Were you on globaladies or globalladies.net??? Out of curiosity I joined globalLadies.net. In first day I got
8 e-mails with questions for me from girl. Of course to read it all you pay $$$, price for 1 girl or 2 or...
monthly with several girls...kind of expensive and can really be abused by scammers.
Globaladies dot com, going since mid 90’s – owned by European Connections in the US, I think.
In three months of membership (I cancelled mine the moment I walked in the door from Ukraine trip last week) I must have had around the 500 mark of “responses” to my profile. I selected only three out of those to correspond with and try and build a friendship with intention of meeting. I think my very first post here a couple of months ago mentions this. So many were beautiful to look at that wrote, but I just couldn’t afford to correspond with that amount…..pay per opening of letter – pay again per reply to letter. I spent just over £200 writing and reading letters from these three, ignoring letters from all the others. I’ve read guys posts here who have blown thousands on dead ends and scammers, so I realise I got off lightly.
It looks like I just picked the wrong three to correspond with, even though I tried to follow the advice, and learn from the mistakes of people who have posted here. None of them ever asked me for anything in almost three months of letter writing. I had their mobile numbers and home addresses. I regularly referred back to their letters to spot an error or scam, and couldn’t find one. I never sent them money or gifts, and all three seemed genuinely excited that I was going to Ukraine and the prospect of meeting me.
Once I arrived in Ukraine I bought a Jeans sim card and set about the business of contacting all three (who knew I was arriving that day) One in Kherson and one in Berdyansk wouldn’t answer their phones to me or reply to my texts, for the first time in three months. I got a text from one of those, and I forget which one now, whilst I was on the overnight train back to Luts’k from Kherson, she wrote….“sori I not meet wit you wile Kherson, mama ill had to go help” One of the three did meet me, John Howard Pub, 7pm (she was 25 minutes late) as agreed. Her strange “uncle” joined us for drinky poos two hours into our “date” We agreed to meet the next day - Lenin Monument – 2pm – Have never heard from her, or the other two, since.
Thankfully, I did meet a really nice, and normal lady towards the end of my stay and we email everyday, from her work and not through an agency, I’m pleased to say, for cost reasons if nothing else. We spent my last four evenings together, she would not accept money from me, and would not allow me to pay for her non-alcoholic drinks. She took me by taxi to the train station get my train ticket to Poland. Whenever I bought cigarettes, sweets or bottled water (and I bought lots of bottled water) she always checked to see how many Grivna’s I was handing over. There’s been no man in her life for almost two years. We kissed and embraced at the train station, then I left, bound for Poland, and eventually home. If this one’s a scammer, then I give up, because I simply wouldn’t be able to trust my own judgement or instincts any longer.
Anyway, that’s my story, my adventure, and I’m sure people here are now tired of reading about it, so I’ll just slip back to where I came from, checking back here ever so occasionally to read the tips, the advice, the occasional squabbling and hopefully adventures of others.
And if anyone here from Britain fancies driving to Ukraine, or as a passenger in my car, anytime before Christmas, as long as you’re not a psychopathic 51yr old ex soldier with a beat up old Cavalier (it’s a long story) then give me a shout, driving’s a hell of a way to get there, but you’ll NEVER forget it! I could probably suffer another 32 hours of back ache, once this pain heals up!
