While sms works fine most of the time there are still times it does not. This week I have been receiving sms messages many hours after they are sent. If you send from kyivstar on the internet as Martin said in another post you can check to see if the message was delivered. It has a check status option. The first phase will tell you it was accepted and enqued, the second status is sent, the third is message delivered to recipient or timed out message failed. It is also much easier to type the message from a computer and with a cell phone you only have the status sent but not whether it was delivered or not. You need to check with your carrier to see what sms options you have, mine sms to ukraine is the same cost as sms locally but Alltel states they do not guarantee delivery to the fsu.
Don't you have an option in your phone that tells you if an SMS was delivered?
I always know whether my SMS messages to FSU ladies get delivered the moment they are delivered. My phone has an option to send SMS messages with a Delivery Receipt. Most new cell phones have that now. If your phone has it, you can also know when your SMS was delivered to the phone of the recipient (like Oz said about the Internet).
Kyivstar really sucks today also. My wife usually smses me before she goes to bed and I call her to wish a good night and talk for a few minutes. At 5 csd time I got such a message and called (1 AM there) to reach a very sweet voice that I could tell had been asleep for several hours. At 7 this evening (3 AM there) I got another message asking me to call and I woke the poor lady again to find that message had been sent this morning csd time. She sounded very pleasant but I am sure it took effort because she does not normally wake easy nor is she normally very happy about waking.
Land of Oz, I use Verizon Wireless (which is now same as AllTel) and my Ukrainian girlfriend uses I think B-line. Sometimes the sms goes thru right away and recently it's been taking several hours to get through.
I think Alltel gives the time I receive it. It is always in CDT time on USA date and for the most part they come soon after she sends them but once before and this last week they have come much later than she sent them. I got a letter from Alltel yesterday (my phone company) that they were making equipment changes and I would need to dial a number to reset my phone after tomorrow so it is most likely they are the culprit. Sometimes I get voicemail days after it is left but it does have the date and time it is left.
