OK S-Martin; a little off topic I stand corrected.
Those airlines fly via Dubai, Zurich etc. Most flights to Bankok from the west do go via Dubai or the others mentioned.
I didn’t go beyond the first page in my googling…damn should have known better.
The fact remains the prices are much lower than the 3000 euro quoted by the Cliffto.
Anyway back on topic: I don’t think there is any way to send money abroad without taking a hit. As far as I know if you send from your bank account to the recipients bank account by electronic transfer you pay a flat fee. This is for British banks anyway.
You might want to ask your own bank about this. This means you need get the girls bank details. If she gives you this you get the bank where she has her account (the town) and her full name…just in case you’re still not completely sure.
The Baron555 route sounds good if it means you can get personal details.
I’d be looking for as much information as I can on her considering the amount involved here.
I really hope you haven’t just met her online.
Another way is to buy one of these pay as you go debit cards, send it to her, make sure that she has received it, before putting some money on to it but all these various methods add up the costs. I previously transferred monies bank account to bank account but the Ukrainian bank took 0.5% for the privilige aside from what it cost me to send and it's not normal for these people to have bank accounts.
Kirkland, it stands to reason that if one is flying, let us say, Austrian Airlines then they are going via Vienna, Lufthansa then probably Frankfurt or Munich, MALEV then Budapest, Turkish Airlines then Istanbul etc. etc. etc.
kirkland, never have i said that i'm buying tickets !
i have NOT just met online .
Please don't make this money sending a big issue.
I'm more interested to find a person that has married in thailand.
If i can and how long until we can do a spouse visa after marriage.
cliffy,
Before my first trip I set up an individual bank account with funds that would sustain a couple weeks if needed with emergency $$$. And there were plenty of ATM machines that worked. I had arranged through my bank to have an additional bank card to give to RW on second visit. She laughed at me when I asked the availability of ATM machines in her region. As if I should have known. This is a simplistic way to allow her to have access to funds and to not lose your shirt in the process. Although she did not want to account for the money spent, it is an alternative to sending $$$. And as long as the account is kept to a limited amount it should not be too much of a risk to get ripped off by unreliable or unscrupulous ATM machines. And you can deposit a couple hundy in it when needed. Figure you can stand to lose a few hundred by thieves. If you didn't have the funds, you shouldn't be in this. WHAT? A brand new $400 camera lost the first time. Chalk it up to experience/stupidity on my part. But hell, I have lost/spent $$$$ on more foolish endeavours throughout my life. So the idea of risking a couple hundred dollars is not alien to me. Think of a weekend with any lady anywhere. $$$$$ Of course that is assuming we are qualified to afford a true weekend with a deserving woman. If this is something you are considering for the rest of your life, then the risk of losing money is not even considered - of course with some descretion. Assuming this is someone you truly trust, then it is a no brainer. And if you do happen to be taken - then think of it as going to a theme park for a week and riding the same roller coaster 750 times. I would not send such a large amount of legal tender to anyone on the hope that she will meet me in Thailand or at Joe's Bar and Grill for that matter. But I do not know the true circumstances with your relationship. Have you spent time with her? Is she of above average intelligence? She would know -- ask her. If you are seasoned as you claim, then I question why you would even ask such a question. Your question of the Russian Embassy recognizing a marriage should bear no relevance if you intend to bring your blushing bride down under. The question is if the Australian authorities will recognize it. Perhaps I do not understand. This is all fairly new to me as well. But in the short time I have been working on it, I know almost all there is to know about importing a Russian lady into the US of A. A daunting task to say the least. But well worth it as far as I can tell.
What is the purpose of the $3K? Excuse me, euros. Take a step back and think for a moment.
I wouldn't bother to try to help him the irritable s0d that he is, I tried to help him and he made an attack upon me, Kirkland, it seems, genuinely misunderstood the purpose of the money as he's been flamed, so it'll probably be you next!
I would never send money to anyone that I already haven't met and become engage to.
YOU CAN on your own purchase tickets for example and then send her the electronic ticket. Or if this is the first time, have her buy the tickets and then reimburse her when you do meet.
Having a woman ask to buy you a ticket so you can meet for the first time is a well known scam.
Of course we don't know and maybe don't need to know your intentions.
OK, I caught that. I can not give any info about Aussie Immigration but to steer you to the VisaJourney.com forum. Look down lower on the main page for the Regional forums and there is an Australian forum, concerning AW and AMs who are immigrating to the US. I am sure they can answer some of your questions.
I don't know anyone who has been "officially" married in Thailand, but I do know some couples that have had a registry wedding in Australia, before leaving, and then a more formal ceremony in Thailand (but the actual marriage was in Australia).
That would be an idea, as I have just discovered that when dealing with Immigration a wedding in Australia is the simplest solution :)
