Just as an example, and having never set foot in FSU, he is complaining that he doesn't like the cuisine and is crying our for burgers and pizza's. How can he possibly say he doesn't like something if he hasn't been there? He claims that borsch is served cold, well I've had it served hot, he's never tasted the shashlik, the steaks (and O'Briens Irish Pub in Zaporozhye serve the most delightful pepper steak) and all the other dishes. Admittedly the french fries can be a bit hit or miss depending where one eats but, and Nasfan will know what I'm talking about, there is a common fried potatoes and mushrooms dish that, if served well, is worth dying for. But, hey, aussieman is already trying to put all others off Ukrainian (FSU) cuisine, a cuisine that he has never tasted thus doesn't know what the hell he is talking about and just as another example he stated that Krivoy Rog doesn't have an airport, well those of you with Google Earth try searching on it for 'UKDR' and then ask aussieman to explain what the fock that 8,202ft runway is doing there if it ain't Krivoy Rog airport :) Ekagra Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 10/14/2007 3:46:22 PM   Crikey! Is there something wrong with a picture where an older man insists upon a woman in the prime of her fertility, and yet gets into a snit because she wants some "thing" in the bargain as well? Her youthful vitality is a thing, and a very precious one. You think she should trade it for some soul-mates mumbo-jumbo, from some popka-obsessed master of tedium? The relationship of man to woman is not like that of Jesus to the disciples. You can have a soul mates relationship with a dead poet. Men-Women may move on to that more ethereal ground but one must start by putting gifts on the table. With a younger man it is vitality traded for vitality and it is all square. An older man must pony up. I saw material ambition in the Ukraine. The most frequently asked question I was asked was what car I drive. The girls in Donetsk walked about with their Hugo Boss and Armani shopping bags, though you know they did not have the means for it -- they were making a statement about their ambitions. Just because someone likes BMWs does not make them a gold-digger, it just means they want a better life than what they have. Lots of people enjoy nice things but most can keep it in perspective and understand that a Fendi bag is not the ticket to a harmonious relationship. True gold-diggers are easy to spot, though stories like Gladiator's in another thread are disconcerting. Here are behaviors of the gold diggers I have so far observed online: show bathing suit pictures, thought sexual imagery at you though you have not met, drop big name designers as coveted items with out being asked about it. I get served those potatos and mushrooms about once a week. Actually we eat very little American cuisine at our house. Mostly Ukrainian and Russian meals, with some Polish tossed in. Of which there is only one meal she made me I didn't like and it's just because I'm not fond of goose liver or any liver for that matter. She makes some killer marinated wings and we shop at a Russian market in either Louisville, Indianapolis or Cincinnati. The part that's dangerous, is claiming that all these women are scammers, since our friend Aussieman has never stepped foot in the country. Hell you couldn't tell you what the Main Streets in Kiev or Mariupol are, but he will tell you that all the women are scammers. Ridiculous and wreckless. Here's some advice Aussieman. Take a trip there, quit writing the girls and take a trip there. Try Crimea in the summer. Then hit Kiev, its just a short cab ride from Yalta to Simferopol to catch a plane to Kiev. Then come back and give a report. I bet you've been shot down many times by these girls because of how you act online. I just came back from 6 days in Kiev as an "intro", was also in Germany most of the trip. There were more beautiful women there than I have seen just about anywhere else I have travelled to. I live in Los Angeles too. You mentioned that you lived there a year and date as many women as I can to see if this is the thing for me. I was married to someone from another country whom I wrote for over a year back in the early 80's, she immigrated and we were married for 19 years. We made the mistake of NOT really dating, and living together was not an option- this mistake cost me dearly financially and emotionally. This time I will live in the "home country" for as long as it takes, I might not even get married even. But being up for an adventure, I am there. I could support a golddigger, but that isn't my idea to find a trophy wife. Do Ukrainian women accept "living together" arrangements like it has become standard practice in the U.S.? How did you find the "hassle factor" of language, phone connection quality back to states (I intend to stay there extended period of time and run my business remotely), DSL or other internet. The number forwarding based in the U.S. is not the concern- but whether the sound quality is so transparent that you have no idea where the call is originating. It is readily apparent when you call some supposedly U.S. based company and the guy on the other end is answering from India.. I need it to be top notch regardless of cost- I suppose Skype is an option, I have avoided researching this as of yet. The old Iridium Satellite phone system is just too expensive. With it you buy a charge. It costs 2 cents a minute to call the states from Ukraine. 11 cents to call Ukraine. The quality is excellent as long as you do not have an Internet slow down. It comes over your computer speakers and is better than any phone speaker I ever used. You can get a number to be called in to but I have never used that feature. The airport at Krivoy Rog has no scheduled commercial airline flights to it...its an air freight terminal and for private charter or government flights. The nearest accessible commercial air line airport is Dneproprotrovisk, 130 kilometres away and its an international terminal. If you fly via Vienna, Austria to Dnep.,Ukraine, you have a choice of 4 scheduled flights everyday with Austrian Airlines that fly smaller 50 seat aircraft there. Sorry cant help you with phones, I just get a local SIM card for communications although I also have a business phone on global roaming it is very expensive to use. It seems that girls have no problems with livig together if it is a serious relationship. Broadband is available. I dont really find language a barrier. The GF speaks english and I taught myself cyrillic in a weekend. Once you can read it is easier to pick up words and identify major signs. Then just start picking up the language. As I have spent most of my time in Kiev and Odessa I have never had difficulties in find english speakers to help me. Rag'n'Bull Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 10/15/2007 5:46:20 AM   To Dnepropetrovsk there is one Austrian flight a day, I've used it several times, there is also Dniproavia that fly direct to one airport or another in Germany, Luftansa also operate there but only sometimes, there are also flights to/from Moscow, Turkish Airlines have been operating to/from Istanbul a couple of times a week and the international departure lounge has a nice little bar and duty free shop and is located on the upper floor of the terminal,anything else you want to tell me about Dnepropetrovsk airport that you didn't watch on your video? P.S. OK it is internet so the quality can be excellent or not so good but half the time people are calling on a mobile or Skype so can pin the blame on them. I am in UK but have a 2nd home in Zaporozhye, Ukraine, as soon as time permits I'll be setting up an office in Zaporozhye on (internet) UK phone numbers and between these internet phones the calls are free so can communicate with the office staff in Ukraine from wherever I may be free of charge and normal phone lines in/out of Ukraine, well a hit or miss affair whether you get a connection or not. The last leg was a smaller Trolean operated plane. At that time there were no English speaking people at customs. I was armed at that time with only three months of Pimsluer Russian and customs ask me to help translate for another passenger with little success. I could say very little and understood nothing when they talked. Flying out of Dnepropetrovsk they did have English speakers in Customs. It seemed that each ask if I liked Ukraine better than the states. I answered honestly that I truly enjoyed Ukraine but the United States was my home country and my first love. This reply always got a warm smile. When we landed the plane unloaded into a minivan that took us to the customs department. There were plenty of heavily armed Militia both where we unloaded the plane and where we entered the building. When I flew out I was able to take a photo of refueling the plane with it looked like a 1940 vintage army semi trailer tanker. I must say that I enjoyed the experience very much.
