I think it's funny when twentysomething's call me "old". Most of my friends are much younger than I am. Mostly due to my going back to school to start a new career. I always make them eat their words in the gym and out on the field. Tech them to respect their elders and betters! LOL!!!
Today I tried something using the search engine on Fiancee. I plugged in 30 to 40 with/without children and with fluent English. The results were interesting. The willingness to take an older guy dropped right away. Sometimes the equivalent of "financially secure" popped up. Very similar to Yahoo Personals.
I tried again and lowered the stipulations. It opened right up. I don't quite know what to make of that. Still mulling it over. I guess they know what they got :) Fluent English !
Izifaddag: Don't know if you identified t recently like some of us did - but how old are you? Also - what region are you looking in? (The likelihood of accepting a man with a larger age difference - English fluent and w/o child does vary by region).
yes Jet I was #2 or #3 on page 3 of this string. My search was wide open. No region/city stipulation. Average of between 10 to 20 results. Something like that. I need to look at this again when I have more time. It is an interesting phenomena. I'm not completely sure I know what it means. I will try this on other sites too to see what happens.
You could have repeated it, izifaddag, instead of making me go find it (@$%#^&@^&@^%#)!!!
Just kidding - (I am lazy though).
But it is an interesting phenomenon to be sure.
As I mentioned I don't particularly like the fact that about 50% of the women have 45 as an upper limit. And if I write anyway (which I don't do often of course) I get back an immediate agency response telling me that the lady does not wish to correspond with me. Not sure why the arbitrary age of 45 seems so significant - but it seems to be.
I won't remind you of exactly how much over 45 I am - I'll let you go back and look it up!!!
:)))
I think Jetmba it might have something to do with life expectancy. From my understanding 60-65 would be very old for males in some of these countries I don't mean that you will be kicking on us soon but a younger woman does keep this in mind I am sure. For the record I am 36 but I must say I have not had it as an issue myself of course. I was very supprised to get letters from as young as 18 and 19. I think it would be to young for me but wow what a difference from the states. Like mentioned earlier here once you hit 35 the younger crowd in the states puts you out to pasture.
Yeah same here. I get responces from girls 17 to 19 as well. Kinda creeped me out. At 32 I'm more like a father figure than anything else to them. I know I would feel like I was babysitting. Made me wonder what are the dating norms there.
Well relax groon a lot of the young girls hit on me too, 20 to 25, and I am fifty almost,
Most of the young ones have agends but once in a while some are sincere, very hard to turn a 22 year old down that says age has no bearing. I often think of Angelic
It sureisn't hard. Common sense should tell you even though they say they have no age pref the reality is that she does she's just not being honest with herself or you. I say I don't have an age pref but in reality I do. It's just variable based on their maturity and other things. I broke my "no one under 25" rule for my now ex. The fact that she's my ex tells me breaking that rule was a mistake. But then again one of the girls I'm talking to on here is 22 so...? LOL I will learn one day to stick to the rules. :)
When I was in Odessa at the Socials (previously, and accurately described as "heaven on earth") with European Connections, it was just 15 of us guys in a room with perhaps 250 of the most beautiful women you have ever seen. Competition (among THEM) was fierce. When we talked to them thet acted all giddy as if they were talking to Brad Pitt or Richard Gere or SOME movie star. (Repeat - I had the time of MY LIFE.)
At one point I selected a tall blonde who was in the distance. I asked my translator to go and "qualify her" (to see that she was under thirty, no children, and spoke at least basic English). She did. and my translator led her back to the table I was sitting at. It was at this point that I realized that this very beautiful blonde was actually quite a bit younger than I had previously seen.
I asked her her age - she told me that she was 17 but would be turning 18 the next month. I told her that I was 45 and asked her if she really wanted to talk with me. In a very enthusiastic and giidy way she said she did. I kept the interview short becasue I really wasn't looking for one so young. But she gave me her phone number, her address, her sisters phone number (in case she was over visiting her sister) and the information that she would go out with me any time I called.
When she went back to the group of girls she had come from they all gathered and she was the center of attention as still acted as if she had just spoken to a famous celebrity.
Of course I didn't call her. I regret that sometimes. (Just sometimes).
I am 41, had lots of serious correspondance with girls in early 20@s, but decided to stick to my rules(tempted as I was) my fiance is 32 next month, a bigger age gap than is the norm in the west, but I think 1 that is realistic
Age difference has never bothered me. Growing up in Argentina it was not strange for men to marry younger women.
25 years difference was not common, but 10-15 range all the time, no problem....
All over latin america men make the following excuse for chasing young girls, lol:
"The older the wolf gets, the more tender the flesh he must chew on, because he has few teeth left and the ones he has no longer have the same bite of old"

Margaret Mead, take note of the mating ritual here.
