AceOfSpades Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 5/26/2004 12:49:48 AM   i'm a lawyer myself, and i'm sure as hell getting a lawyer who specializes in k-1 visas. i will not risk denial, sure i can reapply, appeal, raise hell, etc, but it's not worth the enormous amount of time. there are many stories of girls getting denied, due to suspecting fraud. if you get a lawyer, you get connections, you show you are serious, you show you are for real, (more likely than not) and some prominent law firms that specialize with this, are known in the embassys and carry enormous weight. you can spend 2 grand or more on a car, a vacation, a mortgage payment, a big screen tv, etc, engagement ring, but the love of your life is NOT worth the assurance? crashnsplash Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 5/26/2004 12:51:15 AM   Didn't notice what you asked before Tim. With your first words, you made sure everyone takes your next words with a pinch of salt :o)) Declaring you are a lawyer is a sure fire way to ensure that no-one will trust anything you say about the benefits of using one Ace ;o) But you are a very brave man to openly admit your profession, considering the posts that have gone before yours :o) "if you get a lawyer, you get connections," You also get a hefty, unnecessary bill, which is money better spent on your girl ! If you fail the first attempt and you did it yourself, it wont cost you above $500, if a lawyer fails the first time thats $2k down the pan and they will still demand payment for a failed attempt !! So in scenario one, you lose $500 and start again knowing what went wrong, or in scenario two you lose $2K and still have to start again !! I doubt you would be so happy to use the lawyer for the second attempt !! "but the love of your life is NOT worth the assurance" There is NOT a lawyer on the face of the earth that can guarantee success, so its No assurance whatsoever. I've had 4 experiences with lawers. 3 of them the lawers made out well but didn't do a damn thing for me or made it worse. The other one the lawer did well for me .....and he didn't charge me !!! I wont EVER use a lawyer for this kind of stuff, its Not necessary and simply quadruples your costs for exactly the same risk of failure !! And I dont like them onions either !! If you do decide to use a lawyer and any you talk to say they "Guarantee success", then they are ones you definately DO NOT want to use !! There is absolutely no way they can honestly guarantee anything in this matter, Oh apart from the fact that they Will charge youa heap of dosh, whatever the outcome !!!
