1.Ok let me say it like this and explain my self a bit , no I am not going to Ukraine because I cant get a match anywhere, but going to Ukraine to meet one girl and she says have to go away during weekend fine, yes her battery could have gone out, but it never did before,it could but what is the chances for that calculated in percent
2.I do believe she is honest really I do, but we have a expression here in sweden, everything you say should be true, but you dont have to mention everything thats true.
3.ok professional dater might have been a strong word, I didnt mean she was a scammer, but maybe not telling everything thats true. Am I paranoid ,no I am not I maybe go there anyway, but I go there without any expectations what ever, as I said if I go I go just to meet her, and I know that I could have a great time anyways, So what if she has some secrets who hasnt and she isnt obliged to let me know everything she does right ?.
4.If we could predict the future we wouldnt be in this forum speculating about everything right,I say what happens happens either it may be for god and for worse.only time will tell.
I gave up after the first, but you seem like a Terrier. Persistence nearly almost pays except when trying to enlighten a Swedish Brick.
Time will only tell a miserly future for it because he'll has to get off his arse, and that means he'll be jealous about whoever else will sit on his chair.
Give up Jet, a lost cause for a lost case.
Tack för den komplimangen Taylor Swift, jag älskar Usa också.
Ok I might sound like a suspicious guy, but given the fact that I am 37 and have had previous relations ,and get burned in the last one, suspicion can be a thing that saves your economy and maybe more.
yes You shouldnt be so suspicious,I agree but I felt something was ot quite right and sometimes you should listen to the doubtful side, going to ukraine is not like going ad visit your neighbor city.
anyways she last time she wrote me she said that she would , and I emphasize WOULD go and visit her relatives with her mom and dad, probably nothing fishy about that, but when I checked her previous letter the emailheader all of them pointed to her hometown, the last one showed that he origin of the email was sent from Kiev, the place she couldnt meet me in.
ok I say nothing yet I will be discrete and politely ask where her relatives live without sounding like I am interegating her.If she gives the right answer I rest my case, and say no more, then I admit I have serious doubt issues, and maybe have a slight tendensy of Paranoia.
I have no issues if people dont say everything, what I have issues with are if people are saying one thing and it is a lie, one lie often is linked together with other lies.
So if you still want to see me as to cautious go ahead,it doesnt matter to me, you may believe whatever but I am to old to believe in fairytales.
Cautious is good in my book! Anyways whats the worst can happen? you get to spend some time with a good looking girl! I had big doubts about going too but this is what I thought about in the end I get to go to a new place and spend some time with a good looking girl!
Trouble is Man...you have only known this girl for a few weeks...does look like you are paranoid going back and forth with suspicions. It takes several months of commmunication to know girl better and you will have better idea. The thought to jump on plane after couple weeks tells much of your thinking process.
I talked with her today, and asked her a few questions, and yes I said of course I am afraid coming to a foreign country, seeing her for the first time, you hear about things that happen in Ukraine and she said crime rate is high in Ukraine so she understood that I was cautious, you maybe think I am a sissy, but I served in the swedish elite military forces, but that doesnt mean anything if you are fooled in to a taxi and they drive you to a alley where 10 guys are waiting to mug you.
you think you are known in the east of europe, but I tell you I have been in poland where I and 2 friends of mine accidentaly stumbled into a territory occupied by polish gypsies, we were chased by german shepherd dogs and they finaly caught up to us and wondered what the hell we were trespassing their territory, and they had shotguns pointed at us, he said you and your friends have 60 seconds to get the hell out of here, do you think I asked what happens if we stay 61 seconds.
So dont ask me whether I am a man or not, I know that in certain areas in the world your life isnt worth shit.
and if i could assure myself that everything is ok or atleast do as best as I can I will do so if not for myself, because I have a son that I dont want to be fatherless because his father thought with his dick instead of his head.
But concerning the woman as I am going to meet yes she is genuine, she has told me alot more about herself, I am not worried about her, I wouldnt travel to ukraine if a woman said only to me , you come to me and meet me her in the airport, you can trust me.
You can get driven into an alley, by a taxi driver, where ten guys are waiting to mug you in ANY CITY IN THE WORLD>
I speak from experience. On my third trip to the FSU I drank too much vodka (got very drunk) - followed a guy into an alley who claimed he was a taxi driver. And I got mugged and beaten up. Punched and kicked in the head. I didn't even realize that he had a knife until later. (He sliced my wallet and threw half away.)
People were surprised that I went back to the FSU a fourth, fifth..... now I've made nine trips.
I explain that the same thing could happen ANYWHERE to someone not being careful. In my small hometwon in Wisconsin we have a large Mexican migrant population and several bars that cater to them. If I allowed myself to get that drunk in one of those bars and walked down the wrong alley I would CERTAINLY get mugged.
So what do I do? Move? No. I just watch it. (Certainly now better than before.) And I am as safe there as I am here.
(Strangely this reminds of an old joke. A guy heard that 90% of all accidents occur within 10 miles of home. So what did he do? He MOVED!"
