Adman, and others who may read this,
It had totally escaped my memory until now, that when I subscribed to Bride.ru, and looked at a girls details with a view to contacting her, I was given her e-mail address, her phone no. and the address at which she resides! Sorry to compare, but Fiance.com won't even tell you which agency their girls belong to.
tringa,
But in my previous experience of bride.ru there was an extremely poor response rate, much less than other sites, and it was my belief, then, that they were copying & pasting profiles from other sites and/or regurgitating out of date profiles.
And how have you, and others, got on cancelling your Credit Card subscription to bride.ru?
As I recall, OK I'm going back a few years, their instruction was to send an email before a particular date in the month but the provided email address was bouncing back emails thus they continued to charge, and charge, and charge etc.
king Arthur,
Sorry, sometimes what we write can be understood in more than one way. What I was trying to point out was that although I was given advice to the contrary, I gave this lady the respect she deserved by not writing to any one else. And now we are arranging a meet.
Adman,
Sent you some more info, but it seems it was not printed so I will word it a different way:
When you subscribe to that site, you get the ladys independent e-mail address, her personal or work telephone no; and also her home address! Pretty good indication that these girls are real.
Tringa,
I don't know your experiences but to write to one girl out of respect is crazy. It doesn't sound like you met this girl yet. This is not the best place to put all your eggs in one basket. Sometimes the basket doesn't show up and if it does, chances are very slim it goes anywhere. I was to met a girl one time, our letters were personal, spoke of what we will do when we meet....she never showed up, disappeared. Luckily, I had a backup. I guess you are not heeding the advice of others who have a wealth of experience which you could draw on. I hope she turns out to be what you thought and I wish you the best of luck but I can already read the writing on the wall!!
And, as an oblique reply to other members that make all sorts of oblique innuendos in other threads, I think that the moderators could confirm that several posts of mine were sent from Ukraine, over the last few months. AND a member of this forum DID MEET me in Ukraine, in Kiev for the record!!!!!
King Arthur,
I was referring to the fact that although I was given advice to the contrary, I gave this lady the respect that she deserved by not writing to anyone else.
tringa,
I understood it the first time you wrote it, as well as the second time. I just have a different point of view, can I? I could subscribe beemer's post, VERY sensible. You asked thousands of irrelevant questions, but didn't, and still don't heed the advice of others who have some experience. Good luck for the n-th time!!!!!
It's funny how threads come off topic and it's okay. Unless you disagree with someone. WTF does abbreviations for certain states have to do with Agencys and private contact? Seems to be some hypocrisy in this here forum.
Also if Tringa wants to write a girl only, that's his business. When I found the one I wanted to meet, I also just corresponded with her only. Why, because my focus of my upcoming trip was for her and her only. If it would have bombed, well then I can rearrange my agenda then. I don't understand why some guys have to have a preplanned backup plan, when your back up plan is only a phone call away if your meeting fails.
If you stay focused on the girl you want to meet, over time, you will find out if she's real, or a fraud and save yourself some grief and wasted money spent. In a way if you spend your time focused on one lady, she knows she is the center of your attention, not just some layover for the next lady.
Agencys have a usefulness in the early contact stages, but for the meeting, I would separate the influence of the agency before I arrived. If you can't then it's your call whether to meet or not. I don't really think agencys bring any value to the table for the meeting. You can find a translator in any town, most apartments you will stay at will provide one. It would be better to have a disinterested third party involved, not an agency when their only concern is how many of their services they can sell you and not that your relationship should become a success. It's just a waste of money, paying for the translators apartment, her fees etc. Just a waste.
When you see what an agency is all about, you will come to the realization, they are not there to make you meeting successful. They are there to make money, end of story.
