They are not exposed to westerners every day like the ones in Kiev, St. Pete or Moscow. In fact I have had normally stone cold store clerks perk right when I ask them if they speak english. If that one does not then she directs me to one who does. It's a great way to meet. It is probably the expectation that people who are successful drive these cars because that is what they drive in their cities. My girlfriend wants a landcuiser, I tell her its expensive to run, difficult to park and doesnt get you to anywhere better than a normal car. I then tell her Im proud that I havent owned a car for 5 years! She says she still wants one so I tell her that when she has finished her degree and earns money she can buy one and run it herself! Really though it is all a nonsense to think it is of slightest relevance what car they want. When I was young I wanted Porches and Lambos, now I dont even want a car.
