Also - Customs people have plenty of time - and they know that the package is from an American man to an FSU lady (the names and types of items will certainly give that away) don't you suppose that they will go over the package extrmemly well?
With the premium EMS delivery service available through the USPS (don't think I'm plugging them just because I WORK for the USPS, but I do) the package is only opened in front of the lady. She would go into a little room with an inspector and the package was only opened at THAT point. Customs people opened nonsealed boxes and opened cases - but they didn't look behind laminated pictures or open sealed boxes of oatmeal.
Using a premium service like THAT is the way to go. Only bad news is its not available in many small cities.
Yes – we have used Fedex and DHL – no problems with them – but – the Depot at Kiev (who I am sure is not customs, but perhaps it is) make the mother-in-law pay when she collects. It is meant to be delivered to the door of the recipient. But the cunning fleas suck a bit out for their greedy selves. Pudla’s !!!!!
