I was very surprized myself so i am not disagreeing with you. But I have been offered and apartment for 85USD per night and it was not centre but not far from it so I was told. I knew eventually I would have to take my five-year-old son and I did not relish taking him on a 20 hour jaunt to Siberia to a town that may or may not be able to handle a medical emergency of a young one. Ukraine offered enough westernization to make it relatively safe almost anywhere in the country, but not so western as to make me feel like I never left home. Russia does offer Moscow, St Petes and a few others, but I didn't want a big city girl, if she wasn't going to be living in the big city here. It worked for me, but may not necessarily work for you. I would have spent approx 5knz on my 1st lady (not $1 before I met her) on Visa - Passports medicals - travel -n English lessons - communications - Computer etc So that was dead ended up been dead money. So that figure is not ALL directly on FSU women. I had a total of 2 months looking around parts of Ukraine and Russia as well. I don't regret $1 of it. Remember too, travelling to FSU from New Zealand is a lot more costly than America !! I am about to go again for 2 months and this trip will probably be less than 10KNZ for the entire trip.
