If you want to try and win this argument? Try to go into a little more details, because your coming off as someone completely retarded to me... ;0
Maybe you wrote this because you were defensive I called socials a cattle-call. Yet, I admitted I also thought they might be fun to go to one. You got defensive because you met your current gal that way. Cool, I am sure it was a nice time.
Yet, you now proclaim some sort of superior-method of meeting women in the FSU is socials? Ok, that's your opinion,
But why are you doing telling us that writing a girl, before meeting her is idiotic, because her profile was being written by a translator at her marriage agency? Wtf?
I'm not telling "us" anything. I'm telling YOU you're an idiot.
You've already lost whatever argument we might be having as you lack logic or any sort of sense. I'm sure that you have no life - which is why you spend all of your time making foolish comments on every thread here.
I will comment on, or give helpful advice to anyone else here in the forum, because that's what its here for. But you are not worth responding to any further and I won't - because you are an idiot.
Apal, say you meet this perfect woman in her country and both your body language show's you are passionate about each other, how are you going to communicate about visa's etc, Computer translators are woeful, Russia is a big country, she may have to travel thousands of miles for an interview for a visa, what if she urgently needs to ask you a question. A bit of advice, brain in gear before mouth.
Its a good point zeeco. Explaining to a girl why she needs to submit a whole lot of papers to an embassy is not going to easy if you don't speak a common language. Not to mention that not speaking a common language is a good reason to refuse the visa. Its fine using sign language and translators while your at a resturant etc, but when you both disagree about something and can't communication your point of view or when you need to explain something quickly like zeeco says its a different story.
As far as I can see socials seem like a good idea. Never tried myself, but at least you can understand quickly if a girl is interested in you and what she is really like by little things like how she treats a waitor or her friends or you. Apal I'm thinking if you meet that crazy girl your talk about at a social you would have moved on very quickly instead of writing letters for months.
I'm surprised too that guys don't seem to talk to girls on the phone. I meet my wife in person but when I was at home we talked each day on the phone. She never used a computer once.
The language problem is valid but when looking for your partner, if the perfect girl for you does not speak your language, you drop her??? When first meeting girl it is strictly a learning experience, granted if you need a translator, it is definately more difficult. But if there is something between you two and both are willing to
go through the difficulties more power to you. The language problem is just one more step to deal with but I don't think it is the most difficult. There are other things such as adaptability of girl, whether to leave country, closenesss to family, children. These I think would be bigger reasons for relationship not working. Just my humble opinion. By the way, I am learning russian just in case I meet the girl I have been looking for. Everyone has their way of finding their love. If you don't want the challenge of language problems, fine, you don't deal with it but let others deal with it their own way. I have my opinions and so do you..that is all it is.
Must admit that i am learning Russian as well - if this girl is the one I want to spend some time with her in her native country as well as in my own. It helps to know the language to get around.
My saying is....if you really want to do something..you will do it!!
If it was easy everyone's would be doing it.
I have got several books, audio, Rosetta Stone and now classes at college. I russian class
seems to be easiest to learn language...hearing the words and pronunciation is best!!!
I have the Pimsluer CDs. "Russian on the Go", "Russian In Your Car", and many others. I have nearly every Russian course featured on ebay or Amazon.com including, Hugo's Russian in 30 days, Penguin "Rusiian Course" (old and new version) Barron's "Learn Russian the Easy Fun Way" numerous Russian dictionaries.
Every now and then I would surprise my lady or her mother with how much I knew - answering a question posed in Russian or something similar. Actually made them a little uneasy as my lady asked me several times if I understood a lot more than I was letting on to. (I honestly don't and didn't).
yeah same here jetmba. I do understand somethings, just enough for them to second guess if I do understand whats being said. Got lots of books and CDs are well and had a personal teacher but finding the time is hard. I think it would be better to live there for a few months and be forced to learn. However not knowing russian means not having to talk to the mother in law or running the risk of saying the wrong thing.
She was surprised that I knew certain "advanced technical Russina words" that are actually basic science.
