The beautiful thing about this forum is that these different scenarios get played out real time before everyone. Including disasters like mine. It is a very good thing. Each time there is a success everyone is encouraged, each time there is a failure everybody learns. The margin for error shortens and the chance of success increases. Toad and Jet's ladies with their age difference is not our business. They have chosen to invite us into their private little world. Criticism should be saved for reality shows on TV, there it does not matter about the participants feelings. They went for it so tough luck. Here we share experiences. It is not my business to pass superior judgement on Toad's or Jet's decisions or methods. It is my job if I have any common sense at all to watch and hopefully learn something by their experience. Good or bad. I exposed my failure for all the world to see in March April with my thread "Down But Not Out". I wanted to let others learn from my mistake. As soon as you do this weird things start to happen. I was called a coward and Marina was called a whore. Both completely unfair. In each case it showed a complete lack of understanding or why what was happening was happening. Toad and Jet have basically done the same thing and the same thing is happening although much better put and with some real thought behind it. Also nowhere near as insultingly. When I find someone new I will also share blow by blow and I will also tell what happened with Marina and myself eventually. It is part of being in this very unique community and trying to help others by exposing my own failures. What does not kill us makes us stronger as they say. Everyone here is a volunteer and I think that everyone that decides to stand and swipe at someone else for their life chices should respect that fact. These folks could say nothing and just walk away quietly. However they don't they stay and offer insight. Bigoted? Biased? Sure we are all human. Personally I enjoy what QC writes and if I am not careful he will turn his sharp mind at me one day. Anyway I think that is all together enough from me. Awareness. You can find the most beautiful, well educated woman with the best family background to turn on your quest for family life. But if she is not somewhat aware or have a basic notion of how a capitalistic system works at all levels of society, YOU have an uphill battle in your hands and a serious repsonsibility to make sure you find a way to communicate how important it is for her, you and the welfare of the family you're trying to put together that she be open minded about learning these things. Now add this to the often underestimated problem of your mutual inability to communicate in one common language and you'll understand one of the reasons why I was so adamant about corresponding only with women who spoke at least one of my languages. Now QC...in summary. I have a woman who is skilled enough to write her own work ticket to any almost western industrialized country of her choice, multilingual and talented in her field of expertise, a woman that grew up among relatives who in the past, currently and probably in the future will continue to date, fall in love, marry and build strong families with men 15-30 years older, has most of my own goals as common ground for us to want to do this. And if that wasn't enough, we're both great with each other in the sack, as well. So I hope you realize that your unnecessary resentment, and blatant ignorance about my personal situation is far wider than the validity of the concerns you raise. It's not that hard to dig a little and find some nuggets of validity and I hope my 'minions' see it as clear as I do. Water seeks its own level, QC. So does MY Lena. Second, no matter how much they think they know about our society or there periphiral workings around it, they cannot understand our society until living in it day by day.That makes about as much sense as me going to Ukraine with my background as a student of Soviet and communistic theory to say I could survive over there in their society. That's a bunch of Hogwash. You'll take your beatings first and maybe you will survive. Just because someone is talented in another country does not guarantee a damn thing here. That's what I like about it here they're no guarantees, though our government is trying to create a dependant society. Maybe they will understand it, it is not far from the communist model today. So when people start blowing smoke up my ass about something, I just sit back and wait for the smoke to settle then the truth will be known. It's back to we have our own issues to resolve with our women and I really don't give a flying you know what about anyone else's. All I wish is everyone to be successful and happy in their endeavours here. It is not just applicable to FSU women. I came here from England 21 years ago. It took me easily 5 years to adapt to the American culture. Now all my reference points are American and there is no more confusion. Up until I took on board American ideals whether I agreed with them or not I was not a happy camper. And I speak the same language fluently. How much worse is it for a woman from Russia? Crash I guess I am the one with the bad luck. Ho hum. No problem. I also admire QC for his van travels. We are all strong adventurous men or we would not be seeking our happiness outside of the normal envelope. Our personalities are reflected by our varied responses to the stimuli of the forum. I personally celebrate the tirades of Toad and the progressive cynicism of QC. All these statements are a great stimulus. We all know that our women will accept a certain amount of Westernization as they live with us. Nevertheless, rather than dwell on the negatives why not celebrate their growth and encourage them into positive lanes of change. It's a no-brainer that age differences are less of an issue if you remain in a country where it is culturally acceptable and the competition for a mate is not so challenging. The reality is that there are many more financially secure eligible younger men in the U.S than in the FSU. The good news is that they tend not to travel. Too busy making money. I have heard a Russian lady complaining "Why don't the quality men come here?" Not sure I liked her inference.. Problems may develop when you remove a female from this happy situation and place her in an environment where large age differences are NOT the norm. Isolated instances of success should not detract from the fact that these relationships have a higher probability of failure. How many of you have gone through balls-aching divorces. Do you really want to go through that crap again? Some men seeking FSU ladies are NOT confident, successful, men about town. They are typical fucked-up middle-aged farts, who couldn't find a decent woman in the west if they bit them on the arse. Just as in SE Asia, you can see them given a new lease of life, pawing their economically-needy young things, believing that deep down these women genuinely adore them. If that delusion gives you some comfort then enjoy it but we know that once it ends, the cries of anguish are pitiful. Toad's 'Due diligence' should factor that the odds of success increase if you remove some of the obvious weaknesses. If you want to risk it, then go ahead. Who's to say, that a few years, with a wonderful young woman, is not worth every minute of painful fallout, should she head for the door. What's acceptable to you? If, (unlikely), I marry a woman under 30, I will probably live in her country.
