.
At least you get to go to Rasputin's house. I am putting that on my list of to do's. I didn't even know Rasputin was in Eburg, he never said anything to me. There is so much to learn about this place. I want to see the Romanov's grave/church/thing. Rasputin's house sounds really cool. Also Russian sushi! And what is this movie Siberian barber? I get the ballet and crossing ice to visit an island and a barbecue in the cold. I got screwed! Least way I hope so!
It will be fun Toad.
I still don't know where I am staying. An apartment or a hotel. Anyway it will be nice to get together and the four of us have dinner on that Saturday night. I wonder where these women will choose? I know there is an Irish pub there that Olga recommended. Then Marina said which one? There are about six! I'm lost. I don't care though because it is going to be a great time no matter where we go.
Izi,
We're planning to come back to E-burg Friday 11 by train so we have two full days to play in the city, do some shopping, etc.
I'll let you know where we'r estaying as soon as i get a comfirmation of the reservation I requested.
We're seeing toad in rare form. Actually asking for advice and TAKING it. Savor the moment fellow forum members. It probably won't be long before toad is back to his old self...
Russia-visa.com is showing to be a class act service.
They send me an e-mail whenever there is an update on my visa process.
Today I read the Russian Embassy has accepted my paperwork and gave an expected approval date of Feb 11.
I'd reccomend them to anyone doing this for the first time.
You want to be quite close to Nevsky Prospect in SPB.
I just have to presume you're going to see someone specific, and if correct let her advise you. This will get both of you involved, and also she will appreciate the trust & responsibility you put in her.
This site itself - ask Olga/Oleg - can also mediate with appartments. You'll pay a bit more but theirs are good, your choice.
"Booking" may take on a new meaning for you there (if she's arranging it), they will probably only do when you hand over the cash (= notes, note!), so don't expect elaborate confirmations in advance. If she tells you it's OK believe her.
Web-searching might also help you find apartments, try.
