The takbir is "Allahu Akbar". The -u ending (credit here to wikipedia, I don't know nothin' about the language) is for the nominative case. In Arabic, normal speech leaves out the case endings, so perhaps this is why I see Allah as the word for God. But the case endings are included for formal religious use. If "they" hate morons, then we regulars in the forum had better watch our backs. The Muslims I have met, worked with, and befriended were, on average, rather more gentlemanly and tolerant than I experience my countrymen (here in the USA) to be. The one who was very religiously observant* had an annoying tendency to mix up his religion with his politics ... exactly like my bible-thumping evangelical, Lutheran, and Mormon friends. God save us from those who have found the 'one true religion' -- whichever religion that happens to be. The only Muslim I have met who impressed me as bigoted was a Ukrainian (a convert I assume, it was not my impression that he came from a Muslim family), who seemed to blame Jews for all of the problems of the Middle East.
