Neon,
That is a great price and I like the layover thing going. However I worry about traveling through Moscow and comoing back I actually don't mind staying in Franfurt overnight. I will be fresh to travel back to the states the following day and I get to take a little look at Frankfurt that night. I have been given somewhere to go by a friend at work who lived there. I think it is actually preferable. $700 round trip is amazing I wasn't able to come close to that.
You are right about the gruelling trip, but for me going over is the worst. Takes me more than a week to catch up from the jet lag. Coming home is not so bad, probably because it is always about 11 PM when I arrive in Ft Myers and I am ready to sleep. I just always hope I can stay awake for the drive to Naples. Do you know when will the new terminal be finished in Ft Myers?
The things that I think you should see in E-burg are: 1. all the old buildings on Rozy Lyuksemburg Street, 2. The HUGE statue of Lenin across from the city hall, an the Cathedral on the Blood where the Tsar's family was killed. And take her out for dinner and a pint to the Old Dublin Pub. It is an authentic Irish pub and quite popular. If you plan to spend St. Patricks Day there you will have to reserve in advance.
Now I'm trying to get this visa/invitation letter thing straightened out. Bloody expensive if you ask me. Looks like $180.The Cubans haver a bigger rip than that going but still this one isn't half bad.
So I just made an equiry with Holmes and Lolly regarding the processing of the K1 visa. $2300 flat rate. Plus another $500 for incidentals on her side and a trip to Moscow. The cost of this is climbing by the minute. I am sure that it will be worth it though. Out of curiosity I took a look at a singles site in England. Now I have to visit an optometrist, both eyeballs are messed up. I thought Yahoo Personals was bad but that was horrific.
Neon, I know what you mean. It takes me about a week too. I usually have someone pick me up because I'll probably pass out at the wheel coming home that late. The new terminal is supposed to be finished in spring '05 with about 29 gates open. When all is finished I believe it will be 63 gates with parking for 15,000.
Keep looking Izi, I got mine done for $1,500 not including her trip to Moscow. All extra I have to pay is.... dam I cant remember but I think its 160 something for application fee, $100 for medical exam and $100 to issue her the visa.
Thanks Crash, that sounds a bit more like it. H & L may be the best known but they are also the most expensive. Apparently everything has to be done in Moscow so it means also underwriting a trip to there as well as all the other expenses you mentioned. Incidentally the numbers you mentioned were pretty much what I was told. Did yours have to go through Moscow office as well? I think it is not true that everything must pass through there I just think that they have the staff there wrapped around their finger. Therefore they have a 100% success rate.
Yes Izi, mine had to go through the Moscow embassy. Let me tell you they are slower than snails at that place. Typical government workers... They remind me of the fools at the driver license bureau, they all want you to think they are doing you a favor.
I remember that feeling Izi, just wait for the feeling of when your at the gate in Russia, collecting your baggage and knowing shes not far beyond the green zone.
For me, after 4 trips to Russia and 1 to the beaches of Cyprus its all down to 13 days for visa interview and maybe 23 days until she is finally here and this whole dreaded process is over. I really can't wait for this to end..

When you sit down on the plane you will see a leather strap hanging down from the seatback in front of you. This device is put there especially for guys like you. Place the loose end in betweeen your teeth and bite down hard at take off. Eventually you will become an experienced flyer and this device will not be necessary. Also ask the stewardess for some of the special medicine they keep for nervous flyers. You might need several doses but it works quite well. I think the latin name is whisky. However being as you are going to FSU you might want to try a similar drug called 'vodka'. Don't try too much though or it will give the sensation of flying. Kind of self defeating. Just sip the medicine slowly but steadily and I guarantee an excellent result. Also it is frowned upon to touch the ass of the lady who gave you the medicine. If you find yourself tempted to do this refrain from anymore medicine for a while. Happy landings. I say happy because the other kind really suck.
Dale is a lucky guy. I just got off the phone with my lady and I just wish I could be there. QC is in St Petersburg and Dale E is in Moldova. I've still got 20 days to go. Hope I don't freeze my ass off.
Not only that - but Dale is going to MOLDOVA ....Sigh....
You know just today my fiance and I were talking - its a pipe dream probably - but if I could sing some way to be in Moldova half the time and still get my full income.
Hey with the internet...telecommuting and the skills I have.....well it IS a stretch...but a possibility I'm going to have toi thing about.
