You claim to think it is alright for guys to spend money on girls to just for the honor of being in their presence. It is their INTENTIONS that is the problem. When my original meeting with a girl I had been writing to for several months went bad after day 4, ** I used Anastasiaweb ** while I was still in Odessa to meet other girls while I was still there. Yes. At the last minute I emailed 5 of the prettiest girls I could find who were in Odessa on Anastasiaweb. One was able to have dinner the very next day, and I just told her to meet me at Opera House at 7pm. It happened. I wasn't very attracted to the girl, but it was pleasant conversation (with a translator for $10/hr). So I don't know who scammed you or why everyone says its a scam site still. If you can prove Anastasia originates their own letters, then prove it to me and we can sue them out of business, but since they are still here and all the other small scam sites are gone, then that speaks volumes in this day and age -- especially since they are based in the US. Anyways, only one doing that are the new ones.. like HRB.COM - hotrussianbrides... I don't like the quality of their girls so I don't use them often, but they are okay I guess. Most of the girls on there seem very insincere and want to rush through any correspondence and want to webcam you instead. Only problem is when you do the webcam with them, you will find they are chatting with 4-5 other guys at the same time, and if the girl knows no English, the agency translator has to type it. Excruciating experience actually. Especially when you thought your girl was halfway sincere when she says how interested she is with you, and you see her laugh and giggle at the screen for a while, when you didn't say anything funny but ask how her day was... obvious sign she is chatting with other guys. I personally used both Army and Anastasia. I did not encounter any of these scams you guys keep ranting about. Please give more details. Because from my personal experience both were more than legit. I wrote and met the exact girl I wrote to. Some were more than sad that I did not contact them afterwards (as per the translators words when I contacted her for info a few months after I got back). Some of the girls I met in Odessa, use Fiance.com -- I may just write to say Hi, but I don't know. Honestly? I didn't spend anything other than the price of an email and the girl showed up the next day -- I just said I'd be at opera house at 7pm -- here is my number in Odessa if you can make it. I paid $10/hr for their local agency translator. I guess a lot of guys are very mad their dates in FSU did not go well. The following is the #1 complaint I heard from the agencies when I was there: Some unattractive, uncouth loudmouth thinks he can buy a very young, pretty girl from the FSU. When that doesn't happen, the guy resorts to accusing the website, the agency and girl of running a scam. I seen it first hand, I seen some real dorks dating some real hot girls that I saw go out with a nicer looking guy the day before. Happens all over the place. You must remember, lots of guys go to Odessa and all the other major FSU cities every week. Lots more guys write and never come. A girl is going to be impressed that she doesn't have to go through weeks and many months of correspondence hoping a guy shows up (if he ever does) if you are already there and write them -- it will excite them a lot about you -- if you have attractive photos and a sincere sounding profile. A lot of girls know that getting a guy they are interested in -- to even come visit them is 90% of the challenge. From their point of view, it is a crapshoot too. I like listening to girls stories: Men who dont look like their photos at all. Men who are very rude, insincere and liars -- even married. Men who think they can buy clothes or gifts for them to go to bed with them. Men who call them scammers when they are not interested in the guy (after the guy has spent $$$$) on them. This is the main argument, because it is the main cause of tons of frustration -- even on my part as well. I am as guilty as any on thinking a girl is a scammer when you can see the insincerity in person, who had completely misrepresented herself in her letters to me. The words in her profile was a lie, and she finally admitted it. I think most of the problems of the scammer he-said/she-did arguments result from guys buying tokens of affections for a girl and she is not even interested in him. If there were rules against buying gifts for girls -- I'd think we'd eliminate the "agency scam / girl is a scammer" arguments completely. But it's not going to stop. I'm the type of guy who loves buying a girl her most favorite perfume or some other token (If I like her). I can't help it, even when I am with someone in the US / UK / New Zealand. I have had girls buy me gifts and tokens too (cards, balloons, lingerie "for us both") to impress me as well. The biggest gripe I hear from them on the flipside is that I used them for sex and I was never really serious about marrying them -- whenever there is an argument. lol! Todays Marriage Agency is not a "MAIL ORDER BRIDE" operation like they had 100 years ago. That is the biggest myth and lie there is. No girl I met or wrote expects to marry or be impressed by any guy she meets just to leave her country -- they had to find the man attractive. This is the case EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD! Yes, some find a man's wallet the most attractive thing about a man. What girl doesn't want to have things? Other's don't make this their primary interest and are after a handsome or very nice man that is faithful and sincere. I find the later much more prevalent in Odessa and everywhere else for that matter. Biggest personal observation: The really pretty, sexy girls you see on the websites for years (2+ years)? They are very picky gold-diggers and want the complete package -- Young (25-35), Rich (500k-5m/yr+), Handsome (with great body). If I were to warn a guy of anything, it would be of a girl who has been on these marriage agency websites for more than 1 year, especially if she is from a big city in FSU (Moscow, SPB, Kiev and Odessa). That really says a lot to a degree. Because MANY sincere, decent looking men come in to visit their agency EVERY WEEK! A girl can become a professional online dater and receive gifts every week from the less informed and she just has to not request money via agency letters. She can ask for money and support via phone, in person, and via personal email. To the wise: THEY WILL ALL DATE other men -- especially if you are not working on the marriage proceedings or leading there with serious intentions and have met them and their family in person already. Don't expect them to wait for you to make up your mind. If they meet someone that better fits what they want -- they will drop you fast and write you to tell you they are sorry. It happens to us guys... even to these girls, as it was in my case. I will do what I did so successfully in Colombia - stay more than a month. I was about to marry 2 very pretty, sexy girls I met in Colombia, (One from an agency and the other I met just going out). After week 3 for both -- I found out things about them that were not so great that a 1-week tour or 1 year of letter writing would never have given me. Things like moral integrity, attitude towards life, sexuality, history of their relationships, sincerity and domestic compatibility for a lifelong future. If you can take off 1 month - I'd highly recommend this over a 7-day tour.
