I am doing my best to convince Inna just what a race of gentlemen we are in the UK,and LOSING.
Thank god for the Ukranian sense of humour!!!
I've received a delivery of goodies today from Amazon.co.uk to add to my growing collection of Russian learning materials and will give an evaluation of each as I use them:
1) PDQ Russian Quick Language Course (Linguaphone) 4 Audio CDs £20.97
- inexpensive audio course with reference book. 2 units per CD. I've already done the first two units today (~1hr each) and it's a good simple introduction to meeting, taxis, hotels, restaurant. I imagine that repetitive use will make this second nature in little time.
2) "Easy Russian Phrase Book" (690 phrases, Dover Pulications) $2.00
- unread but first glance says it will do the job nicely
3) "Dictionary of Russian->English Slang & Colloquial expressions" (Barron's) $14.95
- unread but is Russian to English only :( There goes my quick lookup of naughty words.
4) The Russian Language Lab (PC Tutorial pack) £10.00
- barely used yet
5) "Oxford Russian<->English Dictionary" (45,000 entries) $5.99
- unused but looks comprehensive enough on first glance
6) "Collins Russian<->English Talking dictionary" (PC) £9.99
- easy to use with complimentary pronunciation for every word
7) "Collins Gem Russian<->English dictionary" (32,000 references) £2.00
- easy to use and pocket size
I've tried to order some Pimsleur material from the US but keep getting outbidded at ebay in the dying seconds. :)

Using pictures, it shows items common to that environment. For example, in the bathroom you see the words for bathtub, sink, towel, toothbrush, etc.
The only drawback is that there's no stress markings.
