Well Moyarishka, i will be staying with her at her flat from January 10 to the 20th and we Skype every night for at least an hour.Dont you feel this is a good beginning ?
The region around Yalta is similar to Northern California. It is an hour's drive from Simferopol the capital of Crimea. There are many points of interest along the way. Palaces, botanial garden,Sparrows Nest, caves and coastal communities. There are buses and excurtion trips in the region, but I woud suggest renting an automobile in Simferopol. Like California, the points of interest are spread out and you will find that the freedom of travel in your own auto will allow you to see much more in a short time, especially if your lady knows the points of interest. The highway from Simferopol to Yalta is a good one. If you have no interest in making the sightseeing stops, then the bus will take you into Yalta bus station and you can ride the local transit bus to the harbor. My favorite hotel in Yalta is Oreanda. A buffet breakfast and dinner. It is on the boardwalk in Yalta.
Moyarishka: Why don't I marry her if everything is so perfect?
Because I am 55 and she is 21. That is the ONLY thing wrong with our relationship. It seems absolutely insurmountable - but it is becoming less so, with each day.
Thanks Rodan, good tips! being she owns a home in Simferopol and Yalta i will rent a car to catch all points of interest with her.I am sure she knows the region quite well as she said. She recently sold her Kompressor.
Yalta is one of the best places on earth with all the charm of the French Riviera but only more beautiful.
There are so many things to see and do in Yalta and Crimea in general that you can never be bored unless you choose it.
renting a sailboat is not expensive, going to the mountains with many ancient ruins and natural features, even soviet era
submarine base are just a few things I have done there. If you are looking for a romantic place to take a girl and stay
in Ukraine? this is the place.
Rick,jet
Cant remember about power chords outlets for keeping my pc charged over there in Ukraine . Being from the states do i need an adapter ? Also what is January temperature in Yalta usually ?
Thanks Men
If she won´t skype with you or talk live, then don´t bother, she is either a fat ugly bitch with photos on the site that are 20 years old or she´s a scammer.
actually Sunvolt, i think this area along the black sea is just divine, best part of ukraine.
the gondola or tramway above yalta really shows off how beautiful this place is, only a serious climber would have seen such views.
i didnt care for the Tartars up top there how they treated animals,,, that to me was the most depressing part but they are only trying to live i guess.
some of the roads there are like in the english country side, rock walls and narrow.
the sub base Rick speaks of before Yalta is bazaar 'underground' in the little hardour (Ballaklava)which has ancient old forts or watch towers looking over the water,,, lots of history.
you lucky bugger, i'm feeling rather jealous.
i never checked the place out passed Yalta, i think i will one day,,,, i know you will enjoy this area,,, Simferopol is ok, just another Ukraine city really.
januuary is its coldest,, under 10degrees but as Rick said,, its very romantic so be very careful.
two pin round plugs..
I googled the weather for Yalta, right now it is like 35 degrees probably much colder in January.I assume i can buy an adapter in Ukraine or Radio Shack in states. Two pin round plug ? Thanks kiwi, moya
Sunvolt,,, check out Target stores if you have one nearby. They have an excellent assortment of travel gear, luggage, adaptors, personal items.
Moya is giving the temperature in Celsius ( C ) not (F) !
It has been warmer over in Ukraine than where I live on every trip, with only a few days as exceptions! However, I heard the Black Sea froze over last year, and that seldom happens.
There are actually two kinds of plugs with two round pins -- the Europlug (what you will need) has slightly smaller pins than the other kind.
These days, the great majority of power supplies for electronics will take any mains voltage (50/60 Hz, 110-220V), so you would only need a simple plug adapter, not a clunky voltage adapter -- but check the fine print on your gadgets, if you want to be sure.
Adapters can indeed be found at Radio Shack, and also next the luggage in shops like WalMart and Target. Also, in Russian and Ukrainian cities, such adapters are cheap and easy to find -- especially in the little kiosk-type booths selling batteries and the like, that abound in underground crosswalks and other high-foot-traffic places.
Usually, winter temps in Ukraine are similar to where I live (New York metro area), but as lonely noted, last year winter was much colder than the several winters before that.
Thanks Durak, She`s planning on making me a big dinner after this long flight and putting me in a hot tub at her home to relax then tucking me in to bed to recooperate :)))))))) Awww now true Ukrainian hospitality !!!!!!!! Regards
I think I may go to Ukraine in a couple years to mix things up. I'll be going to Ireland for the next few trips to visit my friends there and make back pack trips to Africa, but man it would be nice for some new scenery. My ex use to tell me how Kiev to this day is her favorite city and always wanted to see it myself.
Durak,,, you have one of those converters too?? I bought mine in 2009 because the razor I used was an old corded model. The best razor I ever had, and I think the cheapest too.
In the first city of my 2009 trip (Tver) I had to relocate to a hotel, and it had a “110V” label on the bathroom outlet. It was during the 2nd or 3rd shave that it quit! It was an old razor,,,, but the sound was a little off,,, it didn’t smoke or anything,, it just died.
I always bring a spare along, a little AA battery travel razor.
One nice thing about that converter, is that it came as part of a kit! I have the adaptors for most of the major countries,,, including one that allows me to charge my Ukrainian Life phone at home here.
