i bought an engagement ring for my gal! she lives in US and i am in ukraine! i really want to send da ring to her but i dont know how!! i have tried DHL,EMS TNT but all in vain :) please help me,what i should for the ring to reach her in US!!PLEASE!
But if I had to answer your question I would invite my American lady to meet me in Ukraine. I would then deliver said ring to her personally on bended knee. And then have her transport the ring back to the US securely with her finger through it.
beemer blin! shto za plakhoy slov? jetmba thanx for your advice but am still not satisfied! am so mad!!!! i need to send the ring to her as soon as possible! she just cant come now coz she is kinda busy! and i want the ring to reach her before her birthday! wtf! Ukraine should develop means of transport!!
You are guessing! Yet many would think so. We are on the same path traleing in the opposite direction.
You have a decision to make if you must send the ring to your girl for her birthday. She will have to come to meet you or meet you on neutral ground such as Dominican Republic. Or you will have to rely on a proxy, either the Post or an agent. It will be a chance as it travels across borders, but it can be reliably sent in the Post without customs intervention. Maybe sending the ring is not such a risk,,,,,, in comparison to doing nothing.
I beg to differ, do not send the ring in the mail! In my experience the post office in former FSU countries regularly "inspect" packages and will “confiscate” certain contents they see fit to remove. They are low life criminals stealing from the mail system... a common practice to boost their meager salaries. I f you do send it in the mail perhaps you could hide it secretly in another item to excape this inspection (stealing) proceess.
A friend in Poltova told me its a REQUIREMENT when shipping a parcel from Ukraine to actually take the open box to the Post Office and allow it to be inspected before sealing it. My friend is actually originally from Portugal and found the practice as absurd as I do, of course.
But I have sent things to Ukraine concealed in other things. I sent a ring once concealed in a boz og granola bars. My lady had a particular fondness for these bars so I included a small cardboard package from the grocey store. I carefully lifted the cardboard flaps on the bottom (careful not to show any creases) slipped the ring in, and then carefully reglued.
I once had some trouble with customs when I brought some ordinary kasha (buckwheat) back from Ukraine and my lady knew this - so she sent me some backwheat concealed in a box to make it look like it contained a coffee cup. Not sure if that was really necessary but she did it successfully.
Please check the date stamp. That post was written in 2004 and unfortunately GLTallToad hasn't written here in about six years. It regretable too as the guys you will find here in this thread are some of the oldtimers I used to write to and from way back in 2004.
TimH who writes here in this thread was a great guy I visted in London back then on my way to Riga Latvia.
Other current members who wrote back then include nasfan and Martin - but I must admit their contributions were different than they have been as of late. If I'm not mistaken nasfan was in an active search at the time, and found his bride while on this forum. While martin was looking as well.
Other current (sometimes) writers from back then (other than myslef) include gladiator and thunder.
