Valentine's Day was just yesterday, it seems. Well, it's now the eve of the greatest holiday in the life of an FSU woman. International Women's Day. The so-called, "can't miss" holiday. Since the Super Bowl of FSU gift-giving holidays has just about arrived, my credit card will have to lay in rest inside my wallet. In the past two weeks, the women that I was corresponding with have gone silent. Everything was great until now. So, am I correct for letting March 8th pass me by without doing a little online shopping? For those of you who are spending money on one or more women in your correspondence stable, I wish you the best of the luck. I hope the communication with your ladies is excellent. May your small investment with this holiday bring you luck in the game of long distance love. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go back on Match.com and keep searching. LOL
I'm with you. I've been corresponding with three. One as you put it, has gone silent for about 10 days now. The second, her email is strictly superficial. No substance to them whatsoever. The third is still active and writing in substantive detail.
Anal retention is the same here and in the FSU. Women in the FSU seem to identify it quicker! If your anal retentive to women here in the states, You are surely going to be anal retentive to women in the FSU. They don't want losers and Mama's boys. And getting on a plane doesn't disqualify you from being both. So getting on a plane and spending bucks on a lady doesn't make one a veteran. When you make the trip 3-4 times to the same place then you can qualify.
DavidUSA - one small addendum to the rule about not sending money to women you haven't met - don't send a lot of gifts to them either. After all - itsn't it all very similar?
I can honestly tell you that I have NEVER sent a gift to a woman I haven't met. But then again I don't send more than a letter or two to any woman I haven't met - just to get contact information so that I can go over and meet them in PERSON.
My suggestion ealier in this thread about forgetting International Women's Day at your own peril - was aimed at guys who either have met their ladies or are about to. I was not advocating sending gifts to every woman in your considerable stable of penpals (if you HAVE a stable of penpals).
can i invent a men day sometime soon and get some of these girls to send me some gifts?
isn't it a bit old fashioned and strange that we are expected to remember some nonsense date that someone somewhere has decreed at some stage should be another day when we have to buy our acquisitive partner some form of gift?
i say that if any woman is offended by me not lashing out money for flowers on this nonsensical occasion she's probably not worth the airfare to go and see her or the time it takes to write to her.
i've had enough of stroppy and demanding women - i declare march 9th official mens day and i'm going to take the day off and lie in bed watching porn. who wants to join me? (not literally of course, that would be weird)
Who wants to join me???
What were YOU thinking? Why worry about sending a girl flowers on their holiday. I corespond with many ladies
and would not think about sending them anything other than a letter stating 'Happy International Women's Day'.
Now, if I know the girl personnaly and have met and are interested in each other, THEN it is proper to send flowers and a nice note.
AP!
In principle, I would agree with you, and even "join" you :-) However, I did some homework and understood that March 8th is REALLY a big holiday in some FSU countries, including Russia and Ukraine. I sent flowers to the girl I have started some relatively serious relationship with, as I realized that anything less would have been inappropriate.
8th of March in Russia is the day of each women...mother, sister, wife, schoolmate, friend. This is a holliday and day off for everybody!
23th of February is the Day of Army and it's like
a "Men's day". And on this Day men get congratulations and presents.
This is a tradition people learn from childhood...to feel difference between man and woman social roles
The is no such days as Mother's or Father's day in FSU.
Larvik,
nice to meet you again! If you go on like this, I will start to convince myself that you
are "attracted" by my posts :-)
Anyway, do the men in Russia spend their Day of Army as AP suggests? :-)))
well what an innaugural mens day. today i went to work as i felt my previously prescribed activites lacked a little in imagination. so i arranged a lot of client visits and convinced one of the salesman at the local porsche garage to lend me a boxster s for the day. so i spent the day haring around to clients premises ensuring that they negotiate a little harder the next time i show them my fees as a result of my new found wealth. this evening i had a large chinese takeaway and a couple of pints of kronenbourg.
tomorrow its back to the grind of normal everyday life but i currently feel refreshed and invigorated.
however i was a little disappointed not to receive a response to my many letters informing my overseas lady friends of the importance of this day in the uk. i didn't receive a single bouquet of flowers and only grudging congratulations on this special occassion.
i hope that next year this day will be recognised and celebrated a lot more. men are underrated and overlooked.
no more i say.
Larvik,
Nice of you to chime in again. Question for you, why have all girls I am writing to never
mentioned to me about 23rd of February. I would have loved to get a gift and at the least
a nice congratulations in a letter for this 'Men's' day. A got plenty of reminders of 8th
of March being a holiday for each women.....hint,hint. I did send out many congratulations
in my letters to girls. Was this not appropriate? Thanks!!
I think because the 23rd of February is a national Day of (FS)Red Army ...and you are not a part of this. :-))(lucky you)
At the same time the 8th of March is International day.
Anyway, you can ask your girls what they think about it!
Larvik,
in exercise of my royal power, I appoint you ambassador of this forum to the women's forum. We WANT our men's day!!! I would like to receive new saddlery for my war horse as a present. Maybe AP will appreciate some DVD's to complete his collection :-)))
I have been in ukraine on Women's Day, and it really is a big deal. Every man there has to give flowers to every woman in his life. The women give flowers to each other. All the offices must close by law; only the shops and restaurants remain open. The day is given over to women having parties together. The city is decorated with holiday lights, just like it was Christmas!
