You guys are really arguing over nothing important. Here in the US, visa petitions are never denied based on what agency you used. And again only speaking for the US, their IMBRA requirements are disclosed when the petitioner fills out the I-129f firm. There is where you disclose how many children you fathered, how many previous marriages you had or the felonious or abuse crimes you committed . If you answered correctly you can be assured the woman will be asked about her knowledge of the same at her interview. She would get denied the vis if she didn't know about any of this. And USCIS will find out about any of your past as they have full access to all your part including criminL judgements where the records were sealed or even expunged.
So don't worry about the type of agency or if they require this info upfront.
USCIS will take care of it later during the visa process.
Please do not confuse yourself, unlike another idiot who shall remain nameless, between 'argue' and 'discuss', an argument is a discussion, of opposing views, that becomes heated, neither Durak or myself have this opposed view, he indicated his disapproval of this 'marriage broker' term also, and most certainly neither of us has 'heated' this discussion, I'm merely discussing it with him further so I may learn from this discussion, isn't that what life is supposed to be about, learning?
Durak,
I understand better now, thank you, and either magazinewriter is only concentrating on the lesser number of online sites that meet the 'IMB' criteria or he's mistaken believing that such sites (IMB's) are the only way to go and isn't aware of other paths to take such as online, non IMB criteria, dating sites.
Magazine Writer started this thread to ask a simple question. Instead of not answering because he does not want to or don't know, Ivor decided to attack the words he used. He didn't know that magazine writer was correct in using the word(s). My post was simply to clarify that.
My post was not to embarrass, ridicule or start an argument with Ivor. Thank you, Mr. Durak for using the words to make him understand. Apparently, my post was not enough.
Please do not confuse yourself, unlike another idiot who shall remain nameless, nudge nudge, wink wink, between 'attack' and 'question', to attack is to act aggressively, fiercly, forcibly etc, to 'question' speaks for itself :)
Poor use of verb by me but anyway the content of my posting is right on.
The OP did not ask a simple question, he asked for the entire checklist of things to to and not to do in finding a foreign bride.
This stuff is plastered all over these forums, other forums and many of the sites. He/she should do their own homework.
No offence taken, whilst arranged marriages may take place between certain cultures/religions/nationalities it took me by some shock that USA authorities, by definition, consider marriages between USA and FSU nationals to be arranged by brokers ..... I think that any of us of sound mind has to consider such suggestion to be utter bullshit!
How dare the US government call those marriages to be arranged by brokers and shock Ivor!!!
Come on, Barron. You can go to each one of these threads and say the same thing: Go to other forums. Do your homework. Or, you can answer them. All I said is be nice. I guess you don't need to be if you don't want to.
Ivor that is just not true. EM, who I used and listed as a IMB in my visa petition form, is actually not really a IMB as seen by US Immigration. Many guys do not list it on their petitions and have no problems being approved. Yes the US has this IMBRA disclosure requirements, which can drag out the process, but those were enacted after some high profile sad stories came to light in the 90s of women coming to a horrible situation or worse here.
Actually there are very few true IMB agencies, as defined, except maybe for some Indian or SE regions.
But US Immigration's, government's, choice of the term 'Marriage Broker' is in total contradiction of the English language.
A 'broker' is a person or organisation who buys and/or sells a product or products, imagination declaring to US immigration that you bought your wife in exchange for a fee to a broker (middle man), do you reckon they'd grant you a K-1? :)
These agencies and/or online sites may be brokering all sorts of products up to, and including, introduction, matchmaking services or similar but can you name just one, by definition of the English language, agency or online site that is selling you a marriage, wife included in the fee paid?
IVOR!!! The English/American language? Did you get a chance to read the obama care document? Do not confuse American law with literal English. In the famous words of bill clinton (small case for sure - can't make the font smaller for effect here), "It depends on what the meaning of 'is' is." Are you now just starting to realize what a joke American law and politics are? Or have you just been civil to us this whole time? ;)
Merry New Year!
American politics a joke? I have never suggested George W. Bush is/was a bumbling jackass ..... honestly I haven't :)
Try setting up a website whereas you are selling FSU women to US citizens for marriage ..... would it be hours, days or weeks before the Feds would lock you up and throw away the key? :)
1 : one who acts as an intermediary: as
a : an agent who arranges marriages
b : an agent who negotiates contracts of purchase and sale (as of real estate, commodities, or securities)
2 : "power broker"
3 : one who sells or distributes something <an information broker>
This is from the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a certain edition of which is the traditional reference in US law courts. Note that the primary definition, is that of intermediary. One business usage is "customs broker." This is not an agent who sells "customs," but rather one who sells the service of dealing with customs clearance for import/export.
Meaning no disrespect to Baron, by my reading of the statute, elenasmodels is clearly an IMB (within the meaning of the statute), because the men pay fees and the women don't. This would be true even if they didn't offer their special matchmaking service, which comes much closer to the plain-English meaning of "marriage broker."
To give two examples, elenasmodels and kievconnections go the the fuss and bother of complying with IMBRA. Perhaps this is because they determined that they are IMBs under our annoying law.
the USA asks a question: How did you meet? Depending on how you answer this question determines the applicable course of action determined by said officials. Basically a few more blocks to fill out on the application and that's it. It is painless. But depending on the person, if you wish to answer truthfully or not, it could be another hurdle for the 'sponser' of a K-1 visa. All things being equal it is no big deal. This is getting blown way out of proportion.
Drunk that is why I did list EM as the IMB agency. But many have not and have had no problem being approved. All this worry and talk is really unecessary.
