Izi,
Since you'll arrive in Frankfurt much earlier than me, I'll gladly pay for the flowers for both our ladies if you buy them before hand...I suspect supply may dwindle whenever there are scheduled flights to FSU.
Or...
to offset the astronomically overinflated prices and low quality of airport kept flowers, I was even thinking of having a local florist meet me at the gate or Lufthansa's ticket desk with the freshest flowers possible.
TD,
Thank you for confusing the crap out of me, mate...:)
She is NOT getting a computer...for now at least.
Toad wants to bring his woman a laptop.
I've suggested him to buy a HP (basically a re-branded Compaq, like Durex the best there is) with P4, R/W CD, at least 512M Ram, bluetooth, possibly with a memory-devices slot, of course a modem which goes hand in hand with a networking capability. Win-XP loaded, nothing else, and if the battery of his choosen model slides/clicks out he better bring a second unit.
Look with us below and give your advice to him??
Toad,
OK, ok, ok, had a look for you.
look on:

then goto (my pick, suit yourself - browse):

The R3000T or the X6000 have the P4 processor (what you want - eats a bit more power but stuff that), mainly their displays differ (price also of course).
Both will be updated free of charge to a R/W CD (Read & Write CD's).
Hotspots are probably not what she's used to so leave that Lan, however the 3000 seems to combine it with bluetooth (a small radio-linking capacity to a plethora of accessories, cellphones, printers, anything!).
Both their graphics cards are good one's (this is HP after all).
Goto (the full spec-sheet of the 3000):

Here you'll see that XP (as I've mentioned WITH SP2 (= a major update!))
is there, no need for Professional (really).
Memory-wise choose 512 (bigger = overkill for her unless she's using any CAD or complex programmes), get yourself advised on what to choose regarding Networking (you want a moden AND bluetooth, don't NEED more but probably have to settle for it), and of the rest the first/lowest spec (yeah, even the processor) is more than enough (also somewhere is a Celeron-model. With this bastid the highest options will be beaten by the lowest specced P4).
Last but not least the battery - read yourself :)
I bet you that the charger which comes with it is an auto-switcher i.e. accepts worldwide voltages - check/ask! In Russia cut off the moulded plug and replace with her standard one, and off you go.
Confusing my ... ;-)
The above would be a nice machine, and (compared to what I'd pay for it here) dirt-cheap. Dunno about you, your turn now. Jeez Toad, you just pick up the phone, make a long free call to someone knowing all, order, pay online and the next day you've got it delivered. I'll save you the analogue rigmarole involved for such a purchase here, you don't want to know.
Oh yeah, that bluetooth mouse you can find yourself, or ask your friendly dealer. May I suggest the make OMIZ? Small, cute & sexy - which should remind you of somebody I'm sure.
OK, Omiz has not yet such a mouse, to be released this quarter. Pity, their stuff is really cute, especially their mice.
However,
http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Reviews/B T500/
http://www.thermaltake.com/keyboardMouse/mouse/btmouse.htm
should get you going.
This thing comes with a bluetooth-USB adapter (that small plug) which does away with the necessity to have the bluetooth-facility built-in the pc (but then it only will drive the mouse).
No cables Toad, you hate that thing too.
No, dunno what happened above - a certain string of characters will cause a bold font.
Now, Oleg, I just have to find the string to induce RED characters.... :))
Toad - while in Russia get yourself a pair of those poity toed shoes that you will find all well dressed men wear. It is a style you will not find in the US. My size 46 wide was the biggest I saw in the market. I have no idea what size a Tall Toads flippers would be - or how you will squeeze them into a point.
My girl suggested I wear them in the US and start a trend.
Kind of like what my mom said when I was ten years old - and she bought me trendy pants - if we had happened to live in Africa. Unfortuantely we lived in Wisconsin.
Keep the shoes handy. They are considered VERY stylish over there. And I presume that you will eventually go BACK for some reason or another.
(Its a lot more likely than me, at ten, going to Africa.)
Ah.
I see.
So now I wear silly pants AND pointy shoes eh?
Shorts & slippers Jet, and those pointy shoes - also for women - look ludicrous, sorry to wedge in here.
I got quite a bit of attention due to the clothing (unintentionally) I was wearing, not the shoes (Hitec's). My safari-type jacket even was reason to drink too much on invite by two guys accompanied by their mistresses, because one of them also wore one and thought he was unique. Hic!!
No Toad, baggy summer-pants with zips & pockets, too large shirts not tucked-in, and underneath wear any layers to keep you warm. Sportshoes/boots (Cat's, Hitec's etc) will do fine, just make sure they're new.
Oh, don't forget the willy-warmer :))
get her to buy her own tickets on the day (your money of coarse) If you buy them you will pay up to 6 times as much. Pre-planning can be good, but if done by you it will definently be more expencive
yes, ID...it's already arranged. She'll get the tickets in advance.
If she cannot get all five of them, then she'll buy them when I'm there.
We already discussed the difference between 'local and foreign' prices.
Last night I asked her about the fashionable pointy shoes or other later trends in Russia. She said plainly that fashion does not impress her.
What can I say, music to my ears...
When it comes to fashion, the only interest I have ever shown is watching the annual Victoria Secret show...:)...Damn, those women have legs!!
Thunder - I wasn't even thinking of you when I mentioned the pointy shoes and funny pants. For a brief time I forgot all abou the fact that you come from the Dark Continent.
You may wear all the pretty jewely you want to cross the borders or even beyond - but I don't necessarily think that you wear pointy shoes or funny pants - or even that your mom dreses you that way.
