I will post less as time goes by and eventually disappear of into the sunset with my reliable and trusted Australian woman...we both had bad experiences with our last marriages, its taken me 7 years to remarry and my partner 10 years..there is no blind headlong rush into marriage, the kind of situation you get on the time limits of getting married on a fiance visa.
The very difficult logistics of spending sufficient time with a FSU or foreign MOB to get to know her before being forced to marry her or she's out on the fiance visa, greatly increases the chance of marrying the wrong person...hence so many foreign MOB don't work out and its dead in 2 years if you are lucky!
I would advise my fellow Aussie brothers not to do foreign MOBs...risk of failure/disaster too high, I would give it only 20% chance of success and long lasting happiness..most will end up bitterly disappointed..think and analyse this before you embark on this, sure give it a go if you like but don't expect good results.
I don't think "what if?" Danny, I got something special that loves me and accepts me for who I am, understands me with no communication barriers or problems and is realistic and obtainable and she is 32 years old and does not treat me like shit and never will!
Nasfan, I wish you a long and happy marriage with your Ukrainian wife who I am sure loves you ( for a few it will work, you appear to be in the lucky few )..I don't wish divorce on anyone..not even my worst enemy..look after your woman and don't loose her, act if your marriage becomes "sick" and fix it before its too late...marriage is a 24/7 job..you constantly have to wok on it!
I have been busy planning. I found the celebrant, we will meet her this Saturday and put in the paperwork "notice of intiention to marry" as in Australia you must register at least 32 days before your planned date of marriage of your intention to marry..we are doing it way in advance.
We both discussed the wedding songs/music we want and agreed on it, the reception hall has been booked ( you have to do this way in advance to gaurantee you will get the hall on the day you want and its reserved for us ).
I am having my wedding ring made, 9 carat gold content ( not plated ) so its hard wearing and durable with 8 single point diamonds in it in 2 bands, gents ring, retail valuation of $1100 AUD.
Her mum is buying her a whole new wedding outfit, we are not marrying in a white traditional wedding dress, it will be far more modern.
Lots happenning and it still 7 months away, my girl believes in planning and organising in advance, there are lots of expenses along the way..getting married is not cheap, we have a guest list for the wedding/reception and its already up to 50 heads..no doubt more will be added! ( her family and relatives is big..I don't have many on my side ).
Marriage is serious..don't rush into it..you must really get to know the girl and that takes a lot of time...the problem with foreign girl marriages is that most people don't have the time to travel and spend enough time, I mean like 2 to 3 months continous with a girl to know her enough to make the step to a fiance visa )..this is because of work and money constraints ( most people can't get 3 months off work unless you got long service leave and this takes at least 10 to 15 years to accrue for one lot of 13 weeks in Australia, most people will only get 2 goes of long service leave and for that you have to remain 25 years in the employ of one company, long service leave is not portable between employers here ).
Most companies here give you 4 weeks a year annual leave and you got to take it each year, they won't let it accrue into the next year, so you are left with really only option of taking unpaid leave if no long service available to spend 2 or 3 months with a foreign girl in her country and most employers will not be prepared to give you the time off..you are employed in there service and they require your services and can't afford to be without you in most cases or they will find someone else who can take your job and you will be out the door..unemployed and if you are unemployed, you don't qualify here to sponsor a foreign bride on a fiance visa!
The logistics of this are impossible and then you have unpredictable and sometimes fruit cake foreign girls that waste your time and money..so much variables and difficulties come into play here..you need a really deep wallet, lots of money in the bank and can afford to not work to do this..first division tattslotto winners need only apply to do this foreign MOB business in Australia!
Very good read guys
I'm the original poster, and agree with you all that I was a total moron. In fact very early in the 'relationship' I accused 'her' of being a scammer and she went ballistic saying that she would never forgive me etc. etc. For days I racked my brains trying to fathom whether she was a scammer or not. She was damned good at it anyway. But I have lived to tell a tale, and will never get hooked like that again. Perhaps I will form an organiation named 'The psychological warfare division of the brotherhood to destroy all women'.
