I too have been to Ukraine/Russia many times--in fact, six times in the past 15 months. I too have friends who are Russian--in fact the couple that lives across the street from me are Russian, I used to work at the Russian community center in my city, and there are many other Russian/Ukranian people that I know in my community. However, unlike you, I know of several successful marriages between American men and Russian women. One has been married for about 11 years, the other for about five. Granted, I also know of unsuccessful marriages between AM and RW. But this is no different from American couples that I know. Some marriages work, some don't. It's unfortunate that you have managed to alienate nearly all of the regular posters on this forum in the few days that you have been posting. I, for one, would have been interested to hear more about your experiences, especially your opinion that Ukranian women are very lazy. Your posts have struck no nerves with me, but given the fact that you probably consider me to be "fucken Stupid," I don't imagine that I'll be the least bit interested in anything else that you have to say here. P.S. You used the word "capitulate" incorrectly in a previous post. There are maybe 500 software, mechanical, electrical and all the supporting staff surrounding me. I am English the guy opposite me is Indian. There are Cubans, Iranians, and Lebanese and yes FSU guys all around me. One of my best friends is Sergey. He is Ukrainian from Kharkov and originally from Kazakhstan. He was the one that originally advised me to find a woman in FSU. He has been away for 10 years and has absolutely no axe to grind. I know of other marriages that are successful AM/UW. In fact I don't personally know of one divorce. American divorces yes, plenty, including me. Just because you had a bad experience doesn't mean I will. You paint the whole entire population of the entire FSU with a sweeping brush. It is ridiculous. Incidentally your writing ability and spelling is so poor that I think the only "fucken Stupid' or "Clown" here is you. So why don't you go off and take some remedial writing classes and leave the forum to those who are positive? You are not convincing anybody just annoying pretty much all of us. Also we don't have extravagant prices for homes and cars as you do in Europe. Segemented markets here are expensive but overall home ownership is quite easy for most Americans. As for travelling every six weeks to visit, a round trip ticket from Heathrow to Kiev is only 256 USD. Not much money compared to a trip from Chicago to Kiev also we don't have the luxury of having 8 weeks a year off and the numerous holidays that are celebrated in Europe. So if it was only 256 dollars a trip for me to see my lady in Mariupol, I would go twice a month. So airfare wouldn't be much of a problem either. I wish you and Christopher the best, but as with most Europeans I have encountered, your arrogance and negativity outshines what you may really be as a person. There is a very good reason I left England 21 years ago. Lousy jobs and the ones that there were paid poorly. Of course things could have changed in that time but I doubt it. 10% unemployement is kind of hard to turn around. And Maggie did enough damage to take years to heal. The average Brit I knew lived in a state of above average poverty. The hovels I lived in were not for a rat in America. There were and are still not showers as a standard item in each home. A bath a week was the thng for me and I drove to my parents to take it. Europe is not the land of milk and honey and it is why I left. And remember I am a skilled guy I was an electronics engineer there also. They paid badly. Life was depressing, English women were the worst, the weather sucked, there were no other jobs to go to, working for yourself was a pipedream and of course let us not forget the good old class structure system. Now I know some of those things have changed but Britain in general has been clinging to its former glory for decades. There is nothing magical about Britain or Brits. I will stick with my blue passport over my red one. I will always retain my British citizenship and don't get the wrong idea I will use any little perk I can get from being British. They owe me big time. I am also not a died in the wool American willing to support the USA come hell or high water. I like to treat everything on a case by case basis. I have no intention or retiring here can't afford it but I will cross that bridge when the time comes. So Annika remember that your boyfriend is not an average British man. He is wealthy far beyond the norm in our home country. He lives and works in another country and speaks a couple of langiages other than English. This is absolutely not the normal situation. British people generallt cannot speak another language as most Germans, Dutch, Norwegian and Swedish can. They struggle from month to month and buying a home os a nightmare for them. Europe and Britain I love but because it is in my blood, that is the only logic I can give. It is not a prosperous or comfortable as you seem to think Annika. It can be real ROUGH. Many of these people are working 2 or 3 jobs as a normal way of life just to make it each week. I was in Italy in 2003 and spoke to many Italians all over the country. They were hard up. They were having a really tough time. You are lucky you have struck gold but Chris is not main stream. He is an exception. I may not be the wealthiest guy on the forum but my heart is in the right place. I struggle through this process and I have hope for the future. If I can make this work with Elena she will be better of than where she is and Ilya will have a future. Stop rubbing in your wonderful situation by sideways putting down the rest of us.
