I am also addicted to the mythical woman. If not for the advent of the internet,I might just be complacently satisfied with a Nebraskan farmer`s daughter. But also,Annika,people have misconceptions about all people. You do not have to look any further than this forum to see that people are ignorant about English/AMerican/Russian culture and society. And it is really about individuals,and has always been. The women you describe very much belong to any culture-anywhere in the world.Forgiveness is a virtue not owned by all people,and many will dissolve relationships based on squabbling silliness. The term "family oriented" means to me that a person puts many of their own self interests behind and makes decisions which strengthen and harmonize family. This is love--universally. Caring for others and not being a "gimme,gimme,gimme" person who demands "more,more,more". As people experience the triumphs and failures of a relationship,certain behaviors become unacceptable ( also an individual choice). These are lessons which strengthen our relationship skills. For me-number one unacceptable quality is covetousness,and this applies to all people,so I am certain this restricts my options in women somewhat. And so be it. What Spirit says is very true. I am hoping that I am moving towards that goal. Trouble is that there is only one way to find out. Plunge. So I keep trying and moving forward. I have hopes for the future and no longer believe that this will end smoothly and quickly. I can see how somebody would spend several years constantly visiting FSU until it finally came together. I think I had beginers luck and then a disaster. It was a sad experience but I do not regret it. And as an aside I have made several women friends from FSU who I talk to all the time. No matter though I still believe that it is much easier to find a nice woman to get married to for the rest of your life from FSU than America. It just seems at first that all you have to do is reach out but as time goes by it becomes apparent that there are all kinds of problems that can trip you up. Language and culture just happen to be the most obvious along with distance. It is very true that they are not very forgiving but then I can be like that also. I asked why lots of men havent luck in such situations. She said men havent so good intution as women have and its easier for a woman to be what man want her to be. And the terrible way she treated me--I always thought,"She will come around,even if she only loves me 2 days out of the week--my care and attention will bring her around to the big connection". Also a fairy tale. 2 people usually have 2 different levels of feeling. In this case,my level of feeling for her was greater than her level of feeling for me. This is why we practice deference. You have no choice but to defer to the person with the lesser feelings. You simply cannot make them love you any more than what they can,or are able to. So,you take what little love is offered,even if it is only a morsel,and hang on to it for dear life-knowing the relations may never be better than what it already is. It is straight out of a victorian romance novel. Being (despite what anybody might think of me here) a rather romantic, giving person I have been used financially and more importantly emotionally so many times in my life that I cannot recall. Although my marriage was not perfect it was comfortable and a relief to be settled. Now I find myself in the maelstrom again. I am willing to take a chance and again risk everything. My relationship and recent engagement is on track and after some misunderstandings to do with cross cultural expectations and why all is ok. I just wish the agency had stepped in and given me an explanation of a couple of thisngs and that I hadn't had to go floundering off until I stumbled into the answers myself. It would have solved a lot of anxiety on both sides. So I move forward with my relationship and I hope for the best. I will just try to not make anymore mstakes and I am sincerely hoping she will reach out and make cultuarl allowances just as I have done. Deep down I think that everything is Ok. One thing I truly believe is that when a Ukrainian woman makes her mind up and commits it is total. She is in there shulder to shoulder with you in every sense. I also believe whole heartedly in this. I hope you do not have to worry yourself too much about making mistakes. That is what we do--make mistakes,and hopefully small ones. I know too well the feeling of "walking on eggshells" to remain in a woman`s favor. One used to make me repeat her questions word for word to assure herself that I was listening to her intently. The thing about an agency is that they do not relate what they really know about a woman. They do not read into her intentions whether she is working as a letter writer or she is a professional dater. I know i found my girl in russia after roaming around for 3 days ( actually all of a sudden you find you have that many girls you just dont know what to do with em all ). I get my girl hear with that visa i cant say ive had any earthshattering probs with it . Matter of fact 1 chap i know lives 4 ks from me his girl hear right now with him -same deal tourist visa --its not hard the 48r --he had no worries -applied on a wednesday approoved 8 days later . Tourist visa mate --could you imagine how many empty planes there would be roaming the world if the humble tourist visa was hard ! we'd have a lotu broke airlines ay. The fiance visa yes its got a lot of criteria attached to it -i work with govvy and i looked into it for the mate here in perth . its certainly not impossible but its got more pages than a novel and it all has to be correct there are costs involved and it does mount up .
