boredfukka,
My wife is actually in Ukraine at the moment. I'm amused that you question though why one would travel to Ukraine if already married and this has something to do with me mentioning the thousands that the process will cost. Once married it should require one or two trips back to FSU each year, the travelling doesn't stop once you are married, this isn't a problem for me as I love her family and they love me.
I don't 'do' low cost carriers and there is little if any need to if one knows how to book tickets. By joining airline frequent flyer programmes one can get email notifications of special offers, on 01 July Austrian Airlines sent such an email and I basically booked my tickets for the rest of the year (it was valid until 31 December) thus I'm travelling London to Dnepropetrovsk next week for GBP28.00 plus the extra's, GBP138.10 in total, your low cost carriers cannot beat that and of accumulated frequent flyer points I have enough points for a free round trip with Ukraine International, a free round trip with Lufthansa (despite how shite they were on my Munich to Timisoara flight yesterday) and about 75% towards a free round trip with KLM. Tickets need not be expensive if one knows how to book.
USD100 is the Irish pub is very easy and O'Briens are not really Irish pubs, they are merely restaurants that have Guinness on the menu. USD100 = 2 main courses, perhaps steak or shashlik, the potatoes and vegetables are extra, then a starter or two, maybe a desert (for her), a few beers and a few wines and that's the best part of USD100 gone.
Martin You are eating in the wrong places then. I paid about twenty quid when I was in Lvov for three meals and drinks. Anyway I am in Bratislava. I flew with thomson to salzburg for 4quid plus 15quid tax, took a train to bratislava for 20quid too and tomorrow I will go to the ukraine from here. so 40quid sofar one way and I guess the train to the ukraine will be about another 20. I flew from Coventry as well which is nearer than Brum seein as I live in warwick.
The point is I dont know when I want to return and I dont want a fixed date or airport to fly back from and the prices you mention are good but you prob have to put in a return date. All well and good for you but for me I dont know where I will end up. Hey, can I get a visa to russia in Kiev do you know
boredfukka,
There is sure to be a Russian consulate, for issuing a visa, in Kiev but will they speak English?
With regard to restaurant prices prices in Ukraine, next week will be my 12th trip there, prices do vary from city to city, I have eaten in Kiev, Odessa, Nikolaev, Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye. Zaporozhye, not just restaurants but apartments also, seems to be the most expensive of the lot and whilst the Irish Pub is the most expensive to eat in it is not that much more expensive than the other decent restaurants in town.
In reasonable restaurant in Kiev price for meal is about $20 - 25. Drinks extra. I have tried some of the local places that dont speak or have English language menus and they can be as low as $5-10.
There is a Russian embassy in Kiev. Check out their visa requirements and fill out their application form prior to going there. There are many websites that have these.
well I am in Kosice, which is on the border with the Ukraine in slovakia. I am wrecked! Wish I had taken a direct flight now. 5 hours by train from Bratislava but it only cost me 15 quid to Lvov from Bratislava. I have been sleeping all afternoon and still havent recovered yet. Will take a big deep sleep for 10 hours to get over it. So far spent 55quid on tickets and 20quid on a hotel tonight.
Thanks for the advice. I will check it all out once I get over the border.
Whats it like in Timisoara. Soz I cant find the question mark on this slovak computer. I am going to Uzghorod by bus and walking over the border. I thought about possibly making a back packers hostel in Timisoara, even though I have never been there. Thought it might be cheap to buy something there. Have a look at the real estate for me if you have time and see how much a flat costs there.
Why are you having such a terrible time in a 4star hotel.
Thought you liked direct flights and a limousine door to door service. LOl only joke. Is Uzghorod worth stopping in or should i get the hell out of it asap and move on down.
Timisoara is good, I like it but more particularly I like the people I work with there, have just gpt home?
Back packers hostel? You can get a 3 star hotel for 35 euros, have you seen a Romanian back packer or the equivalent of, no way Jose :)
I was joking regarding the terrible time, I got to bed at 4 o'clock (I think) this morning and it took me until mid this afternoon to sober up.
Never been to Uzghorod and if you can find a direct scheduled flight from UK to Timisoara, currently being operated' then I'll buy you a beer, my days are spent at Timisoara airport thus I see exactly what airlines fly there and I get free tickets with Carpatair and Moldavian Airlines anyway.
Uzghorod is a small town. The ladies are nice. It is like watching a fashion show except you are sitting in a bar and looking out of the window.
Why do you get free tickets with Carpatair? They told me that they do fly to Chisinau. But anyway, the chisinau ladies off you know who's dating site have miraculously disappeared now I am within reach. But hey it doesnt matter now, coz I am in the Ukraine so I dont care whether the chicas on ere are a real deal or not, although I suspect the latter :))
Whats the chicas like in Timi? I must be about 150miles away or thereabouts.
visa to moldova is 50 euro.
coming from ukraina and passing transdniestre you will have no chance to get a visa to moldova. only coming from romania it is easy possible at the border.
No. boredfukka became asickfukka because he drank the water in ukraine without boiling the water in a kettle. The water is perfectly fine as long as it is boiled first.Oh yes i better spell this out-let the boiled water cool down again before drinking.
