Ok Ben,
To be honest I've only ever applied for a visa as a UK national and not as an alien so you may be right but it's all hyperthetical depending upon which passport(s) he may hold.
Not sure where tara is from but don't forget UK and Russia are at odds with each other at the moment, they are launching their bombers in our direction every day or so, the Norwegian Air Force F15's out of Bodo are often intercepting them and deterring them from proceeding but some do proceed and our lot are then intercepting them so perhaps our government might not be too lax with Russian visa applications for the time being, no doubt the Russians are treating UK visa applications likewise.

Hey. Can anyone give me a link to the correct form to use for applying for the 2 year extention to a Fiancee Visa now that we are married. I keep reading on so many sites that you just apply to the Home Office for a 2 year extention but can't find details anywhere about how to get this particular extention. Any help would be much appreciated :)
Have you tried the Home Office or perhaps you might ask aussieman41, he's normally very helpful, never been to FSU, but he's an expert in all matters, burgers, chicken, airports, soup, you name it, he's got the answer for everything :)
Everyone here seems so wonderful and knowledgeable!
I am in a similar situation, I am American, and have been with my finance, who is English, for a while now. We are finally ready to make the leap of marriage, and have me move there. I am sure we can get the visa sorted as far as proof of the relationship and proof of him supporting me etc, the thing I need to figure out is how I am actually going to live in the UK!
If there are any websites I can be pointed towards or info that would be great; things like getting a UK drivers license (how easy or hard that is from a US one) also I am on medications now but if I move how can I continue to take those medications without working (health ins.) or being able to use NHS until we marry. Am I eligible for NHS and National Insurance number even if your just on a fiancé visa? can the visa give access to these things or whether you only get health care and national insurance when you are fully a spouse.
Steph,
The driving licence (not 'license' if you want to adapt to British ways :) people are 'DVLA', www.dvla.gov.uk might provide you with more info regarding this. My understanding is that one can drive for 12 months on an international licence before being required to exchange it for a UK licence.
Not sure about rights under a settlement (fiance) visa however we pay for medical prescriptions here, about GBP7 per prescription I think, thus if you need to pay the same as us then you're not exactly going to be a burden upon the social state.
Thank you Martin! I will definitely look into the DVLA site.
I just wish I could find a step by step guide somewhere on the internet that helps a person with time scale and what to do, how to do it, kinda like "how to move to England for Dummies" lol, hey maybe I should search engine that!
I am just so excited and can not wait to start my life in the UK!
Steph,
Greetings from the cold and snow, I'm in Riga, Latvia at the moment!
Nottingham Forest is a soccer club and not a very good one at that, the forest is called Sherwood Forest of Robin Hood fame.
I've never spent any time in Nottingham myself but apparently the young ladies outnumber the men, it might be nursing colleges or similar that are there but apparently there are a lot of women :)
I have never been to Latvia, but I hope to travel more once I move. The continent will be so much fun to explore!
NFFC is not the best, I agree, but the last game I was at they came back from being one man short on the pitch and a goal down at that for a final score of 2-1! They have heart where lacking skill lol. My fiance grew up supporting them (they were a better team then). At least they're third in the table of league 1 and not rock bottom lol.
I have been to Nottingham, it's a decent city, I don't have any complaints really. Don't know what to say about the loads of women lol guess it's good if you're a man!
Steph,
Unless you're engaged to a bloke it is fiancee rather than fiance :)
Notts Forest were excellent under, but only under, Brian Clough as a manager but that's about the only fame they've ever had.
I've just got out of TGI Friday's after a meal and 6 beers, what a laugh we had in there, mainly full of us 'bl00dy' foreigners.
Riga 'old town' is very cool, indeed bl00dy freezing at this time of year, but what a convenient place for me to have my company bank account :)
The weather, right at this moment, can't decide if it wants to rain or snow, I'm about to have an evening siesta before a few beers later on, should definately be snowing again by then.

Tara, I wonder if you and your boyfriend sorted it our. I am American and my boyfriend is British we are going through the hoops of paperwork to get us in the same land. The US government does not require the US Citizen to be able to support their foreign spouse, only the UK does.
check this page for answers to entering the USA as a fiancee http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html
What The US does do is require proof that you have met in person you have to apply for a fiancee (K-1) visa (again this type of visa in the US , unlike the UK, allows you to work). The K-1 visa allows you legal entry to the US for 90 days during which time you MUST marry your boyfriend. after the marriage you should apply for a provisional or temporary resident status which is granted for two years and ends if the marriage does not survive the 2 years. If the marriage lasts longer than the 2 years, you may apply for permanent resident status this status will last the reminder of your life. On this again, the US differs from the UK. if the marriage between you and your boyfriend ends, your boyfriend loses his resident rights no matter how long you've been married.
The I-129 F does not require an affidavit of support but I do believe you will have to prove this at the interview after this invitation is approved. The application is merely for the invitation, your boyfriend gets the visa in his country after cris sends the paperwork to his respective consalate.
On the contrary norangutang, You are financially responsible for your fiance when she comes to the states. Also it is at the discretion of the USCIS officer issuing the change of status whether it's two years or 10 years. If he wants he can issue a 10 year green card. Also if she divorces you in the two years she can stay in the states unless she's violated some law. Also what many don't read the fine print that you are financially liable for your fiance or spouse for 10 years even if you have divorced if she doesn't remarry. If she receieves any kind of government assistance you are liable to repay that. Unemployment, medicaid any government assistance you must pay back.
as for the I-134 it would be advisable to send it along with your I-129f also give your fiancee a notorized copy of this to take to the interview with her. It must be filed through the same service center that the I-129f is filed through so you might as well do it from the beginning. Instead of holding up your interview.
I don't know what the timelines are now but our visa application took only 111 days from beginning until she stepped foot in the States. I was going to use a big buck attorney to do this, but Jetmba of talked me out of it. It's an easy process and I have handled all the paperwork myself.
hi my fiance is from brazil i have been with him for over a year, and he now wants to come and live in england. but he wants to work. i dont want to get married untill we both have jobs over here in uk. what is the best way to go about this becasue if we get a fiance visa he will not be able to work.
any help would be great
hailes
really that is the only way? i have been told the best way to get a fiance visa is to get the visa bureau to process the application form. they said to me to pay them it will go through alot better?