Sweden is a member of the european union yes, and you can be muged in your own neighborhod aswell, but seeing that a average month pay in ukraine is 200$ and if a guy from the west travels there he maybe are carrying around with several months of pay worth to them.So for them it must be more tempting I guess. So yes I believe in caution when going to a country with a low bnp,
But being mugged in that way I believe is not so common, because that would be a severe crime compared with fooling you of the money, and I believe that many countries apreciates the tourism as a income, and they dont want that kind of crime, that would scare off the tourist,so if some one does a crime like that they would probably facing a hard punishment by the courts in their country.
of course when I go there I will not have my money loaded with cash, I will surely take it easy with the drinking, a drunk guy is a easy victim, and I will go there to meet a woman not to get drunk.
Latvia is noted as a very dangerous country for tourists they have their own Mafia who often rob Tourists
glad you got away Jet without any serious damage, I have some friends who just returned from there on a stag party after winning big in a casino the 3 were cornered as they left and brought to a different area where they were handcuffed and brought to a atm and all were emptied ,guns etc were used, still ones life is worth more Id be happy to get away with just that. I only had one bad experience that was while I was in Hungary my brother met a nice girl and went home with her I lost my two other friends so I walked into a bar on my own..big mistake after two beers I was handed a bill for 250 euros, I was quite annoyed and not drunk and refused to pay luckily I had left my cards behind me and showed them my wallet claiming I was poor etc I argued and argued (im quite good at this lol) and went through about 4 difference people they told me I was going to jail etc I said no problem,, after about 3 hours I was let go they accepted a 50 euro I had ,still it could have gone worse. Below im just quoting from another site but I believe its very true.
'Corresponding is ok to start getting to know someone. But it is unless if you don't meet. Procrastination can cost you, while you delay someone else may travel and close the deal with the women that could have been your sole mate. Stop making excuses and go'Less than 1% of the men that write women will ever get on a plane and go. Women get very tired of writing men that never come.
I can understand people in the states or Oz not going us Europeans have no excuse....
I am not making excuses colin I was just talking about the importance of caution, I have already bought the tickets I am leaving for Ukraine next week, because we have a 5 day holiday I have already talked with her about that, so she would meet me at the airport, she had already got an apartment for me in a safe place as she said,at a reasonable price, I didnt ask her what a reasonable price is ,but since I trust her in all other ways,so I will trust her judgement in that matter.
Thanks for all the advice, and well see how things will go, who knows
Specifically regarding something you said... "and I believe that many countries apreciates the tourism as a income, and they dont want that kind of crime, that would scare off the tourist,so if some one does a crime like that they would probably facing a hard punishment by the courts in their country."
You're right. Latvia DEFINITELY wants tourism dollars and I heard mention in Riga (where it the mugging happened) that crimes of this type are so rare as to be practically unheard of or reported in the city. There is a reason for that.
Immediately after the mugging, I went back to the bar that I had been drinking at and the police were summoned. Nobody spoke english so a translator was called (woken up) and I went with an officer to his home to pick him up. I gave a detailed report in the presence of a police inspector, with an englsih speaking translator present.
I needed a copy of the police report later for insurance reasons, but of course it was written in Latvian. When I had it translated, "Official Police Report" said that while drinking in the bar - I either simply dropped my wallet or it was pick-pocketed. Despite my detailed report - no record of the physical assault made it into the police records.
Therefore Riga STILL didn't have any violent crime - only an occasional pick-pocket. That was how Latvia protects its tourism industry - it doesn't severely PUNISH it offenders - it just DENIES it HAS any offenders.
I had major bruises on my ribs and my arm (I shielded my head with my arm while being kicked in the head). Possibly two broken fingers - though I never sought medical treatment. I managed to keep all of my teeth and the swelling in my face went away within a day. I was out with a lady the next night!
THAT was how Latvia protects its tourism industry.
I understand man1970 I was in the same situation and have a small son as well when I was on my way there I was like what am I doing....I must be mad I had been dating alot at home and had no problems meeting ladies but lol these Fsu ladies really fascinate me and to be honest that holiday was one of the best I ever had so no regrets I had got a cheap flight for 50 euros and the train journey was cheap too over all a very cheap holiday.Even when I was coming to customs loads of scenarios ran through my mind as I said to you before cautious is good dont let it cripple you though.
Hey,
I've travelled to Latvia 3 times with no problem whatsoever, I've likewise travelled to Sweden 3 times with no problem likewise.
Jetmba was unlucky, he got in to a difficult situation that could happen in one's own neighbourhood.
But, when last in Latvia, in a nightclub, a pimp was harrassing me and it merely took a word in the direction of the 'brick shithouse' security manager for that individual to be put in his place, on my way out I dropped 'my friend' Mr Shithouse an LVL5 handshake and that's it, I'm looked after forever in that nightclub, would an LVL5 equivalent handshake work the same in Sweden? NO WAY!
P.S. Greetings from Antalya, Turkey where I am at the moment, weather beautiful, Russians everywhere, unfortunately I'm already married and merely here on business :)