She refered to a jellyfish as a "medusa" and seemed suprised I knew that. "Medusa" is simply the scientific term which is derived from latin (and yes even Slavic languages steal from latin on occassion. She asked me where I studied Russian language biology!
Someone offered me tea and I heard "sucrose" (or something very similar) mentioned - I said "Nyet, spaceeba" because I recognized that "sucrose" a chemical term for a componet of sugar.
These "advanced" terms I knew certainly didn't come from my study of Russian!
Adman: AFA (the company I went with last - provides 10 or 15 translators free of charge for the 6 hour duration of the party. Though I didn't use one - I must admit they were constantly checking with me to see if I needed one.
Afterward - for other dates - you can book with these same translators on your own. The going rate was $10 per hour.
zeeco - you communicate via translators and attorneys when paperwork is filed. if you want to do it the poor chap way, then its going to be rather impossible.
ben - If anyone meets that particular crazy girl? She would have anyone of you fooled. A true sociopath that one.. went from angeleyes to demoneyes in 24 hours, even her speech changed. She now labels herself as multisided individual...
The language barrier is rather peculiar and does have its difficulties, yet to me it has a complete charm of its own. Sure it can be difficult in legal channels and such, and one really should work towards a common language as soon as possible - agreed. But I am not going to agree with someone simply because its supposed to tell us all some sort of law...
Like jetmba always does - flys off the handle, huge insecurities, a lot of immature remarks... now I know why he has to attend a social, he's a first rate flake.
Oh yeah, let's have some more immaturity there Jet -
btw, last tyrade Jet went on, it lasted two weeks about all these sick sex jokes about pre-pubescent boys... thats jetmba... flake...
Apal, you are deluded, Are you going to use a translator for every conversation???
And i got my girl over here without any help from the legal profession, but that was because both me and my girl speak the SAME language, like i said use the brain before the mouth!!!!
I'm not going to get into the middle of this argument :-) But all I know is that meeting a girl who doesn't know any english who you have to use an interpretor with totally stinks. I know from experience that it's really hard to get to know what she is really like this way plus it is really uncomfortable having some other person there with you at ALL times when you are with this girl you like.
I have no desire to meet a women who knows no english again. She doesn't have to be fluent but at least if she knows a little bit you can get by on your own with her. It is still difficult though but better.
To each his own.....I don't mind in beginning having to use an interpreter but only to a point. I do understand that it does get in way of getting to know girl. Most times when meeting girl, even one that speaks english well, it is mainly general talk. As you get to know her, then it can become more personal. At that point you just hope girl is very interested in you to have enough patience to try communicating without help. If she still needs interpreter, maybe it is not real. Guys, even if she spoke english, she could just be not interested anyway. I have had experience both ways. I hope to find a girl that speaks at least some english but if she doesn't, it won't deter me. If I feel she is right for me, I won't let the language problem be the reason it will not work out. Most important is chemistry and common interests. A different languages can be learned.........feelings...it is either there or not there.
apal does have a valid point. For HIM it makes sense to fall in love with a girl who speaks no english whatsoever. Think about it. If she speaks english - she might understand what he is saying in general conversation - and if she does that, she will recognize that he is a complete idiot which would cause her to lose any interest in him - since most FSU women value cleverness and intelligence in men.
No - for apal it makes perfect sense to look for women who speak no english EXCLUSIVELY. And under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should she take any lessons in speaking english. His only chance is to make sure she stays in the dark completely.
I never said language was an issue - whether she speaks complete fluent English or not. You did. I don't have all these 'women' problem you seem to be experiencing to the nth degree.
So go ahead with all your non-sensical arguments to everything I say, simply because I stepped all over your insecure, middle-aged, fragile ego regarding how you met your girl. And out of your completely freakish way, you overblow it into some juvinile attacks, because you thought I was insulting social events.
You have a lot of growing up to do 'pal'. You got some deep psycho roots bubbling to the service with some of this crap that comes out of you when your under stress...
