The flight was departing LHR 2015 that evening, I booked it at 1204 that afternoon! But the majority book their flights quite a period in advance and that's why many a guy has back-up plans (ladies) in the event that the planned lady falls through, I used to have the attitude that I was taking a holiday anyway so if advance plans fell through then I'd meet somebody whilst I was there. Id rather pay Delta and they will book me more than 6 months in advance,I can choose the very front seat and anytime I want to change they will move the earth to accommodate me, not to mention I get 2 70LBS bags included FREE. Airline loyalty has its perks. However, I was impressed by UIA business class tickets only being 2200. Thats a great price. MartinPC Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 4/25/2015 1:29:55 AM   KLM and their codeshare partners, Northwest in particular, offer good connections from multiple points in USA via AMS and between AMS and KBP KLM codeshare with Ukraine International so there were around three services per day so good connection times. At a couple of times during my career I found myself effectively working for KLM, during a summer detachment with KLM subsidiary Transavia during 1998 I completed KLM's cabin emergency training, smoke filled cabin with a smoke hood on, emergency evacuation, jumping down the slide and when I came to putting the fire out it was realised that most of the fire extinguishers were empty and by the time I found one that worked the fire had become a raging inferno. I can choose AF operated flights through Delta and still get my miles and other perks. The trick is knowing who the actual operator is on codeshare flights many AF and Delta flights from AMS and CDG are actually KLM or UIA operated and are the most crowded seat configurations on older planes. It may be fine for teens or 20 somethings to be treated like cattle but us a bit older people enjoy priority boarding and being able to stretch our legs out completely in a nice wide seat and not fight for an overhead bin or get run over getting off the plane. I think Im good paying more to fly. MartinPC Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 4/25/2015 10:15:44 PM   Rick, Air France are crap and Paris CDG is one of the most dreaded airports in Europe, admittedly KLM are lacking but transitting thru AMS Schiphol is a dream compared to many airports, it's all in one terminal. Most crowded ... Frog Air are 10 seats across in economy the same as KLM are on B777-300's so please don't try to tell me they are any better seat widths/pitches. One Sunday I was travelling on business, flying KLM, BHX/AMS/ARN for a day's work in VST on the Monday before travelling back on the Tuesday morning ARN/AMS/BHX then some 2 hours in BHX before flying BHX/CDG with Air France. On the Sunday I got chatting with a steward pre departure, letting him know that I was aviation personnel our chat continued and it transpired that he was operating my flight ARN/AMS 2 days later. Well as they did the food and drinks service on that Tuesday morning flight I asked of the stewardess if I could possibly have a 2nd (250ml) beer, KLM being tighter that duck's asses denied on the grounds that I may get drunk (on 2 x 250ml beers). No sooner had she denied me a beer than my friendly steward arrived with a shopping bag full of goodies for me, there must have been a dozen beers, champagne, roasted walnuts from business class etc., other passengers around me were laughing and the rest of my travels to BHX went fine :) Arriving at the AF/KLM check-in desk in BHX for my flight to CDG, by now I had one of those smiles on my face, I was joking with the check-in girl that KLM had been trying to get me drunk showing her what remained of my shopping bag of goodies, then she made the mistake of asking me "Has anyone given you anything to carry?" and when I replied "Yes, the KLM crew" she just burst out laughing and checked me in. I dislike AMS double screening and what the hell does "mind your step" mean??? God forbid you accidentally throw an aluminum can in the trash. Its like you committed a felony. the "free wifi" isnt actually free MartinPC Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 4/28/2015 9:20:02 PM   "mind your step" means to be careful not to fall ass over elbow and is normally signed where there is a change in the floor level, or one is stepping from one floor surface to another floor service. It's kinda like asking what does a "wet floor" sign mean, who of us cares that a floor is wet unless we're about to walk across it!
