Some sort of reverse extrapolation is my best guess, 'cause no, I dunno either. After my move I've learnt to value what is present, whether it being infrastucture, facilities, commodities or the way the country does things. This rather than noticing what's absent compared to what I know exists, or worse, direct comparison, because it either is unfair or one cannot. Sure I did in the beginning, still do occasionally, but then also one has to compare locally. I have travelled extensively here, for extended periods, and this also has proven to me that one can do an astonishing lot worse. Oh, before you get the wrong idea, I'm absolutely dead-happy here, life is very good to me here. So, when 'she' will move 'up', I just suppose that initially one of her impressions must be the one of wealth, luxuries abound. That list of your normalities indeed will be luxuries for her, and I bet it will get taking used to. Spending money also will have to be learnt, and you better already prepare for her making downright wrong purchases, for 'expensive' and 'cheap' simply has to be learned. However, I suppose these novelties wear off, and then for some time a period of having found a relative settlement follows. It is however the period after this I'm curious about, and so far have been unable to find any comments on it. Sure, it, to a very large degree, will depend on her character, but her environment, not perfectly familiar to her still, must influence her. Her values, her desires, her wishes, these simply must mutate due to her exposure to friends, family, media, neighbours, the workplace, basically everything. Add the absence of the social circle she was used to, I'm sure by default a wealth of info in such a close-knit community where she comes from, with the near-direct consequence that her decisions will become more autonomous, or will have to be. Right now I have her too busy with selecting the interior for our house that I am remodeling, I think if I keep her busy the damage on the wallet won't be so bad.
